Chapter 309 Engagement Promise
Chapter 309 Engagement Promise
Silence followed as none of them had any intentions of giving up.
There main aim was to get the other to agree to their negotiation and convince them.
At last, Mr. Fang gave up.
"Alright, I accept the deal." He said reaching out with his right hand as the corners of his lips tugged upwards.
Zhang Liling reached out her hand to shake his as she managed a small smile.
The deal was one.
Taking his hand back, Fang Bingwen suggested. "Why don't we get engaged soon?"
As soon as those words echoed in the empty space they were standing in, Zhang Liling's eyes widened in their sockets.
"Engaged? Are you joking?" she asked in surprise.
"I don't joke with important things. I feel that we have known each other for a while now. One year and a few months is not little. We don't need to date for 5 years before getting married."
Fang Bingwen did not believe in long dating before finding out if his partner was good enough for him to want to spend the rest of his life with her.
As long as you compliment each other, plus love, you guys are good to go.
He truly had no patience to date someone for a long time before deciding to settle with them.
Knowing his intentions, Zhang Liling was happy about it, but she did not immediately agree with him.
"If we get engaged before my brand launch, everyone is going to say that you helped me to come this far, and I don't want to hear that. I don't want to feel useless."
Zhang Liling did not hesitate before letting her fears known to him.
She knew how this media worked, plus the mind set of the majority of the people.
They wouldn't believe that she could do things by herself. They would always associate her wins with the people around her, and she didn't like it.
Fang Bingwen understood that. Letting a sigh escape his thin lips, he took her hand and led her outside the building.
"You don't want us to get engaged till you have launched your brand?"
"Yes," Zhang Liling replied. Then seeing that they were leaving the store open, she diverted his attention to it.
"We are not going to lock this place up?" she asked, with a subtle of confusion visible on her face.
After learning that he was the building owner, all sorted of thoughts began to flood her head.
When they had come, the place had been open and now they were going to leave it same way?
Luckily, Mr. Fang did not allow her to think too much about it as he quickly explained things to her.
"The caretaker is around the corner. He would come to lock this place up as soon as we leave."
The reason she had not seen anyone up until now , was because he didn't want anyone in their space, hence he gave an instruction earlier.
"I see..." Zhang Liling trailed off as her eyes scanned the building one more time before getting into the front passenger seat of the car
As soon as their car hit the road, Mr. Fang continued with their earlier conversation.
"Liling, no matter what you do, people are going to have their opinion which is normal in this society. So if you are afraid that people would think you got help from me, your mother or your father before starting to your business, nothing is going to change no matter you do. Not everyone is going to listen."
Fang Bingwen did not stop there. He continued with eyes on the road as he still had some things left to say.
"If you have any other reason to postpone our engagement, you can let it out now. But you see the one you said earlier, it doesn't count."
If she said she wasn't ready to be engaged, he would respect her decision. But if her reason has something to do with people's opinion about her matter, turn that just didn't make any sense to him.
A long sigh escaped from Zhang Liling's lungs. Sinking deep into contemplation, she refused to utter any word yet.
She was considering what he had just said to see if they could go with it.
Taking a moment off the road, Fang Bingwen tilted his head to the side as his eyes immediately found her face.
He could see the lines on her forehead and her brows that were furrowed into worry.
Thinking that he was forcing her to follow his lead, he decided to make things easy for her.
He would hate to five her to do anything against her wishes for his selfish interest.
Sighing, he turned his gaze back to the road.
"We can get engaged without letting the media know. They can find out by themselves."
Instantly, Zhang Liling turned her gaze to him as she left her pondering mode.
Raising her left hand to him, she said, "Once a ring is attached to my finger, they are going to snap it and put up a write up. Guess the first thing that would come to their mind?"
Bringing her hand away from his view, she answered, "We are engaged."
Shifting her gaze to the tall buildings along the commercial Street the passed by, she said, "If you don't mind me dumping my engagement ring at home before going out, I'm in this deal."
Her idea was nothing for Fang Bingwen who immediately agreed to it.
And to the surprise of Zhang Liling, he added...
"Let's go to City C in X country to pay a visit to FJ Styles after our engagement."
"What? Are you serious, Mr. Fang? You're going to take me to FJ Styles headquarters???" Zhang Liling screamed as her hand flew over her mouth to stifle the noise.
If not that the car windows were rolled up and tinted, surely, nothing would have stopped her screams from attracting unwanted attention to them.
But her joy was worthy of being expressed.
Finally, he was going to take her to meet the famous loving couple she admired from afar?
Zhang Liling felt butterflies in her stomach as she so badly wanted to hug and kiss Mr. Fang, but because he was behind the steering, she didn't want to cause an accident.
After all, she was get to meet Fu Hua and Jia Li.
As if understanding what his statement truly meant, she quickly asked as her two rolls of white teeth came into view.
"Mr. Fang, can we get engaged now?"
