Chapter 844 Four Pillars: Dauntless Power
After giving both Hal and Vera time to refuel and get some rest, the trio made their way down the building housing their temporary camp.
Along the way, the two told Valyr about the few quirks they began to notice among the feral humans, prompting the latter to perk up his ears as they began to head a bit deeper into the city ruins.
"The quirk doesn't really matter that much as to whether it affects killing efficiency or not," said Hal with a slight shrug. "However, when I realized what was going on, it reminded me of the primitive humans we fought against back at the quadrants."
Hearing those words, Valyr raised his eyebrow in curiosity. "I'm assuming these feral humans have various fighting styles, then?"
"They do." Vera nodded. "But that's all it extends to. Whether or not they use magic or physical attacks in combat doesn't affect the way you kill them unlike the primitive humanoids."
"Then again, we have come across some feral humans that have been a pain to defeat, especially if you consider the fact that they've comprehended proper Intents," Hal said not long after, to which Vera nodded in agreement.
With that, the two talked about the feral humans they've come across with peculiar styles, such as one that seemed to have mastered most weapon styles to ever exist on Veldanyr.
With an Intent that allowed it to smoothly transition between the various styles, Hal took a long time to finally end that feral human's life, having to push both his Intent of the Blade and his blade skills to the furthest they could go in order to do so.
In Vera's case, her bane was a feral human that seemed to have mastered a magic art that nullified most of the things she did to help Hal out in combat.
Of course, she claimed that it was more of a nuisance rather than an actual bane, considering how changing her combat style allowed her to swiftly defeat the feral human for good.
"I'm guessing you guys are close to completing the quest, then," said Valyr after they were done explaining, recalling the quest they've obtained from the system.
Knowing fully well that most of what the two were receiving had something to do with Vaughn, Valyr faintly smiled as the two brought up their quest screens once more, seeing the multiple rewards the man had attached to them.
"We planned on taking a quick break before making the final push for the quest rewards," Hal told Valyr, only to let out a bit of laughter soon after. "Then, lo and behold, we met you just as we returned to the temporary camp."
With Valyr letting out laughter of his own in response, the three continued to head a bit deeper into the city ruins, eventually stopping at an area that allowed more feral humans to congregate in one spot than normal.
Finding a suitable nearby building to turn into their temporary base, the three swiftly made their way up to its rooftop.
Once there, the three moved to the edge of the building that allowed them to see the feral humans in greater detail, only for Hal and Vera to look at Valyr soon after with knowing smiles.
"It's your time to shine," said Hal with an amused chuckle.
"Show us everything you've gotten from that inheritance." Vera followed up, letting out a chuckle of her own as well.
"Don't get your hopes up too much," replied Valyr as he laughed.
"But I won't disappoint them either!"
Whoosh!
Jumping off the building, Valyr took in a deep breath in midair as he swiftly found out a spot that would allow him to fight against the most feral humans at once.
"[Azure Dragon Movement Arts]."
"[Blink of the Azure Dragon]!"
Fwoosh!
Summoning the Azure Energy within his body, Valyr's body soon resembled the hazy outline of an azure dragon as he arrived at the spot he found in less than an instant.
Bang!
With the speed and momentum he had generated from the movement, the ground surrounding him faintly rumbled, eliciting the attention of the feral humans nearby.
"Graahh!!!"
"Raagghh!!!"
Unsurprisingly, the sight of an actual human caused the feral humans nearby to go into a frenzy as most of them began to charge towards Valyr.
In response to that, the young man activated [Limit Break: Second Verse], bolstering all of his stats by a certain degree.
Then, slamming his palms to the ground, he activated [Refined Mana Barrier], imbuing it with the element of Earth as he powered it with Azure Energy.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
With the sturdy nature of Earth as well as the inherent power contained within the Azure Sign, it went without saying that the barrier remained standing even after multiple feral humans began to strike it.
Taking the opportunity to sneak a glance at the two, Valyr slightly grinned when he saw how his dominant power left the two at a loss for words.
Then again, he was as shocked as them when he found out how powerful Azure Energy truly was when used in combat.
'Well, Sellifer didn't gain all those titles for nothing,' thought the young man to himself in amusement, raising one of his hands to the air as he conjured a bunch of braided energy.
Then, in front of the duo's eyes, Valyr gradually transformed the braided energy into the Azure Sign, allowing its inherent power to spread throughout the area as he sent it flying into the skies.
Infusing the Fire element into it, he then swung his raised hand downward, only for azure phoenixes to begin raining down from the sky.
"[Four Paths Azure Magic Arts]."
"[Azure Phoenix's Lament]!"
Screech!!!
Accompanied by a loud screech, the azure phoenixes soon crashed down onto the feral humans, removing a great chunk of HP from the feral humans as azure flames began to scatter across the ground.
Within seconds, the vicinity surrounding Valyr transformed into a field of azure flames as azure phoenixes continued to rain down from above.
Eventually, some of the feral humans began to succumb from both the phoenixes above and the flames below, prompting the young man to begin hearing notification sounds echo throughout his mind yet again.
Though, with how he'd only unleashed a single combat skill so far…
Valyr understood that his killing spree was just beginning.
