Chapter 94
When Jun Zishu left for work the next day, she made sure to drag Yun Zizhou out with her.
Mi Rou was a little surprised by this situation, but she remained silent while watching the two leave.
When the front door was closed, the light in Mi Rou’s eyes also faded.
She used to dream of entering this house in the past. However, when she finally got her dream fulfilled, she felt more sad than happy.
Mi Rou had once wondered if she hadn’t made the decision to resign and come to this place, would she be able to maintain her superficial relationship with Jun Zishu?
However, she had quickly erased this thought shortly after it appeared.
There was no use crying over spilled milk. She wouldn’t have accepted such an outcome, either way.
Mi Rou fantasized about Jun Zishu’s smiling face appearing in front of her. Then, she reached out with her hand, only to touch nothing but air.
…
The sight of Doctor Jiang bringing a beautiful young lady to work attracted many onlookers.
Jun Zishu politely greeted everyone in her path while Yun Zizhou followed her like an obedient wife.
“You’re so popular, Sis.”
“Mhm.” Jun Zishu nodded in acknowledgment. Then, after bringing Yun Zizhou to her office, Jun Zishu said, “Just stay here in my office.”
“Okay.”
Afterward, Jun Zishu put on her white coat, which gave her a more lofty appearance.
“You look beautiful, Sis.”
Yun Zizhou held up her phone and took a picture, a hint of obsession in her eyes. However, she quickly replaced her infatuated expression with a calm smile when she saw Jun Zishu turning around.
“Does that mean I don’t look beautiful normally?”
“You’re normally beautiful as well, but your current appearance looks a little special.”
Jun Zishu chuckled. Afterward, she began devoting herself to work.
After completing a minor operation, Jun Zishu had to run to another operating room, having no time to catch her breath at all.
At this time, Yun Zizhou had already left the hospital.
Although Little Fairy wanted to inform Jun Zishu about Yun Zizhou’s departure, Jun Zishu was focused on a surgery. If she interrupted Jun Zishu, there was no saying what would happen to the precious life on the operating table.
Thus, Little Fairy had no choice but to endure it and continue observing the situation.
Little Fairy might be an artificially programmed system, but she wasn’t dumb.
Little Fairy knew that Yun Zizhou’s body carried Lord’s energy signature, so she had chosen to keep some information from Jun Zishu. For example, even though she knew that Yun Zizhou liked Jun Zishu, she did not reveal this fact to Jun Zishu since Yun Zizhou herself had chosen not to confess her feelings.
Meanwhile, since Yun Zizhou carried Lord’s energy signature, she shouldn’t die off easily.
…
When Yun Zizhou opened the front door, she heard the sound of vegetables being chopped coming from the kitchen.
Mi Rou was currently slicing carrots in the kitchen, every one of her cuts executed in earnest.
“Big Sis Mi Rou,” Yun Zizhou greeted Mi Rou, noticing the obvious tremble in the latter’s body.
“You’re back?”
“Mhm. I wanted to cook lunch for my big sister and deliver it to the hospital,” Yun Zizhou said, her eyes scrutinizing Mi Rou.
No matter how Yun Zizhou looked at Mi Rou, the other party looked like a quiet, gentle, and weak woman. Mi Rou did not look like a dangerous person at all. Yet, such a meek person was capable of calmly interacting with her and Jun Zishu despite her circumstances. Mi Rou’s calmness was already at the level of being strange rather than shameless.
“You take over, then.”
Mi Rou put down the knife in her hand and walked out of the kitchen.
Yun Zizhou nodded and took over Mi Rou’s task.
After glancing at Yun Zizhou’s back, Mi Rou walked into the living room.
There was a fruit knife resting on the living room’s coffee table.
A hint of confusion appeared in Mi Rou’s eyes momentarily when she looked at the fruit knife.
However, that confusion quickly transformed into resolution.
While Yun Zizhou was washing the ingredients, she suddenly felt a presence behind her. Unfortunately, it was already too late when Yun Zizhou realized this as Mi Rou had already stabbed the fruit knife into her back. Then, when Mi Rou stepped back with her fruit knife, blood spewed out from Yun Zizhou’s wound, followed by a warm and painful sensation.
Yun Zizhou closed the faucet and turned around to look at Mi Rou.
Mi Rou wore a tranquil expression on her face as she looked back at Yun Zizhou, some blood staining the fruit knife in her hands.
