Chapter 89 - Jasmine Told Jackson Her Story
Chapter 89 - Jasmine Told Jackson Her Story
"Of course JK dislikes her. In fact, he dislikes ladies that are way too bold. Choosing the horror movie was indeed deliberate. It is a well-known fact that ladies hate horror movies so we wanted to use this opportunity to help Jasmine out. We all know just how much she loves JK and we equally know how JK often treats her coldly so we wanted to give her the chance to get closer to him. Who knows she might be able to melt his icy heart when he saw that she is just as fragile as every other woman in the world," Jeff lied without batting an eye. Even Steve was surprised at the lies he came up with. The nervous Jeff silent prayed that the suspicious Catherine will believe his words. If peradventure Catherine learns about their plans, he was certain that she will immediately reveal everything to Jasmine and this will spell doom for the three of them.
Forget about winning her love Jasmine will despise the two of them if she learns so soon about their plans. Jackson getting her love afterwards will become impossible to achieve.
"Jasmine never asked you for help so why did you help her if all you have said is true?" Catherine asked not believing all Jeff said. Something inside of her told her that the two guys were keeping secrets and she wanted to know what their secret is all about.
"Because we like her. We consider her a friend now and we love seeing her smile. She can't help but smile when Jack is around, I am sure you have noticed this too," Steve quickly supported.
"I love your intention but please don't do this again. Jasmine has always hate horror movies since childhood when she was forced to watch horror movies at such a young age. She often had nightmares after watching such movies and sometimes she can't eat," Catherine said calmly.
"Someone forced her to watch a horror movie? Who? Tell us and we will definitely avenge her," Jeff said with confidence.
"Let's concentrate on the movie. I want to be able to tell her what happened at the end if she asked me," Catherine said as she turned and face the screen without giving them a reply.
Seeing how meticulous Catherine is when talking about Jasmine and her past, I can't help but suspect that they are big secrets they are hiding that we and the public do not know about, I wonder what this is.
Steve thought as he stares at Catherine who was pretending to be watching the movie playing on the screen.
Jasmine and Jackson seized the opportunity to take a walk outside the movie theatre. After seeing that she was calm, Jackson stroked a conversation.
"Why do you hate horror movies so much? I mean from your action and the way you speak, you are like the fearless type who is not afraid of anyone or anything so why did you have that scared reaction earlier?" Jackson asked meekly.
"When I was eight years old, I and my elder sister went on a school trip to farmland in the rural area. During the second day of the trip, my sister who has been planning to evade the security men Dad sent to protect us finally got what she wanted but unfortunately, she did not leave me alone but forced me to come with her. She took me far away from the residential areas. While sitting under a big tree to relax, fifteen minutes later we saw some scary looking men approaching us, following our instinct that we were in trouble, we took to our heels. As children, we couldn't run very far and to make matters worst, I hit my leg against a stone lying on the ground and fall. Can you guess what my sister did? Do you think she assisted up from the floor or not?" Jasmine asked putting on a painful smile.
Jackson could see the pains in her eyes. He felt hurt seeing her in pain.
"I am terrible at guessing," Jackson said. From her expression, he could guess what the elder sister did but he just decided not to say it.
"After taking a glance at me she continued running without giving me a hand. I ended up being caught by the scary-looking men. And after I was rescued I learned that she did not mention a word of what happened to anyone. It was as if she had wanted me gone from her life," Jasmine said smiling.
"How is that related to you hating horror movies?" Jackson asked curiously.
"Because as young as I was back then the five men forced me daily to watch horror movies. Each time I finished watching those movies, I was always terrified. My hands and entire body always shook but they careless about it. They aimed to instil fear in me so when they call my parents for the ransom money, I will urge them to do like they demanded. My mental health matters nothing to them. I was even so lucky not to have been raped by them back then," Jasmine concluded her story.
"What did your parents do after you told them that it was your sister's fault and how were the kidnappers punished? Were they even caught?" Jackson asked anxiously.
"She was the Apple of their eyes so what could they possibly do to her? My parents pretended as though nothing happened," Jasmine said.
"If your parent didn't do anything then what did you do?" Jackson asked staring at her face.
"Although she let me suffered for five days in that dark room with only television hanging on the wall what could I possibly do? She is my elder sister after all so I couldn't win against her even though I wanted to fight her. I just endured the pain and nightmares with gritted teeth," Jasmine said as she resumed walking back to the movie theatre.
"If you were so forgiving at that time then what happened that made you become this way? Did your elder sister steal your man that is why you hate having affections for men?" Jackson asked the question he has always wanted to ask her.
