Stella was speechless. 'What a terrible timing!' she thought.

Keegan walked over and stood between Marshall and Stella. He glanced at the talisman in Marshall's

hand before he grabbed and examined it.

With a nonchalant tone, he said, "If it's that effective, maybe you should snag one of these talismans

for your love life, Marshall."

Marshall paused, as he locked eyes with Keegan.

Felicity, who was nestled in Vermont's arms, widened her eyes. 'Is this about to turn into a showdown?

Are they going to throw punches?'

Clearly, Felicity did not understand Keegan.

'Only kids would get into fights. Keegan is definitely more immature than this,' Stella said to herself.

Just as that thought crossed her mind, Keegan dropped the talisman into a cup on the table, and it

floated on the water.

He hesitated for a moment before he swiftly reached out to retrieve it. However, in the rush, he pushed

the talisman even deeper.

When he finally pulled it out, the talisman had been soaked, and the symbols on it were now blurred.

Keegan frowned and looked visibly troubled. "This thing is

now wet. Can it still work?"

Marshall's finger curled slightly, as he stared at the talisman briefly. He then slowly looked up and

offered a faint smile." We can only make a wish at the wishing well once a year. Overdoing it

diminishes its power. Stella wished for your safe return, and it worked. As for me, I got her this

talisman. We've exhausted our wishes for the year."

Keegan's face noticeably darkened.

Felicity gripped Vermont's collar in excitement and reveled in the idea of the drama unfolding. 'Oh, my.

The adrenaline!'

Stella took the talisman from Keegan and remarked, "Maybe the water will activate its powers. It's like

taking it to the next level. Nice touch, Keegan. Thank you."

Marshall chuckled, "I'll head out now. Take care of yourself and those injuries."

"Drive safe," Stella replied.

Marshall nodded and turned to Keegan. "Look after her," he said.

Upon hearing that, Keegan felt annoyed and thought, 'Who does he think he's talking to?'

Stella was worried that his jealousy might flare up, and he would say something that would give her

away. But, Keegan bit back his words and simply said, "I think you should worry more about yourself."

Following that, Marshall left without saying anything further.

Felicity was eager to say something, but Vermont carried her out and said, "Come on. We should leave

too. Let's not disturb Stella while she recovers."

Felicity tugged at his hair and gritted her teeth. "She's not even injured for real," she said.

Vermont kissed her cheek and whispered, "You clueless thing, do you want to be the third wheel? Be

careful. Keegan has a temper. He might get mad at us."

Felicity immediately closed her mouth.

With the two gone, the room settled into silence. Keegan glanced at the talisman in Stella's hand,

pursed his lips, and said, "Let's go. I'll take you home."

Stella was about to get up.

However, Keegan pressed her shoulder and bent down to carry her in his arms.

Stella was taken aback, and Keegan explained, "You're covered in blood. What would people say

about me if I let you walk downstairs by yourself?"

Taken aback, Stella thought, 'Fine, I'll go along with your act.'

She pursed her lips and said, "So what?" However, her hand did not loosen.

Keegan looked down and chuckled. He lifted her a bit higher and carried her away.

Once they were in the elevator, Stella leaned on his shoulder and asked, "Are you going to the police

station later?"

"Yeah." Keegan thought for a moment before he explained," Not to bail someone, though. Just for

some routine

questioning."

"Then, I'll go with you."

Keegan hesitated, looked at her blood-soaked condition, and asked, "How would you handle the police

if they were to assess your injuries?"

His question left Stella at a loss for words.
