Chapter 1077: The War Forge Assembly (3)

?

As the director of the only branch of the Blacksmith Guild that was situated in an empire, it went without saying that many of the directors reached out to Byron during the assembly for his insights on the proposals.

After all, as he was near what was considered the center of humanity's power, it only made sense that the person manning the Blacksmith Guild there had a knowledge that would help out in the war, right?

Unfortunately for them, Byron would rather forge a mountain pile of equipment for years on end rather than think about the ramifications of what items would bring change to the current state of the war.

Of course, that did not mean that the man was uninterested in the war at all. If anything, it allowed him to get a close-up look on what was basically the most innovative pieces of equipment humanity had to offer.

...Even if most of them weren't really all that effective in the ongoing war.

"Did they really think an item like that would be accepted during the assembly?" As the latest director to head up the stage eventually returned to his seat with a slightly forlorn expression, Byron passively listened to the conversation that was happening beside him.

"They definitely have an idea on what to do," replied a man to the words that were spoken before, prompting Byron to recall that the former was the director of the Blacksmith Guild branch near the empire. "However, that's all they have."

"For the frontlines, one would need more than an idea for their proposal to be accepted." The man that spoke before nodded in agreement, with Byron being reminded that they were the director of the Blacksmith Guild near Algerie. "After all, any accepted proposal is swiftly going to be implemented in the war."

Just as Byron thought that the two would continue discussing the proposal that had been pitched just now, the director beside him decided to ask him a question regarding the topic, seemingly listening in to the conversation that was happening.

"What do you think, Director Byron? Do you think a proposal like that should have been accepted rather than rejected?"

Briefly frowning from having the attention be directed to him, Byron inwardly let out a sigh as the gears in his mind began to turn. "Just like what has been mentioned before, it would be better if the idea was in a practical form. After all, an idea on its own can only go so far."

"However, one must also take into consideration that it's being used in war, so the speed at which it could be crafted, as well as the ease of sourcing the materials needed to forge also need to be considered," continued the man, noticing that many of the directors around him were now listening in to their conversation.

Inwardly letting out a sigh once more, the man was about to finish his explanation, only to notice that a pair of familiar individuals to him were now heading up the stage.

Smiling as he thought about the conversation he had with them before, Byron briefly became silent as he found the right words to say. "In any case, it won't be long till a proposal like that gets accepted. I'd assume they'd return to pitch their idea a couple War Forge Assemblies from now."

"Anyways, I'm quite curious as to what my good friend Julian has to propose," said the man, easily piquing the interest of the other directors as they redirected their gazes towards the stage.

Seeing as he'd turned what was initially a conversation he didn't want to be a part of into an opportunity for Julian and Ylvar to garner the approval of more directors, Byron softly smiled as he focused all of his senses towards the upcoming proposal.

'I really hope you two don't disappoint.'

...

"Say, Valyr." As the two slowly made their way to the small stage up front, Julian whispered a couple of things to the young man. "Is it fine if we split up our proposal into two parts?"

Slightly frowning at first, it did not take long for the young man to understand Julian's intentions. "You plan on showing the armor first?"

"I do." Julian nodded, waiting for the director currently up stage to finish their proposal. "Plus, it only makes sense for me to propose it first, considering how long I've been pushing for its implementation."

"Do you need my help?" asked the young man in response, his expression that of slight contemplation.

"As long as you stand and show off the armor, that's more than enough," replied Julian, giving Valyr a signal with his eyes that it was going to be their turn soon. "Of course, if you need help explaining the arquebus to the others, I'll be glad to help out."

"We'll see." Valyr nodded back at the man's words, bringing up the chat screen in his mind as he sent a couple of messages to both Hal and Mystia.

'I hope everything goes smoothly,' thought the young man to himself, slowly heading up the stage with Julian as he continued talking with the two through chat.

Getting an update from Hal that he'd gotten the help of a few directors within the assembly to help make sure his proposal was approved, Valyr inwardly let out a sigh of relief as he and Julian faced the audience making up the War Forge Assembly.

Briefly glancing at Elder Alvin, as well as the general and secretary taking notes, Valyr was finally able to relax when Mystia sent back a message that she was already within the Imperial Production Guild, just waiting for the right time to reveal herself during the proposal.

With that, the young man gave Julian a light nod before putting on a calm expression.

Nodding back at Valyr, Julian took in a deep breath before proceeding to start his pitch. "Greetings, fellow directors. I am Julian Pyrrhia, the director and guild leader of Algerie's Kingdom branch of the Blacksmith Guild."

"Some of you might recognize me from the proposals I've pitched in the previous War Forge Assemblies. In fact, I plan on proposing the same idea to all of you."

"However, unlike before, I now bring you all the actual item behind the proposal, which is currently being worn by a blacksmith of my guild."

"Feel free to use your identification skills on the armor he's wearing." As these words left Julian's mouth, many of the directors eventually decided to do so as their curiosity got the better of them.

Then again, their curiosity immediately turned into disbelief the moment their eyes shifted towards the armor's description, causing the faint smile on Julian's face to become wider.

"Now, seeing as I've gotten all of your attention, it's time for me to explain my proposal in detail."

"The Aegis of Humanity."
