"What's wrong with that? He's Stella's fiance. Why would you want to get so close to him?" said Darcie.

Jaylene frowned. "This is not what you said back then. You even had Ms. Crosby try to match US up.

You-" "Don't talk about the past," Darice cut her off, ' Back then, Stella had not returned to the Hall

family, and they were still divorced, so I supported you. But now Stella is your stepsister, and she's

engaged to Keegan.

"Instead of wasting time on a guy who's got someone else in his heart, focus on your career.

"Once you're in charge of Caline, you can choose any guy you want. You'll be the one doing the

picking, not waiting around."

Darcie's words made a lot of sense and were pretty forward-thinking. But when you're deep in love, it's

like talking to a wall.

Jaylene asked, "What about you? You stayed with Dad even though he couldn't get over his dead wife.

In the end, you still got what you wanted, right? If you can do it, why can't I?"

Darcie's expression darkened. "I can do it because my rival is a person who's not alive anymore.

'However much your dad misses her, she's not coming back. Instead, he'll always appreciate how

devoted I was, taking care of his mom and risking my life to find him in that dangerous place!

"He saw all the effort, the blood, climbing those rocks to desperately search for him. He knows how

important he is to me. That's why, even if he doesn't love me the same, he won't easily leave me.