“So this is what you are capable of.”
Yun Zizhou licked her lips and smiled.
The current situation was incredibly strange. Despite the bloody assault that just took place, both the victim and the attacker behaved calmly.
“Is your plan to kill me? Then kill her?” Yun Zizhou asked rhetorically. “You aren’t worthy of ending her life.”
Yun Zizhou picked up the knife on the chopping board as she took a whiff of the metallic scent in the air.
“Let me declare it first: What I’m doing is legitimate self-defense.”
…
Little Fairy watched as the two yanderes stabbed and cut at each other with their respective weapons. The scene in the kitchen was so bloody that Little Fairy wanted nothing more than to close her eyes to the sight.
Fortunately, Jun Zishu just so happened to have left the operating room at this time, so Little Fairy promptly informed her of the situation.
[Host! A knife fight started between Little Sister and No.3! No.3 started the fight.]
What?
Jun Zishu immediately ran back to her office, her heart in a panic.
Didn’t I tell her not to run around?! Why did she still go back?!
After taking off her coat and grabbing her phone and keys, Jun Zishu told one of her colleagues that she had urgent matters to deal with before rushing to the car park.
On her way back, Jun Zishu tried calling Yun Zizhou’s phone.
Nobody answered.
Then, Jun Zishu called Mi Rou’s phone, only to meet with the same outcome.
What’s the situation right now?
[Both of them collapsed. Little Sister is heavily injured.]
Little Fairy answered. However, she left out the fact that Yun Zizhou had deliberately let herself get injured.
Little Fairy never thought Yun Zizhou would be so crazy as to intentionally throw her body into the path of Mi Rou’s knife. Moreover, she had even purposefully avoided attacking Mi Rou’s vitals.
Jun Zishu had already called for an ambulance even before she arrived home. After entering the house and walking to the kitchen, her heart palpitated when she saw the scene inside.
Yun Zizhou and Mi Rou had collapsed into a pool of blood. The kitchen walls were also covered in bloodstains, and the stench of blood filled the air.
Seeing the state of the two’s injuries, Jun Zishu quickly grabbed the first aid kit in the living room and did some emergency treatment for Yun Zizhou.
After losing so much blood, both Yun Zizhou and Mi Rou had already fallen into varying degrees of coma. Fortunately, the ambulance arrived shortly afterward.
…
Jun Zishu’s eyes were filled with chilling wrath as she watched over Yun Zizhou in the ambulance. She had also given a call to Mi Rou’s parents already.
Jun Zishu had personally performed surgery on Yun Zizhou. Although physicians were typically advised against performing surgery for relatives due to the possibility of personal feelings influencing their judgment, Jun Zishu adamantly insisted on performing Yun Zizhou’s surgery herself. Her hands also remained as steady as always when suturing Yun Zizhou’s wounds.
Guilt filled Jun Zishu when she looked at Yun Zizhou. After all, it was her fault that Yun Zizhou had ended up in such a state. Had she returned home a few minutes later, Yun Zizhou might have even lost her life from excessive blood loss.
Afterward, when Jun Zishu asked Little Fairy why Yun Zizhou returned home, Little Fairy responded by saying that Yun Zizhou wanted to prepare lunch for her.
Hearing this answer, Jun Zishu couldn’t help but look at Yun Zizhou with complicated feelings. She felt that Yun Zizhou had gotten injured unnecessarily. This tragedy could’ve been avoided so long as the girl had listened to her instructions and stayed put in her office.
However, Jun Zishu also couldn’t deny the fact that Yun Zizhou treated her very well.
Yun Zizhou was an existence uninvolved in Jun Zishu’s mission. Yet, from the moment Jun Zishu arrived in this world, Yun Zizhou had entered her life in a very impactful manner.
Jun Zishu felt comfortable when she was interacting with Yun Zizhou. The stress she built up from interacting with the mission’s yanderes would vanish so long as she listened to Yun Zizhou speak. Yun Zizhou had also taken care of her very well. Jun Zishu had to admit that Yun Zizhou was a very good little sister.
What Jun Zishu felt upset about was that she had gotten an outsider involved in her mission.
…
Mi Rou regained consciousness earlier than Yun Zizhou. When she woke up, the first thing she saw was the haggard faces of her parents.
