Chapter 428: Chapter 428: Ice Sealed Ball
Even though sister Li explained the reasons, Li Yao knew that not every Ice Mage could control their magic as skillfully as she could.
An Ice Mage could be a godlike profession if mastered, but without proper training, it could feel underpowered.
It was not only about the different roles. Even within a single profession, this could be the case.
A skilled Druid was almost invincible, but an untrained Druid was no more than a waste of space.
A skilled Druid would boast about how it was a do-all profession—it could sustain damage, heal, deal damage, move swiftly, and even act cute.
An untrained Druid, however, would complain about how it was a trash profession—they couldn’t best a warrior in damage or endurance in bear form, a rogue in stealth or damage in cat form, a priest in healing in treant form and they’re only a mediocre healer, an Owl Beast was inferior to a mage as it had a complicated damage-dealing mechanism, and it was too tiring and inferior to an average mage.
An Ice Mage was similar—it took a lot of skill to play, which made it a very unfriendly profession for beginners.
“Damn it, you think you can freeze me with your magic? In your dreams,” said the Frogman Patrol Officer, as he brandished his trident.
Crack, crack, crack…
The ice prison entrapping him was swiftly shattered. Without pausing, he swung his weapon again at the green ice wall blocking his way.
The ice wall couldn’t even last three seconds before it was shattered. But it wasn’t in vain.
Sister Li had traded a non-threatening active skill for two of the boss’s abilities, which was a big win.
“Hold him down for another three to five seconds,” instructed Li Yao.
“Okay,” agreed Sister Li. As the Patrol Officer shattered the ice wall, she turned again and tapped her wand.
Deep Ice Freeze!
“You want to try that ice wall trick again, not…”
His words were cut off as he was immediately bound by deep blue ice—an advanced move for an Ice Mage.
This wasn’t a spell that could be cast at will. It could only be used when the target was slowed or frozen by an ice/water type spell. It summoned the power of hard ice to bind the target.
This was a beneficial spell. Any Ice Mage hitting a Deep Ice Frozen target was guaranteed a critical hit.
But Sister Li wasn’t trying to boost her damage. She turned her attention back to the bullfrogs, leaving their execution to Li Yao.
Li Yao was the first to kill a bullfrog, and the multi-headed snake killed another. Soon, Sister Li and Tu Tu killed the last one.
With that, all the minions that had come with the Patrol Officer had been wiped out.
“Move back, create some distance,” ordered Li Yao, creating a space around the multi-headed snake. They were planning to use Floating Snow’s limit effect to kite it.
Li Yao found this the simplest yet most effective strategy. In the water, Sister Li’s combat power increased exponentially. This increase was not displayed with a simple boost in damage.
After Li Yao and his group retreated a distance, the Patrol Officer finally broke free from the grip of the Deep Ice Freeze. Such was the power of an Ice Mage. If it were a regular Ice Mage, their control couldn’t have lasted this long.
Poison Arrow!
“Damn Ice Mages, I hate you all,” roared the Patrol Officer now completely angry. Although Frogmen are highly intelligent creatures, they only master the ancient poison magic.
In the sea, only some powerful creatures, the Naga and Water Elements, master ice or water spells.
In the water, they naturally have advantages. For instance, the multi-headed snake’s Floating Snow spell is different in some ways in water compared to its land form, it’s magic mechanism is well-suited for underwater battles.
As one of the sea’s dominant creatures, a high-ranking multi-headed snake was a top-ranked Warcraft.
“Multi-headed snake,” instructed Li Yao.
“Understood, Master,” replied the Dark Snake, its head appearing like a ghost in front of Li Yao.
Splash…
The poison arrow hit the multi-headed snake, instantly shrouding it in a green gas.
-9985-9689-9785…
Li Yao immediately threw a Detoxification Potion, which made the damage stop.
“Damn it, what kind of poison is this?” The Dark Snake cried in pain. After drinking the potion, its eyes glowed red and a dark colored light encircled the Patrol Officer.
As the Patrol Officer was being controlled, its health started to drop, while the Dark Snake and Ice Dragon’s health began to quickly recover.
“Maximize the damage output,” Li Yao instructed.
Without waiting for Li Yao’s command, everyone started to eagerly attack the boss. Despite its high health, under such immense pressure, the Patrol Officer’s HP was dropping rapidly.
Meanwhile, the Earth Element and the Fire Element that continued to evaporate steam also rushed to the Patrol Officer’s side.
After several attempts to instantly kill the two elements, the Patrol Officer realized that although they kept losing health, they just wouldn’t die. That’s when he understood that they were Totem Creatures.
“Don’t assume you’ve won already,” interrupted the Patrol Officer. With continuous kiting, its health was already down to about 60%. It couldn’t hold back any longer.
As the trident thrusts, a stream of green poison began to spread.
Poison Mist!
As the poison fog spread, the Patrol Officer swung its trident again. The water flow began to get chaotic.
Whirlpool!
With the whirlpool’s movement, the originally slow-spreading poison fog rapidly rushed towards the group along with the current.
To Li Yao and his group, it looked as if all the seawater was contaminated. The combination of the two skills wasn’t as simple as one plus one.
This was its proud skill combo. The combo was foolproof, especially in the water where its effect was more powerful.
“You can freeze, right? Now freeze this,” said the Patrol Officer, who was rapidly getting closer to the trio with the flow of the poison fog.
“Let’s withdraw, Multi-headed snake, you too,” said Li Yao, frowning. His bullets could limit the creature, but as for stopping it, he had no means.
“No need to withdraw. You guys continue to attack, watch me break his move,” said Sister Li, her eyes flashing with excitement. It had been so long since her blood had boiled like this.
“Alright, continue attacking then.” Li Yao trusted Sister Li. She didn’t do things she wasn’t sure of.
“Watch me break your moves,” Sister Li said.
With a somewhat abstruse spell, Sister Li carefully threw out a Blue Ice Crystal.
The Blue Ice Crystal, shining like a gem, quickly sank into the poison fog but soon moved towards the group with the current due to the whirlpool.
“Ice Orb.”
With the end of Sister Li’s spell, her wand flashed, and the Blue Ice Crystal sparkled with a dazzling blue light.
Crack, crack, crack…
An enormous ice orb formed around the crystal, freezing part of the poison fog. But more parts, including the ice orb and crystal were entrapped in the flow heading towards Li Yao.
“Haha, pitiful tricks,” the Patrol Officer laughed.
“Oh really?” said Sister Li. Staring at the ever-expanding ice orb which had reached its limit, she ordered, “Spin.”
The ice orb, having expanded to about two yards in diameter, began to rotate crazily and formed a small whirlpool in the water. Simultaneously, countless ice arrows were fired in all directions from the center of the orb.
With the whirlpool’s rotation, the poison fog continually converged, attached itself to the freezing arrows and was shot out. It all headed straight towards the Patrol Officer, who was in the current. The Patrol Officer’s laughter abruptly ended…
