Chapter 118 - Imperial Capital of Rowei
Chapter 118: Imperial Capital of Rowei
The morning sun shone into the top floor of the Accord Inn.
Lan Xi and Fike were both still lying lazily on the big bed, and Lan Xi hugged Fike’s body tightly as she snuggled up to him.
The couple were naked after having just experienced an intense battle last night.
Suddenly, there was a knock on their room door.
Fike woke up reluctantly before walking over sleepily to open it, his eyes only half open.
He found Cisco and the other three professors staring back at him.
Seeing Fike naked, they covered their faces immediately, making their embarrassment clear.
Fike only realized that he wasn’t wearing any clothes after staring dumbfoundedly at the professors silently averting their gazes for a while.
He panicked.
“Wait for me, I’ll be right back!”
Fike hurried back into his room and took a piece of clothing that had been scattered on the ground before putting it on and walking back to the door.
Cisco looked wittily remarked as he scanned the student who had just gotten dressed.
“I see that you didn’t sleep well last night, did you Fike?”
Fike smiled lightly in response.
“Yeah…
“That’s true, but don’t let your mind wander. I went to investigate the Heavenly King’s Palace last night.”
“What?”
All four of the professors shouted in surprise.
“Give me some time to wash up. We’ll find a secluded place later.”
Everyone agreed.
Fike closed the door before turning around to wake Lan Xi up.
“Little Lazy Pig, the sun is already shining! Aren’t you going to get up?”
Her sleepy eyes twitched as she said coquettishly.
“Just let me sleep a little longer! Just a little longer…”
Seeing that she was ignoring him, Fike reached a hand down toward her private lady area.
A tingle of excitement struck Lan Xi, instantly refilling her energy.
“Ah ~ Ah ~ Stop it! I’m getting up, I’m getting up, aren’t I?”
“That’s more like it!”
Fike smiled.
The pair washed up briefly before going downstairs to the dining hall for breakfast.
By now, Cisco and others had already found them seats.
After they joined them and were all seated, Fike opened his mouth to explain.
“Last night, I sneaked into the Fu Shou Inn and heard some of the plans the Heavenly King’s Palace intends to carry out.”
“Oh? What plans?”
Everyone’s interests had been piqued.
“In seven days, the Heavenly King’s Palace will launch a coup in the Imperial Capital of Rowei!”
The expressions of all four teachers changed drastically upon hearing this.
“How dare the Heavenly King’s Palace do such a thing within a territory of the Lieluo Empire?”
“How would their army even enter the capital?”
Casey asked.
“There’s no need for them to enter!”
Fike explained.
“Followers of the Heavenly King’s Palace have already been situated within the captal.”
“How many people are there?”
“I’m not very clear on that, but what I do know is that most of them are currently in the hall on the North Mountain, behind the palace. They’ll lie in wait for seven days from now before making their move.
“What’s more, many ministers, doctors, and even a prince are involved in this plan.”
Fike detailed calmly.
As they listened intently to Fike’s words, they couldn’t help but take nervous breaths collectively.
“Yes,” Cisco started, deep in thought. “If this news is true, then we’ll really have to think carefully about our next move.”
Fike continued on.
“I think our current plans should remain unchanged. We should still bring Lan Xi into the Capital of Rowei first. As for the spies and henchmen of the Heavenly King’s Palace, we could try eliminating them before the coup is launched in the first place.
“After all, the enemy is in the open, and we are in the dark.
“It wouldn’t be difficult to catch them all.”
Everyone expressed their agreement on this. Cisco followed up on the details.
“Anyway, our original plan had always been to stay in the capital for seven days. After those seven days are up, we’ll head on to the Great Lieluo Desert!”
Fike shot a look at Lan Xi, who was beside him. She spoke up.
“Although I don’t have any feelings for my father, he is still the one I owe my life to, and raised me. Everyone, please save the Lieluo Empire! Please!”
No one had anything to add after hearing her plea.
Thor turned to Fike and asked.
“Fike, young friend, what do you think your chances are of winning this purge?”
Fike smiled at the man.
“If I were to do it alone, I’d estimate it to be less than 60%. However, if all the teachers were to be willing to help me…
“Together, I’d say our chances of winning are at least 80%!”
Thor looked at the confident young man in front of him as he nodded.
“Okay then, I’ll stand with you!”
“Anyway, if the Lieluo Empire falls, Romon will also perish!”
Cisco remarked.
“I’m in!”
“So are we!”
Casey and Iamas declared together.
“Alright!”
Fike beamed as he looked back at everyone.
Thus, after a simple breakfast, the group set off on their journey to the Imperial Capital of Rowei.
…
After traveling for a whole day and night, they finally arrived at the city gates just before dusk.
Fike lifted the curtains of his carriage.
These city walls of the Imperial Capital were brilliantly situated, bordering a long moat that surrounded its exterior.
With the exception of internal riots, it would have been extremely difficult to take down this place by any other means.
Fike sighed as he pulled the curtains back down, entering the Imperial Capital of Rowei.
Once they were dropped off in the city, the driver parted with the group.
Regardless if they were heading to the Great Lieluo Desert or staying in the Imperial Capital for a few more days, the duties of the coachman had already come to an end.
Countless tall buildings stood in line as they made their way deeper into the city.
The men and women, old and young in the city were all dressed ostentatiously, wearing faces full of pride.
If Fike had not found out that a coup was about to take place here, no one would have imagined that such malicious killing intent was hiding behind such a prosperous scene.
The group had begun splitting up at this point.
Cisco led the group of professors to investigate the Heavenly King’s Palace’s people residing in the auditorium on the North Mountain.
Meanwhile, Fike tagged along with Lan Xi to the palace to investigate the happenings there.
After they had parted ways, Fike walked with Lan Xi hand in hand as the couple strolled through the huge city together.
“The palace is just past these tall buildings!”
Lan Xi explained.
She dragged Fike along, stopping periodically as they walked. Although they knew that they were pressed for time, it was hard not to be attracted by the new sights in front of them that greeted them on every street.
They strolled slowly.
Soon, the sky was already gradually turning dark.
“I can’t believe that this peaceful city is actually filled with followers of the Heavenly King’s Palace!”
Fike exclaimed.
“Sigh, I don’t know if we can really get rid of these rebels this time.
“If we fail, we’ll just have to pretend to be a pair of lovebirds!”
Lan Xi said sadly.
