Chapter 124

Moses laughed casually and leaned toward Joshua. “I’m doing this for you, you know?”

Joshua stared at him, clearly conveying the message that he had no right to say such a thing.

“Now that it’s just the two of us…. Tell me. How did you feel when you found out about Cynthia’s unresolved first love?”

Moses was all about the gossip.

In one gulp, Joshua downed a glass of wine and said coldly, “I didn’t feel anything.”

“Stop putting on an act. If you really felt nothing, would you have asked Cynthia for the name, age, and profession of her first love while playing Truth or Dare? Moses called him out.

Joshua remained silent.

This guy was so annoying

“Sometimes you have to face your own feelings.” Moses hit the nail on the head.

The purpose of tonight’s game was to make Joshua realize that he liked Cynthia, and his reaction to the question about her first love proved that he cared a lot about her unresolved feelings for that person.

Moses decided to play a more serious card. “How would you feel if Cynthia’s first love came back and asked her to divorce you and marry him?”

“She wouldn’t dare.” Joshua’s eyes turned cold.

“Why wouldn’t she? You divorced her for your first love, so why couldn’t she do the same for hers?”

Joshua’s icy gaze swept over him, and a chilling aura emanated.

In the end, he just said, “It’s not the same.”

“Well, if you say so.”

Moses had said all he needed to say, leaving the rest up to Joshua.

“Grandpa’s 80th birthday party is in the works. If you want Cynthia to stay married to you a little longer, you can tell her about it tomorrow morning.”

After saying this, Moses went back to his room.

Joshua sat alone in the brightly lit living room, thinking about Moses’s words and feeling a wave of restlessness in his heart.

He reached up and loosened his tie, smoothing his breathing.

At three in the morning. Joshua fell asleep on the couch.

Suddenly, there was a faint sound of a door opening upstairs, and he woke up as he was a light sleeper.

Joshua looked toward the sound and saw Cynthia coming down from upstairs.

She wore light–colored pajamas, and her eyes had returned to their usual indifference.

Joshua knew that Cynthia had sobered up.

Cynthia had indeed sobered up. Even though she did not have a good tolerance for alcohol, she could wake up sober after sleeping for a few hours.

She was thirsty and had planned to go downstairs for some water when she saw Joshua sitting on the couch, looking at her.

Their eyes met, and they were enveloped in an invisible bond. Cynthia stood at the corner of the stairs, facing Joshua.

Joshua was the first to speak, his voice low and hoarse, “Do you want some water?”

“Mmhmm,” Cynthia replied softly.

Although Joshua could not hear her response, he could tell from her expression.

He stood up, poured a glass of warm water, and placed it before her when she came downstairs. Then, he said slowly, “Have some warm water.”

“Thank you.” Cynthia said as she took the glass.

Joshua noticed she finished the water in one go and knew she was extremely thirsty. When she put down the glass, he asked, “Do you want more?”

“No, thank you,” Cynthia replied.

She did not want to linger around anymore. Last night, she was not completely drunk and remembered everything she said and did while playing games.

Those were best left forgotten!

“Can we talk?” Joshua asked, his gaze fixed on her. His mind was filled with thoughts of her first love and the person named Bailey.
