Before Fike could recover from his shock, the King-tier Exotic Beast once again launched a new round of attacks.
The glinting blade in its hand suddenly burst out with a blinding light, and the surrounding temperature rapidly increased.
The sharp bone blade whizzed toward Fike and Sertia. Grabbing the girl by the collar, Fike quickly leapt onto another tree.
“Not good, Sertia. The other King-tiers have been attracted here. Run!”
Hearing his words, Sertia turned around, analysing the swarm of exotic beasts before hurriedly grabbing Fike’s hand and preparing to escape.
“We’re heading north. Let’s go!”
As soon as she had finished speaking, the King-tier scout instantly launched an attack.
A sharp thorn grew out of its palm before flying toward them instantaneously.
In a moment of desperation, the pair was forced to separate in order to evade.
“There’s no chance to counterattack at all! Fike, what should we do?”
Despite being in a desperate situation, Fike’s mind remained calm.
The gears in his head churned as he thought to himself.
‘If I stall these beasts, Sertia may still have a chance to survive, but the odds of myself surviving are negligible.’
“Ah, forget it. Sertia, you go on ahead. I’ll think of a way to stall them!”
Sertia blinked as she looked at Fike.
Although she had thought of him as mysterious, from what she could see, he was not stronger than her. In fact, he was much weaker.
However, at this critical moment, he would actually say such words to a person he had just met.
Sertia’s doubts and suspicions toward him were completely dispelled.
In truth, she had only agreed to travel with him because she had been curious about what secrets this mysterious youth held.
Back in Ledda City, she had been vaguely aware of an unusually powerful aura that she suspected was emitted from Fike’s body.
Throughout her days living in Miracle, no player had been left unafraid after witnessing her killing techniques.
Yet, this Fike even dared to travel with her.
Regardless, at this very moment, these thoughts seemed to hold little relevance.
Today, the both of them would most likely perish in this Miracle Forest.
“I think it’s better if I hold them off. Run away!
“Besides, how much combat power do you even have as a priest?”
Unbothered with waiting for the pair to stop their bickering, the scout quickly chased after Fike.
The sharp blade in its hand glinted maliciously as it found itself pressed against Fike’s throat at breakneck speed.
‘Am I going to die here now?’
In the blink of an eye, just as the sharp blade was about to cut through his throat, it was repelled by an unknown force.
A spark erupted, created by friction.
Sertia had drawn her blade, parrying the near-fatal attack.
“Sertia, watch out! Come over now!”
As soon as the words had left his mouth, seven or eight sharp thorns flew toward the girl.
In a moment of desperation, Fike launched himself and grabbed her slender waist as his foot made contact with a branch. With a swift flick of his foot, he launched himself upwards and once again flew into the air.
Under the moonlight, he noticed that Sertia’s face was beautiful, and felt a little embarrassed for a moment.
She seemed to have noticed his awkward expression. Understanding his thoughts, she pouted.
“How can you still think of such things at a time like this? We need to escape. Now. Run!”
Fike snapped back to reality.
His keen eyes observed the situation in the forest and the enemy’s movements.
“Nine of the beasts have already noticed us. We have to move quickly.”
“In this current situation, even if I stall them, it won’t be easy for you to escape. Even if we have to put our lives on the line, why don’t we fight? At worst, we’ll just restart our cultivation!”
Seeing that Sertia had mustered up the courage to say these words, Fike was determined not to hide his strength anymore.
“Alright, then I’ll heed your words!”
As the two of them came to a decision, another flurry of attacks came.
This time, it was no longer a one-on-one fight between a human and one Extoic Beast.
This time, the beasts did not have a so-called recovery phase.
Fourteen King-tier Exotic Beasts simultaneously launched their sharp thorns at the pair.
Utilizing his extremely sharp reflexes and tyrannical strength, Fike grabbed on to one of the thorns in mid air and swung it back, redirecting it into the group of beasts.
He had thought that it would hit at least one of them.
However, he underestimated the extreme speed of these creatures.
As if he was in a trance, Fike could only see their afterimages as they soared into the air.
The spike missed, finally sticking straight into the ground.
‘Looks like normal attacks won’t be able to hurt them at all.
‘So we can only resort to close-combat attacks!
‘But if we do that, how do we dodge their counterattacks? Their attack power is much higher than ours.”
A voice suddenly sounded in Fike’s spiritual world
…
After a second’s pause, Fike turned to Sertia.
“I have a plan. Can you think of a way to stall these beasts and buy me a few seconds?”
