Chapter 105
When Luo Minghuan looked back at her memories, she found that she would have varying reactions whenever she shared physical contact with Jun Zishu. For example, she would feel either nothing in particular or relaxed when she hugged Jun Zishu. When she pinched Jun Zishu’s face, she would also feel very comfortable. Yet, there were times where her body would inexplicably heat up when she touched Jun Zishu.
Why was this the case?
Luo Minghuan sat up and felt the person beside her following suit.
The moonlight shining through the window illuminated only one part of the room, and the side where the bed was located remained shrouded in darkness.
Luo Minghuan couldn’t see the face of the person beside her very clearly. She could only see the person’s watery eyes glistening in the dark.
“What’s wrong, Husband?” Jun Zishu asked in a sleepy voice, a calculative smile appearing briefly on the face that Luo Minghuan couldn’t see.
The greater Luo Minghuan’s reaction, the greater Jun Zishu’s chances of completing her mission. If Luo Minghuan didn’t have any feelings for her, she wouldn’t have retracted her finger hastily.
Jun Zishu felt that her current identity was too much of a cheat. If she were to do what she did to Luo Minghuan using a normal person’s identity, Luo Minghuan would’ve long since seen through her intentions. However, it was different for the little fool.
The little fool did not know anything, so how could she understand what teasing and flirting meant? How could she understand what it meant to take liberties with others? The answer was—she couldn’t.
The little fool was naive and innocent. She was simply trying to express her fondness.
With a gloomy expression on her face, Luo Minghuan stretched out her hands and pinched Jun Zishu’s cheeks.
Jun Zishu feigned confusion and allowed Luo Minghuan to pinch her. Then, she felt the flesh on her cheeks being pulled in opposite directions, her face suddenly getting deformed.
The flesh on Jun Zishu’s face was very soft and elastic.
Luo Minghuan originally only planned to mess around with Jun Zishu for a bit. However, she didn’t expect such a pleasant sensation. So, she continued messing with Jun Zishu’s face for a while longer to sate her desires.
When Jun Zishu felt that her cheeks had started to hurt, she promptly pulled Luo Minghuan’s hands away.
“It hurts, Husband.” My face isn’t a dough ball! I can feel pain, okay?!
When Luo Minghuan heard the tone of Jun Zishu’s voice, she didn’t even need to look at the little dummy’s face to know that she was making a sulky face. Those white and fluffy cheeks had probably turned red by now, while those lips were definitely pouting.
Luo Minghuan found that even without deliberately recalling her memories, she could effortlessly imagine the expressions on Jun Zishu’s face.
“You’re bullying me, Husband,” Jun Zishu complained, her hands fumbling in the dark as she tried to touch Luo Minghuan’s face.
Luo Minghuan sensed what her wife was trying to do, so she dodged left and right, preventing the little dummy from touching her no matter what.
Jun Zishu got angry for real. Gnashing her teeth, she decided she might as well pounce on Luo Minghuan and press her down against the bed.
Luo Minghuan wanted to laugh when she got pushed down to the bed. However, she accidentally choked on her saliva and started coughing intensely.
Subconsciously, Luo Minghuan covered her mouth, her body shuddering without end.
Seeing this, Jun Zishu dared not continue messing around as she hurriedly got off Luo Minghuan’s body. Then, after Luo Minghuan’s coughing fit settled, Jun Zishu helped Luo Minghuan sit up and gently pat her husband on the back.
Jun Zishu slept on the inner side of the bed. So, she lifted the quilt and stood up. Then, she stepped across Luo Minghuan, put on her shoes in the dark, and poured a cup of water for Luo Minghuan.
“Have some water, Husband.”
After drinking half of the cup, Luo Minghuan shook her head and returned the cup to Jun Zishu’s hands.
Jun Zishu just so happened to feel thirsty, so she drank the rest of the water and placed the cup back on the bedside table.
At this time, some noise came from outside, surprising Jun Zishu a little.
“What’s going on outside, Husband?”
“The show is here. Come, get dressed,” Luo Minghuan said, a smile appearing on her face as she beckoned at Jun Zishu with her hand.
The noise broke the silence at the temple and startled many people awake.
Jun Zishu had a good guess about what had happened, but she feigned ignorance as she put on her clothes and followed Luo Minghuan outside.
When they were approaching the source of the noise, they overheard the abbot telling the temple’s disciples to return to their quarters. At this time, almost everyone from the Luo Manor had gathered at the source of the noise.
“What happened?” Luo Minghuan asked her Fourth Sister, who just so happened to have squeezed her way out of the gathered crowd.
“Second Sister, Second Sister-in-law,” the Fourth Young Miss politely greeted Luo Minghuan and Jun Zishu. Then, her expression grew a little awkward as she said, “I came after hearing the noise. From what I managed to pick up, it seems Seventh Mother committed adultery and got caught by a passing maid. The maid ended up reporting the matter to First Mother, and First Mother brought some people over. Afterward…”
The Fourth Young Miss was only 13 years old, so this was the first time she had encountered such a situation. To her, it was simply embarrassing to talk about matters concerning bedroom affairs. She wasn’t willing to involve herself in the matter, either, which was why she had squeezed her way out of the crowd.
“Did you see it?”
“I did. Seventh Mother was in the same bed with a man…um… I don’t want to talk about it anymore. I’m heading back to rest first, Second Sister.”
The Fourth Young Miss didn’t know whether her Seventh Mother had truly committed adultery or if there was something more sinister going on. She didn’t know, nor did she want to know.
While others were waiting to enjoy the show, she only desired to return to her room and sleep.
