Chapter 168 168 Epic Skill: Inspect

?

"We'll take the quest," Alex said.

[Quest/Task]

[Retrieve leaves of the moonlight plant]

[Reward: 1000 blue coins for each leaf along with 50 health potions]

[Failure: Relationship with Matthew would decrease]

[Time limit: One week]

"But remember, I'll only give you the potions if you bring more than 50 leaves, and be careful, I heard the dangers in the great forest have been increasing lately"

"Don't worry, we'll bring the leaves, you don't have to worry about that, so what about the 10 health potions?" Alex said.

"Oh okay...here you go," Mathew said as he handed the ten health potions to Alex, "When you get back, I'll make 40 more"

"Thanks," Alex said as he collected it, "Okay, Melissa I'm sure you don't need health potions right?"

"Yes, I have enough," Melissa said.

"Okay, I'm sure it's still early, if we leave now we'll make it to the forest by nightfall," Alex said as he handed them potions.

Each of them took two of the potions except Melissa who already had, and Alex quickly placed his in the inventory.

Now that they were actually in the game, the inventory was going to help them a lot, when traveling they wouldn't need to carry items with them, and they had access anytime.

"You got the quest right, check your map if the location of the quest is visible to you or not?" Max asked.

Alex opened his map and the location of the quest was indicated by a red dot but the map was still covered, including the place where the red dot was, he could only see the dot.

"I know the place, but we'll have to get there first, let's go," Alex said as he opened the door.

Alex and the rest of them stepped outside and it was hectic, people were running everyone getting weapons, armor, buying food, and clothes, everywhere was busy and something wasn't right, Alex couldn't tell the difference between players and NPCs.

"Is it me or something isn't right?" Max asked.

"Something is definitely wrong, but what is it?" Lynx asked.

"Ohh, we can't see the floating information anymore," Rebecca said.

The hovering information above each of the players and NPC heads was gone, Alex was sure when he came here he could still see them but now they were gone.

"Wait...this is bad right, if we can't see then we won't be able to tell if a beast is powerful or not, or the HP it has," Max said.

"Shit, and we already accepted the mission," Gabriel said.

'This isn't a game anymore so we lost that ability, but I got a skill capable of doing just that, I should test it out, Inspect' Alex mumbled as he thought of the skill.

[DDragon]

[Level 18]

[Alice]

[Level 15]

Alex looked around and he could see the name and levels of all the people around, now he found the use of his Epic skill.

"Yes it works perfectly, that guy over there is a player, while the girl beside him is an NPC," Alex said as he pointed across the street.

"Huh! How did you know?" Lynx asked.

"I told you guys I got an Epic skill right, I can Inspect the stats of anyone, I can even go deeper and see a player system Information," Alex said with a smile.

"What!!"

"Wow, that's great"

"Truly an Epic skill, so what do we do next, are we heading straight to the forest or we're going somewhere first," Max said.

"I don't have an armor, my armor was destroyed when I fought that bandit leader so I need a new one, and we need food, I'm starting to..."

"I'm already hungry, like really hungry, I didn't want to talk but I'm really hungry," Lynx said.

"Okay then, we'll eat first," Alex said as they struggled through the streets and finally got to an eatery.

The six of them sat down on a chair and a young lady walked towards them with little paper in her hands.

"Here's the menu, what would you like today," the girl said in a lovely voice.

Alex and the rest of them looked at the menu and confusion was written all over their faces, they had no idea what food the eatery had, and the names of the food didn't ring any bells.

"What is the best food here, we're having trouble choosing?" Alex asked the girl.

"Oh, personally for me, I'll go with this one, it has..."

"We'll take it, as long as you recommend it, I'm sure it'll be delicious," Alex said with a smile.

The girl chuckled with her face slightly red as she took the menu and walked away, the five of them were staring at Alex with smiles on their faces.

"What?" Alex asked.

"Nothing, I just hope the food isn't gross, I'm sure I can cook better than them," Max said.

"The one she pointed contains meat so at least that's good" Lynx said.

"Max you are a good cook right, why don't you start a restaurant and cook modern foods, I'm sure your restaurant would be a hit," Gabriel said.

"That's not a bad idea," Max nodded his head and Melissa laughed.

"Now that we don't have anything to do, we should think of what to do next, after the quest are we leaving this city, cause we haven't been anywhere, we started a journey to Zenith City but we were attacked," Lynx said.

"Yes, after the quest we're leaving here, and what Matthew said is still bothering me, the dangers of the great forest are increasing lately, Melissa does it have to do with the update?" Alex asked.

"You are right, the update is supposed to increase the numbers of beasts around to raise the danger level, but also to give players chances to level up quickly, I'm sure the update would already be put in place before we arrive," Melissa said.

"Wait, so the numbers of beasts were increased, you guys know we are heading somewhere where we have to fight off undead warriors to get leaves, last time we were greatly outnumbered and the update wasn't in place" Max spoke.

"Yes, but we are more powerful now and we have two more people here, and on that matter Lynx you should get yourself a dagger so you can protect yourself in close combat," Alex said.

"I got a dagger before, it didn't deal much damage so I don't use it"

"This is no more Nova Online, if you can get a clean hit and slash a person's throat, he'll surely die," Alex said.

"Here you go," the girl said while looking at Alex.

She placed the food she brought in front of Alex and went back to the counter to bring the rest of them.

"Here you go," the girl said as she brought the last one, before leaving she came close to Alex and whispered, "I put in extra meat for you"

"Really, thanks," Alex said with a smile as the girl walked away.

'What is she telling him, that bitch' Melissa cursed inwardly.

The food in front of them was a simple meal of bread and a bowl of soup filled with meat and some veggies.

"There's no point staring at it, we should just eat," Alex said.

"Okay, go first and see how it tastes," Max said to Alex.

"I'll taste it," Melissa said as she took the spoon and tasted the soup, "Hmmm, it's pretty tasty"

The rest of them quickly dig in and the food was indeed delicious, after eating Alex walked over to the counter to pay for the food.

"Hey, do you stay in the city, I haven't seen you here before," the girl asked.

"I'm new here, I came a few days ago," Alex said.

"I'm Arya, what's your name?"

"I'm Alex"

Telling someone his name was Reaper was weird so he was going to go with Alex, now that they were stuck here he needed to make friends with the NPCs because they may help him someday.

"Do you have some time off tomorrow, maybe we can get to know each other" the girl said.

"I don't know, but..."

"We're leaving" Melissa spoke.

Before Alex could finish speaking Melissa walked towards them and Interlocked hands with Alex and dragged him away while staring at Arya.

'I don't know why but for some reason, that girl pisses me off, and I got myself into a bigger problem, how do I explain this' Melissa mumbled as Alex was looking at her in surprise.