Mi Rou didn’t know what she should say in this situation, so she chose to keep quiet.
In the end, Jun Zishu chose to call the police. She had done so for the sake of Yun Zizhou.
While Jun Zishu could ignore Shi Yu’s transgression, she couldn’t do the same with Mi Rou.
It didn’t matter whether Mi Rou was a yandere. It didn’t matter what kind of reasons she had. It was a crime to try to murder someone.
Jun Zishu could allow Mi Rou to stab her as much as she wanted since she was responsible for cleaning up Jiang Wentong’s mess. Jun Zishu could accept getting injured herself because she knew the cause of the situation. However, Jun Zishu would not tolerate Mi Rou harming others. It didn’t matter even if the harmed party wasn’t Yun Zizhou.
When Jun Zishu arrived in the room Mi Rou was hospitalized in, two police officers followed her.
Mi Rou’s mother shed tears without end throughout the prosecution process, nearly fainting when she heard the police charging Mi Rou with attempted murder.
Mi Rou did not try to justify herself, her eyes constantly focused on Jun Zishu.
The way Mi Rou behaved made it look like she was possessed, and even the police officers felt creeped out.
“Have you ever loved me?”
Mi Rou only asked this one question.
“I did.”
Jiang Wentong indeed loved Mi Rou in the past. Unfortunately, that love had a short expiration date.
“I have one more thing to say,” Jun Zishu said as she took out a fruit knife from her pocket.
“Miss Jiang, what are you trying to do?”
The officers looked at Jun Zishu in confusion. Then, they watched as Jun Zishu placed the knife into Mi Rou’s hand and indifferently stabbed herself with the knife.
“Miss Jiang, you…”
“We’re even now. Goodbye,” Jun Zishu said while covering her wound with her hand. However, the blood still seeped through the gaps of her fingers and dripped onto the floor.
“We’re even?”
Mi Rou seemed to be greatly shocked, her previously calm voice trembling slightly.
“You’re telling me that we’re even now? What gives you the right to say that?”
“But didn’t you plan on killing me originally? Or did I get it wrong?”
The conversation between Jun Zishu and Mi Rou stunned the people around them. It was especially true for Mi Rou’s parents.
“Jiang Wentong, why did I have to meet you?”
Mi Rou finally crumbled, her expression no longer calm like before.
She had climbed out of a swamp only to fall into a bottomless abyss.
—I used to treat you as my savior. Never did I think you would push me into an even scarier place.
“You should really see a doctor. I hope that you can meet with someone better in the future,” Jun Zishu calmly said, her aching wound reminding her that she needed to get treated immediately.
…
When Jun Zishu approached one of her colleagues for surgery, her department chief nearly exploded from anger.
“What’s going on with you this month? Why must you mistreat your body like this?”
The department chief felt his heart ache when he saw the state of his prided disciple.
“I have to return what I owe to others.”
…
Jun Zishu arranged for herself to be placed next to Yun Zizhou. She even hired two care workers to take care of herself and Yun Zizhou.
Jun Zishu did not inform Yun Zizhou’s parents about Yun Zizhou’s injuries. Yun Zizhou’s mother was pregnant, after all.
Yun Zizhou remained unconscious for a long period. She even experienced fevers multiple times. Only after half a month of treatment did her condition stabilize.
When Yun Zizhou finally regained consciousness and saw Jun Zishu lying in the bed next to hers, she couldn’t help but be stunned.
“Sis? Why are you… Did she do this to you? Did you call the police?”
“Mhm. She was given a ten-year sentence.”
“That’s great. Hiss…”
Yun Zizhou wanted to sit up, but she accidentally agitated her wound while doing so.
“Do you know that you nearly lost your life?” Jun Zishu asked as she looked at Yun Zizhou coldly.
“I was doing it for you,” Yun Zizhou said with a smile, unfazed by Jun Zishu’s angry glare. “With this, she shouldn’t be able to pester you anymore.”
Jun Zishu vaguely felt that something was amiss. However, that strange feeling quickly vanished.
There were birds chirping on a tree branch outside the window, showing off their vigorous vitality.
Jun Zishu looked out the window, and Yun Zizhou, too, looked in the window’s direction.
However, what Yun Zizhou was looking at wasn’t the birds but the person reflected in the window.
Yun Zizhou felt that she might be ill as well, and the name of the disease was love.