Luo Minghuan did not stop her little sister from leaving, only watching as the girl ran away with haste. Although Luo Minghuan found her little sister’s behavior dumb, she had to admit that the girl had made a wise decision. After all, if the girl didn’t know about anything, nobody would think that she had anything to do with the incident.
“Seventh Mother is so bad,” Jun Zishu muttered.
“Do you know what it means to commit adultery, Yuanyuan?”
“I do. My mother told me that women who commit adultery are shameless. Qingqing’s mother is an adulterer, and she even ran away with someone else. Now, Qingqing doesn’t have a mother, and her father doesn’t like her, either. She’s so pitiful. The children in the village even talk badly about her and don’t play with her,” Jun Zishu said indignantly, her cheeks puffed up into round and elastic balls.
Luo Minghuan squeezed Jun Zishu’s fingers and pushed the household guard in front of her. Then, when the guard saw that it was Luo Minghuan, he hurriedly made a path for her.
With everyone stepping aside and making way for Luo Minghuan, Luo Minghuan quickly arrived at the forefront of the crowd.
“What’s going on?” Luo Minghuan asked. Though she didn’t specifically direct her question to anyone, it was obvious that her question was directed to Madam Luo.
However, Madam Luo was too busy to answer Luo Minghuan. With an ugly expression on her face, she pointed at the Seventh Madam and shouted, “Tie up this disgrace!”
Taking a quick look, Jun Zishu saw that only the Seventh Madam was present in the room. The male adulterer was nowhere to be seen.
“I didn’t do it! Let go of me!”
The Seventh Madam gritted her teeth as she kept pushing the approaching household guards away. However, she was still a woman at the end of the day, so there was no way she could win a contest of strength against multiple men, and she got tied up in no time.
“So many of us clearly saw you and the adulterer lying on the bed! Even your maid can testify to it! Yet, you’re still trying to defend yourself?”
“That’s nonsense! You are framing me!”
The Seventh Madam’s voice was terrifyingly sharp, and her expression was distorted. Her clothes were also scattered, and her hair was in disarray.
“Gag her!” Madam Luo bellowed.
Immediately, a maid stepped forward and gagged the Seventh Madam’s mouth with a strip of cloth.
“I can’t believe you would defile this sacred place just to sate your loneliness!” Madam Luo said, frowning. Then, when she scanned the surrounding crowd and spotted the abbot, she quickly put on an apologetic expression and said, “I am truly sorry for this situation, Abbot Jing’an.”
In response, the abbot simply recited an “Amitabha” and sighed before shaking his head and leaving.
Meanwhile, the Seventh Madam kept shaking her head while making whimpering sounds with her mouth. She wanted to defend herself, but the gag in her mouth prevented her from doing so.
“You’re a disgrace to our family,” Madam Luo said, sneering. Then, she waved for the crowd to disperse, saying, “Go back to sleep, everyone. We’ll deal with this matter once we return to the manor tomorrow.”
The Third Madam covered her face with her sleeve and yawned. Then, she left the scene together with Luo Ziying.
Luo Minghuan was merely here as a formality, so she only spoke once throughout the entire debacle. Meanwhile, seeing that Luo Ziqi and Madam Luo remained at the crime scene, Luo Minghuan asked, “What about that adulterer?”
In response, Luo Ziqi pointed at one of the room’s windows and said, “He fled through that window before we managed to see his face. It’s so infuriating.”
Luo Ziqi looked indignant as she spoke, her expression turning even fiercer when she saw Jun Zishu. Evidently, she was still holding a grudge over the exchange they had during the day.
“Minghuan, you should go back and rest early. We came here to pray for your health, but I never thought something like this would happen,” Madam Luo said, sighing. The gaze she used to look at the Seventh Madam made it seem like she was looking at something dirty.
Luo Minghuan only glanced at the Seventh Madam once before leaving with Jun Zishu.
Jun Zishu felt that the Seventh Madam might actually be innocent. She had spotted various emotions on the Seventh Madam’s face, of which were shock, anger, and resentment. However, she did not see any feelings of guilt.
The Seventh Madam probably knew whose handiwork this was. She probably also knew who was trying to deal with her.
Though, it honestly wasn’t hard to figure out. There were only a few people in the Luo Manor, so it shouldn’t take her more than a thought to realize who was trying to get rid of her.
Luo Minghuan found tonight’s show rather boring. Everything had played out according to her expectations, and nothing new had happened.
Luo Minghuan naturally wasn’t responsible for arranging the adulterer. She wasn’t the one guiding this play, either. Like what she said to Jun Zishu, she was only here to watch a show.
Meanwhile, Jun Zishu finally understood why such a play had occurred today. According to Little Fairy, it would seem that the Seventh Madam was pregnant.
Tsk. There really is nothing dirtier than the human heart. Jun Zishu inwardly clicked her tongue.
“Husband, is this the good show you promised? It’s not funny at all!”
Jun Zishu did not ask why Luo Minghuan knew that such an incident would happen. She didn’t need to know about it, either. All she needed to do was complain.
“My bad. I didn’t think you would dislike this type of show. I’ll hire people to come to sing for you next time, okay?”
“No, I want to watch acrobatics!”
Jun Zishu was scared that Luo Minghuan might really invite a theatrical troupe to come perform for her. Few children actually liked listening to operas and watching plays. Rather than those sophisticated performances, children preferred acrobatics instead. Moreover, the livelier the acrobatics performance, the more children would like it.
“I’ll take you to watch acrobatics next time, then.”
“Okay! Yuanyuan also wants to eat dumplings and candied haws!”
“I’ll buy them for you.”
“Husband is the best!”
Jun Zishu let out a small cheer, her elated expression clearly visible under the moonlight.
