Chapter 827 Angelic Transactions and Otherworldly Edibles
The vibrant cityscape stretched out before them, each building adorned with intricate designs and shimmering with an otherworldly glow. The air hummed with the harmonious laughter of angels and the gentle chatter of souls adorned with halos, mingling together in perfect harmony.
Desira wrinkled her nose in disgust at the sight of the vibrant city. "Yuck. So much goody-goody in here, I'm going to be sick," she muttered under her breath, her usual disdain evident in her voice. Despite her distaste, the souls around her paid her no mind, continuing to interact with each other with warmth and kindness.
Meanwhile, Vivi observed the scene with fascination. "I guess that everyone is getting along in here," she commented, her eyes wide with wonder as she took in the sights and sounds of the celestial city.
As they walked through the bustling streets, they encountered angels gliding gracefully through the air, their wings shimmering with iridescent hues as they laughed and conversed harmoniously with the souls below. The sound of their laughter was like music to the ears, filling the air with a sense of joy and tranquility.
"Hey, guys! Look at this strange fruit!" Azazel exclaimed suddenly, waving excitedly as he pointed towards a nearby stall. The fruit in question was unlike anything they had ever seen before, its vibrant colors and unique shape drawing their attention.
The fruit was a curious combination of hues, with shades of azure blue mingling with streaks of vibrant purple and hints of shimmering gold. Its surface was smooth and glossy, with a faint, sweet fragrance wafting from its core.
Intrigued, the group approached the stall to get a closer look. The vendor, a kindly soul with a halo perched atop his head, greeted them with a warm smile.
"Welcome, new souls! Would you like to try some of our celestial fruit?" he asked, gesturing towards the array of exotic fruits on display.
Curiosity piqued, Ren reached out to pick up one of the fruits, marveling at its weight and texture. Azazel paid no quarter and he quickly took a bite, and he was greeted with a burst of flavor unlike anything he had ever tasted before. The fruit was sweet and juicy, with a delicate balance of tartness that danced across his taste buds.
"This is amazing!" Azazel exclaimed, his eyes lighting up with excitement as he savored the unique flavor of the celestial fruit.
The others quickly followed suit, sampling the various fruits on offer and delighting in their otherworldly flavors. Each fruit was a masterpiece of taste and texture, a testament to the wondrous bounty of the Heaven Realm.
"All in all, that will be 50 feathers," the vendor said, rubbing his hands together eagerly.
Azazel continued to take bites of the fruit while the rest of the Warlords seemed indifferent to the vendor's statement.
"Ren, did he say feathers?" Evie asked. "Is that the currency here?"
A bead of sweat suddenly rolled down the vendor's face. "Yes, that's the currency here. Don't tell me you don't have any money?"
Ren and the others exchanged a concerned glance, while Azazel brazenly said, "You guys pay. I don't know anything about these feathers."
"Count me out too," Desira added.
Malifira shrugged, while Vivi and Iraelyn asked, "What feathers? Are they like feathers from angel wings?"
The vendor's eyelids twitched, and he tried to remain calm as he explained, "That's right. They're angel feathers."
"Whoa, that's disgusting," Desira remarked. "How can you make those filthy things the currency here?"
The vendor gasped and quickly glanced around to see if anyone had heard Desira's comment. "Shhh! What are you saying? Insulting the angels is forbidden here. And of course, angelic feathers are the currency here; this is the Heaven Realm, after all."
Malifira chuckled softly. "I think they just wanted to dominate everything here. How convenient of them to pay using only their feathers while the souls here have to work hard for it, right?"
The vendor wiped the beads of sweat from their forehead. "P-please, just stop talking. You'll get me into trouble with your mouths. How about this, just pay me back with feathers. If you have gil, you can convert them at the bank for feathers. The banks is just over there."
"Whoa, old man, you're that trusting?" Azazel commented with a smirk. "If it's in the Netherworld, don't think that you would get off lightly without paying. Gyahahaha!"
"I don't have any choice but to trust you guys. I'd rather trust you than have you cause trouble with the Angels here, so please, just go away," the vendor pleaded.
After the vendor firmly kicked them away, he swiftly shut his stall, leaving Ren and the others with no choice but to move on to another part of the town.
"Let's split up and meet there," Ren suggested, pointing to the wide plaza in the center of the town. "It would be a lot faster that way."
Azazel and the others nodded in agreement. "Right, that's a good idea," Azazel chimed in eagerly.
"And remember, don't make any trouble. And I'm talking about you, Azazel," Ren said, eyeing Azazel closely.
Azazel blinked innocently and pointed at himself. "Huh? Why me?"
"Don't worry, we'll make sure that he doesn't do anything to cause trouble," Malifira assured.
"Good," Ren replied, taking Evie's hand. "Let's go."
"Hey! I'm coming with you! Don't forget about me!" Elena exclaimed, falling into step beside them.
Azazel stuck out his tongue playfully and laughed. "Now, where should we go next?"
"I'm going to check out the arena over there. I might find something interesting–I mean, I might find something about Lorelai," Iraelyn announced.
"Then I'm going to browse the alchemy shops. They might have info about her," Malifira stated with a chuckle.
"Vivi will check out the food shops!"
"Hmm . . . as much as I want to go with Lord Azazel on a date, those clothing shops look so inviting. Maybe, just maybe, I'll take a quick look," Desira mused, her gaze drawn to the colorful displays on the shops.
It seemed as if an invisible force was pulling Desira towards the shops; she floated along, unable to resist the temptation.
Meanwhile, Azazel was left standing alone, shifting awkwardly from side to side. "Hey, what about keeping an eye on me?"
But when everyone ignored him, Azazel simply shrugged. "Then I'll go on my own then!" he declared with a wide grin, hopping excitedly around the town square.
