Chapter 407

Yoel glanced at Joshua through the rearview mirror and ventured, “If you don’t want to let Ms. Yates go, why don’t you ask her to stay?”

“You think it’s that easy?” Joshua retorted. If asking her to stay would help, he would have done it a long time ago.

Yoel touched his nose, chose to stay silent, and concentrated on driving.

“Didn’t you say Moe was working as an assistant at another company? Why is he with Cynthia now?” Joshua finally started to

think

“I’m not entirely sure. He said his previous hoss is on vacation, and he’s currently working part–time for Ms. Yates,” Yoel honestly confessed.

“And if you were in his shoes, would you take on a part–time job? Joshua’s tone grew colder, his gaze darker.

Yoel, noticing Joshua’s expression, decided to answer honestly, “No, I wouldn’t.”

He would also take time off if his boss were on vacation. Regardless, he would still receive his salary, whether he worked or not. Most importantly, Moe was not in need of money. He’d saved all his earnings over the years, so there was no question of being short on funds.

Joshua was beginning to have his suspicions. “Why would Moe take a part–time job with Cynthia?”

Yoel was at a loss for words. What was he supposed to say? That Moe fancied Ms. Yates and wished to be close to her?

With Yoel’s answer not forthcoming, Joshua’s eyebrows began to knit together. “Speak up.”

“Besides admiration, what else could it be? Don’t you already know this?” Yoel was heart–throbbing as he spoke.

“That’s not the point,” Joshua declared, void of emotion. If Moe simply admired Cynthia, there were other ways to get close to her. By becoming her assistant, apart from giving out work assignments, he would hardly see Cynthia most of the time.

Yoel was taken aback as he drove steadily. “Then what is it?”

“Could it be that Moe’s boss is Cynthia herself? Joshua ventured his guess.

Yoel appeared slightly surprised. “I thought about that earlier, but it seems unlikely.”

“Why not?”

“Mae mentioned his boss is on vacation again. But Ms. Yates has been working these days.”

“Again?” Joshua caught onto the crucial word.

“His boss took a two–year vacation earlier, during which Moe was also off, with his salary paid as usual. They just resumed work recently,” Yorl explained. Then, with a smirk, he aslord, “Mr. Neal, if you took a two–year vacation, would you also grant me the same, with my salary paid as usual?”

“Dream on,” Joshua responded coldly.

Yoel sighed inwardly. He had expected that. Bosses like Mae’s were indeed one in a million.

“Look into which company Moe worked at previously. Get the details.” Joshua’s suspicions grew stronger with the mention of the two–year vacation.

Although Yoel was reluctant, he complied, “Alright.”

The car continued to roll along as Yoel drove Justua hume. Meanwhile, Cynthia got into Jimmy’s car.

As soon as Jimmy saw Cynthia, he launched Into a string of chatter. “Cynthia, didn’t you divorce Joshua? How come you’re still involved with him?”

Cynthia remained silent.

“By the way, is it true what Mitchell said about that person appearing?”

Cynthia kept her silence.

“Cynthia, why aren’t you saying anything?” After chattering away without a response from Cynthia, Jimmy could not help but ask her.

“How am I supposed to answer when you’re throwing a barrage of questions at me?” Cynthia was relatively relaxed in his

company.

Jimmy, with one hand on the steering wheel, appeared slightly embarrassed. He did not ask any of his previous questions but switched topics. “Oh, by the way, do you know about Captain?”

“What’s the matter?” Cynthia perked up at the mention of Captain as the memory of her previous call with Captain came flooding back.
