?

"Haah..."

Waking up from a long slumber, Valyr eventually felt his consciousness come to, giving it the time it needed to become fully awake before getting out of bed.

Doing a few basic exercises to get the blood going, the young man took a look outside the window in his part of the room, his expression becoming curious as he noticed that the sun was only about to set.

Wondering if he'd slept for over a day or more just like before, Valyr soon brought up his status screen, immediately letting out a sigh of relief once he found out that he'd only slept for roughly half a day.

"Thank the heavens. If I slept any longer, I'm sure Julian would've been filling up the chat feature with his messages right now," muttered the young man to himself at the thought, slightly chuckling soon after.

Making his way to the main area of the room, the young man decided to rinse his face under a bit of water, ordering himself his dinner for the day after that.

"I should probably give Julian and the others some sort of heads-up." After confirming the order he made with the inn, Valyr eventually sat on a nearby chair as he commanded the system to bring up the chat function.

Ding!

Looking through the screen before him to see if he'd received any messages, Valyr faintly smiled after seeing that Tristan and the others from Astarto Village were the only ones that sent him one.

Seeing that none of the messages they sent radiated immense concern for him from the get- go, Valyr decided to read through them one by one, only for his expression to become weird.

"Huh. Tristan, Myst, and Alfaera all sent me a message to see if I was free to visit the village in a few days."

Muttering these words to himself, the young man faintly scratched the back of his head as he pondered over the plausible reasons why they were reaching out to him.

Fortunately, the gears in his mind did not have to turn for too long for him to figure out the reasons for their message, immediately recalling the curse that had been ailing him for quite some time already.

"A Monster Tide, huh?" Coming to this conclusion, Valyr mulled over the topic for a bit before replying to their messages, telling them that he might be able to make a visit to the place within the next few days.

While writing out his responses to their messages, he briefly wondered how much Astarto Village, which had obtained the foundations to become a town thanks to his contribution, had changed while he was away in the inheritance.

"After all, over 9 months have passed since then," said Valyr to himself at the thought. "I wouldn't be surprised if they've already expanded into an actual town at this point. Or, at the very least, they've expanded their territory to be more like that of a town."

"Then again, it does make me wonder how they've defended themselves against three Monster Tides in those 9 months," thought Valyr to himself out loud after that, only to stop his train of thought after hearing a knock on the door.

Receiving his dinner for the day, the young man decided to push such thoughts to the side for the meantime, closing the screen he brought up as he savored each and every bite of what would probably be his last meal for quite some time.

"That really hit the spot." Letting out a satisfied sigh the moment he was finished eating, Valyr took in a few deep breaths to compose himself before recalling the thought he had before he went to sleep.

"So, I've decided to focus on improving my species as my next step," said Valyr after some time, thinking to himself out loud. "With that in mind, I have two methods I could use to do that."

As for what those two methods were, the first one was the reward he'd gotten from Vaughn, which was the Records of Unfettering and Transcending Races.

From what he could recall, the Records was comprised of 10 stages in total, giving him the ability to ascend his species by two whole tiers if he were to go through all go.

Then again, even if he wasn't able to reach the final stage of the Records, even reaching the 3rd stage was more than enough to push his species by an intermediary tier, which was more than enough if he only aimed to become a High Human.

As for the second method, it was a set of instructions Sellifer had given him on atavism back when he was still in the inheritance.

Though atavism was a method a considerable number of humans wanted for themselves to improve their strength, Valyr didn't get the same feeling of confidence from the method unlike the Records Vaughn gave him.

Then again, recalling Sellifer's journey to atavism from her memories, the only reason why she was successful in achieving atavism was because of the Serpent Maiden's assistance.

'I sure hope the chances of succeeding in atavism with her instructions are at least decent enough,' thought the young man to himself, faintly wondering whether to use the communication method Sellifer gave him to ask her about it.

In the end, he decided to leave atavism alone for the meantime, instead opting to go with the more reliable route.

Whoosh!

Sitting cross-legged on the floor, Valyr took a calming breath as he brought up part of the information he'd gotten from Vaughn regarding the Records of Unfettering and Transcending

Races.

Swoosh...

Focusing his attention on the 1st stage of the Records, Valyr unknowingly began to move his energy in an abstruse pattern, seemingly outlining the various pathways throughout his body with energy one by one.

Continuing to immerse himself in the information he'd pulled up, the energy in his body continued to seemingly move out of its own accord, with Prime Azure Energy, mana, and even Shadow Energy reinforcing these formed pathways bit by bit.

Ding!

"Hmm?" Just as he felt like he'd understood the 1st stage of the Records, a notification from the system interrupted his focus, causing him to slightly frown as he brought up his

notification screen.

Though, as he read the contents of the notification he received, that frown quickly disappeared, instead being replaced with utter confusion.
