Chapter 87: 87

Our Reality

Chapter 87

Song Qinglan originally wanted Ji Yushi to suggest something.

But Ji Yushi originally wasn’t someone who went out often so his level of understanding of places to go in Ning City was about the same as Song Qinglan’s and he couldn’t really recommend anything. After the two discussed a few options, Ji Yushi even felt that staying at home may be the better way to pass their vacation.

“This is a date.” Song Qinglan persuaded him, “Since it’s a date, staying at home the whole time won’t do. When I return to the squad later, I still want to share with those single dogs our romantic experiences. This will motivate them to escape singlehood.”

This reason was spoken very righteously, leaving Ji Yushi with a rare, confused expression, “But I really don’t know where to go. Have lunch, watch a movie and walk around in the park?”

The classic date routine?

Song Qinglan pulled him up from the carpet, “Go to the amusement park.”

Ji Yushi’s eyes widened, “Amusement park?!”

Song Qinglan turned him around and pushed him into the room. As he made him stand in front of the closet, he said, “Yes, the amusement park.”

The amusement park. A must have destination for school-aged straight men to bring their dates.

Ji Yushi didn’t expect Song Qinglan to suggest this and just felt that this level of childishness didn’t go well with the other person’s personality. He could only tell himself that the other party was still a child at heart.

To be a qualified boyfriend, Ji Yushi silently accepted this proposal.

The two changed and got ready to leave.

In order to make himself look less incompatible with a place like the amusement park, Ji Yushi kept the simple T-shirt he wore in the morning and only changed his shorts to jeans and paired it with a pair of sneakers. With his slender figure and straight back, this way of dressing failed to make him look ordinary and conversely made him look like an eye-catching top student.

The clothes Song Qinglan wore the day before had already been washed and dried and they weren’t very formal clothes so they sufficed.

The two stood in the elevator. It was only when they saw each other in the mirror that they finally felt that they were going out for a date.

Ji Yushi, “Wouldn’t it be a little strange?”

Song Qinglan looked at him through the mirror, “How would it be strange? Adults have no right to seek thrill and relax?”

Ji Yushi, “…….”

Song Qinglan continued to look at the Ji Yushi reflected in the mirror. He tilted his head and said to him, “You can pretend that I am still a child.”

“If you can change to your appearance in Chaos, I can try but 1.92 metres….” Ji Yushi commented calmly, “What a big kid.”

The little Cap Song with a tender face and a soft voice.

Because of his small size, the sleeves were dragged across the floor and he wore a pair of short boots several sizes too large for him as he tried to keep up with him with Shen Mian in his arms.

Stubborn and cute.

Ji Yushi recalled that scene and his eyes couldn’t help but soften. Afraid of Song Qinglan noticing, he even turned his head away.

Reaching the parking lot, Song Qinglan took the initiative to be the driver, but even with his height advantage, he couldn’t find the black off-road car anywhere.

Ji Yushi stepped forward and unlocked a car nearby, “Here.”

This car was quite retro and elegant in shape. It was a car from the 80’s or 90’s, completely different from the domineering car Song Qinglan saw last time. They were practically on two extremes.

Song Qinglan circled the car with interest, “Where is the car from last time?”

Ji Yushi’s gun and car all matched well with the image he gave off.

He sure does like retro things.

“Don’t have it. My car has always been this one in reality but the bubble world made a different choice for me.” Ji Yushi threw the keys at him, “Do you want to drive? Manual with no automatic function. It’s laborious but enjoyable.”

“Drive!” Song Qinglan was very willing to be the driver. He caught the key and sat in the car.

Ji Yushi circled the car and got into the front passenger seat. As soon as he closed the door, he heard Song Qinglan call out his name, “Ji Yushi.”

He turned his head.

He was kissed on his lips.

Song Qinglan’s lips pressed against his, rubbing gently, “Welcome. Let our first date officially begin.”

*

Drop towers, roller coasters, the big pendulum.

The amusement park on a weekday was still crowded with people. While completing those three thrilling rides, the expressions of the two men didn’t change. When Song Qinglan was on the pendulum, he even calmly took out his phone, took a video and sent it to Li Chun.

The sunlight was just right. Colourful bubbles floated in the sky. Ji Yushi’s side profile briefly appeared in the recording.

Li Chun: [?]

Li Chun: [Cap Song, are you trying to kill single dogs?]

Song Qinglan promptly replied: [No, I mainly wanted to ask how many rounds of the pendulum you have completed this vacation.]

Li Chun: […..Actually, I don’t vomit as much now! I can do it!]

Song Qinglan didn’t pay any heed to his answer and continued: [My second reason is because I want to kill single dogs.]

Li Chun: [Ahhhhh?Suicide.JPG?]

Song Qinglan: [Look at our Advisor Ji, as a civilian worker—–]

As he typed, the pendulum stopped.

Ji Yushi who had already unstrapped himself called out to him, “It’s time to get off.”

Song Qinglan immediately turned off his phone and ignored Li Chun on the other side. He reached the edge and jumped off first before holding his hand out, “Be careful.”

Ji Yushi gave him his hand and also jumped down.

The other people on the ride with them all had pale faces. They looked at them like they were monsters.

Despite all the rides, Ji Yushi’s face wasn’t red nor was he breathless. It was as if he was on a sightseeing tour bus instead.

