Chapter 171 – Updated Later

The helicopter landed in the backyard of the cabin after the blizzard had subsided. Del nodded and gave both of them a thumbs up after the debriefing. Needless to say, now they had a new target, someone named Duliarre.

From the window, there was around four others special force soldiers inside of that helicopter. All of them were wearing snow camouflage military outfit and balaclava. The convoy had arrived at the snow-covered region, the camouflage would be perfect. Del was no different either.

Not only that, but all of them were also wearing the MOP suit for dealing with the chemical or nuclear threat that the trucks might have. After all, the cargo were suspected to be a weapon of mass destruction. All of them were using codename, including Del himself.

His codename, Blackfox, was not really made up. It was a codename assigned to him by Mcnamara and Zastava for the sake of easier communication and Anna was the same case as him. It wouldn't be long until he got accepted into the military unit as part of a more official unit.

"Well, girls, I think you two can enjoy yourself, I will go out." Del stood up from the couch and he headed for the door and opened it. The remaining blizzards still gave him the chills. It was still three in the morning, after all.

The helicopter downwash further pushed the cold air into his face, and he would be lying to say that it wasn't freezing. It was like opening your freezer in hte middle of the night, but make it tenfold. The pilot was the usual Morris Osborne and the other people were probably part of the FSB or SOG.

Del entered the helicopter and closed the helicopter door. The soldiers were looking at him. He was referred as the new guy, or the newbie. It made sense, he thought. This was the operators that had spent only God knew how long in Ilbisitrum. These guys weren't pushover.

"Blackfox, huh? Nice to meet you," one of the operatives said.

"Nice to meet you too."

"For a boy, you made quite a noise, don't you think?" The same operator asked.

"I don't have any intention in hiding it either," Del replied.

He nodded. "Well, it doesn't matter for me. I heard you are reliable, that's why we trust you. So, your task is quite simple to be honest, I want you to back us up using your machine gun, is that clear enough?"

"Yes sir."

"About the ambush position, you'll be placed on top of the hill overlooking the ambush point. Keep an eye on the truck, once you spot it, just lay down suppressing fire for us."

"I understand."

"Good, and by the way, try not to shoot the cargo, ok?"

"Sure."

"Let's take off then."

The helicopter lifted up from the ground, leaving the cabin below it. The helicopter itself was the regular MH-60 that Del always used when he needed a close air support but not wanting to call the big and heavy fighter jet. This time, it was fully loaded with autocannons and miniguns. No explosive weaponry was available on its pylon, it might be because of the mission order not to attack the trucks directly.

"I want to make it clear again, but we won't be able to use any radio communication so I want everyone to remember their own role clearly, understand?" The operator asked.

"Why?" Del didn't have any idea on why.

"A jamming aircraft will be flying over us. The only way the pilot would be able to see our targets are by seeing our laser marker," The operator said.

"Oh, so we only can use our laser designator to mark our target?" Del asked.

"Yup, but don't mark your laser on us, ok?"

"No problem."

Jamming aircraft? Del didn't remember the intelligence agencies bought one of those aircrafts. Well, it would make things way easier since he didn't have to worry about incoming reinforcement since their radio would also be disabled.

"And one more thing, we only have ten minutes, so make every minute counts."

"Yes sir."

If Del remembered correctly, there was a guarantee that someone would be dispatched to the last-known position of any military personnel if they didn't report for a defined amount of time. In this convoy, ten minutes might be the mark.

Reinforcement would usually consist of Ilbistirum military special force soldiers, they would be big trouble, even with the amount of hardwares that they used. Mainly because special force soldiers used magical spell that could easily kill an infantry.

The air support would deal with them though, that was the insurance. Even though the special force soldiers were very much a threat, they wouldn't be much problem against the AIM-120 AMRAAM missile or the AIM-9 Sidewinder missile that the F-15 usually carried on its air-to-air missile loadout.

Del opened the information list on his tablet. The operation would be commenced on a valley. The bottom of the valley was where the road which the truck would be traveling in. The other operators would be hiding near the bushes on the bottom of the valley while Del would be placed on the higher ground to provide the suppressing fire.

"We will handle the hard part, you just sit tight and watch our backs, is that clear?" The operator asked.

Del nodded. "Very clear."

The helicopter didn't take very long until arriving at the valley. The valley was covered in thick layer of snow, probably from the previous blizzard. If not for the NVG that they wore, they wouldn't be able to see anything on the ground.

Unlike Earth, standard dispatching protocol from the helicopter was just to jump from the helicopter once you arrived at your designated position. Del jumped from the helicopter and briefly flew towards the direction of his post which was on top of a hill.

He laid down on the ground and deployed the bipod of his PKP machine gun and aimed it at the direction of the other operators. He heard jet flying over him, but he couldn't figure out where.

He checked on the headset of that was connected to his radio. He tuned to the frequency, and it was static. No voice was coming out of that frequency. It was safe to assume that the jammer indiscriminately jammed every single communication device in the area.

Del hoped that the special force soldiers didn't appear and stab him from his back. He wasn't sure whether he would be accurate enough that he wouldn't shoot any cargo on the back of the truck. Still, he wondered how the operators would stop that vehicle.

Del used the scope of his PKP to observe what the operators were doing. It seemed that they were doing something on the side of the road. From the looks of it, they were planting some kind of explosives. To be honest, it was weird.

He wasn't allowed to shoot bullets at the cargo, and yet, these people were going to use explosives to stop the convoy. What if they accidentally released the biochemical agent or the nuclear radiation into the environment? Del really hoped that they knew what they were doing.

Two of the operators went to the direction where the truck would be coming from. He also planted an explosive there. There was a significant gap between the explosives, Del wondered what they were planning to do.

The operators ran away from their planted explosives and hid among the snow and the bushes. The amount of explosives in those trucks would be more than enough to disable a tank, let alone a truck.

The convoy was approaching closer and closer. Del put his eyes on those convoy, he waited until the shooting starts. He wouldn't engage before the other operators engaged the convoy. The first truck drove past the first explosives. Nothing happened.

The convoy moved very slowly, maybe because of the shitty visibility on that valley. The second truck moved past the first explosives, nothing happened either. What they were planning?

Suddenly. BOOM. The bombs exploded in front of the truck. The truck stopped, but what happened next could only be described as quite genius. The explosion created a small avalanche. The avalanche rolled down the hill and burried the road in front of the first truck.

BOOM. The second explosion created the exact same effect. Del prepared himself for the engagement, he made sure that all of the bullets were loaded into the box of his PKP. The shooting started. The operators started opening fire at the windows of the trucks.

They moved efficiently, and without any noise due to their suppressor. In seconds, they stopped the convoy and started searching the convoy. Del was impressed. Heck, he felt like a spectator in that operation. It was not shameful, it just that he felt useless. He watched the road, left and right. There was no possible contact, yet. Hopefully, it stayed that way.. Engaging hostile was too much of a hassle.