Song Qinglan wanted to change things up and get him to choose, “What do you want to play next?”

They had spent a lot of time just queuing up for the rides earlier. Ji Yushi turned on his phone and moved the map projection around. Most of the amusement park rides were red and only a few of them were green and not so busy.

“Go to the haunted house?” Ji Yushi suggested, “There are fewer people there.”

“Haunted house?” Seeing the high-risk warning on the holographic projection, Song Qinglan hesitated, “The experience is too realistic. Are you sure?”

When others receive a scare, they would soon forget about it.

But Ji Yushi wouldn’t. For him, a scary experience would never disappear, and it was because of this that Song Qinglan was hesitant.

“I want to go because it is realistic.” It was Ji Yushi’s turn this time to pull Song Qinglan along, “Also, no matter how realistic it is, can it be as realistic as being surrounded by zombies in a convenience store? I want to try and see if high-tech can scare me.”

“Alright.” Song Qinglan agreed.

The haunted house was a little far from the pendulum.

Instead of taking a tour bus, they chose to walk.

Along the way, Song Qinglan tried out a shooting game and easily obtained a plush toy. Ji Yushi saw it and also wanted to give it a try and similarly acquired another one. The two felt that that it was too troublesome to carry around, so they gave it to the children waiting in line behind them.

After coming out of the shooting place, Song Qinglan bought cotton candy for Ji Yushi, “Since other children have it, our Advisor Ji can’t not have it.”

Ji Yushi graciously accepted it.

He bit into the pink cotton candy and it quickly melted in his mouth, “This place still tastes the same.”

Song Qinglan, “You have been here before?”

Ji Yushi, “Yeah, the first time was when I was eleven. Ji Minyue brought me here. After that, we came here three more times. We would always buy it from this place.”

The haunted house was ahead.

Ji Yushi had already joined the line.

Song Qinglan watched his relaxed back figure and deeply suspected —- Could Ji Minyue’s understanding of Ji Yushi be stuck at the moment when he was a child?

When they left the haunted house, Song Qinglan basically confirmed this.

Amidst the howls and screams from the other visitors, the two of them went through the haunted house together, exploring the map in detail. They even cleared an instance that was expected to take an hour in a little more than ten minutes. This included the time they waited for the female ghost to reappear because Ji Yushi wanted to see it again.

To Ji Yushi, this amusement park wasn’t anything new or fresh.

Song Qinglan could imagine what Ji Yushi could’ve been like when he was a child as he sought out thrilling experiences but unfortunately, he couldn’t go back in time to accompany him.

Perhaps for ordinary couples, as long as they were together, it could be considered a good date.

But their date shouldn’t be like this.

Song Qinglan left for a moment to make a phone call before returning.

Ji Yushi was holding a cup of iced milk tea. Seeing that he was back, he asked, “Want it?”

Song Qinglan held Ji Yushi’s hand and naturally took a sip through the straw.

This action of his was very intimate, making Ji Yushi’s heart to soften. He had asked Song Qinglan earlier if he wanted it thinking that he would buy him one if he did.

When Song Qinglan was done, he saw his look and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Ji Yushi said, “Someone gave it.”

Song Qinglan followed his gaze. Not far away, three girls saw them look over and ran away in embarrassment.

He raised his eyebrow slightly and said unhappily, “I just left for a while and someone bought you milk tea?”

Ji Yushi nodded, “I am very popular.”

Song Qinglan laughed.

He didn’t know what kind of grudges this person has noted down. Song Qinglan took the milk tea from him and asked, “Want to go skydiving?”

Ji Yushi, “Skydiving?”

“My comrade-in-arms retired and opened a skydiving club.” Song Qinglan explained briefly, “It’s not far from Ning City. I gave him a call just now. If we go now, we will be back tomorrow morning.”

*

For the first time in his twenty-five years, Ji Yushi agreed on an impromptu trip.

They directly set off from the amusement park and didn’t even go home. He only gave Ji Minyue a call to ask him to help take care of his three little masters.

Ji Yushi’s car didn’t have an automatic driving mode and couldn’t go onto the highway with an unrestricted speed limit so they could only take the ordinary highway to get to the club about 500 kilometres away. This however didn’t make them change their minds. On the way, they bought some food and water. If they didn’t delay for too long, they would be able to reach there in time for the last skydiving session before the sky darkens.

The ordinary highway passed through the old part of Ning City. A lone car followed the spacious road.

It sped freely down with no obstacles in its way.

From the highway, one could see a building that was waiting to be rebuilt. Against the backdrop of skyscrapers and suspension train tracks in the new part of the city, it gave off a strange beauty of desolateness.

“When I was young, I went to kindergarten in that area.” Song Qinglan pointed ahead, “See that? The green area next to the red building.”

Ji Yushi nodded.

He also saw the green space. His side profile was calm.

Just as Song Qinglan thought he didn’t hear him, he turned and said, “What a coincidence. I also went to kindergarten there.”

Song Qinglan: “You’re joking.”

Ji Yushi: “Really. The kindergarten attached to Ning University.”

Song Qinglan thought he was really joking with him, “That’s a pity then. Why didn’t I pursue you in kindergarten?”

KK has something to say:

Is Song Qinglan finally going to find out??
