Sure enough, his son was the most treasured. After he had skilfully sidestepped the issue at hand, Felix began to worry about how to explain Joshua’s absence during the upcoming New Year’s celebration. Ever since Joshua took over the company management, he had been swamped with various domestic and international collaborations. Regardless of how busy he was, be always made it a point to return home for the annual New Year’s dinner. Given the current situation, it seemed joshua would not make it back this year, and finding an acceptable excuse would be difficult.

Meanwhile, Cynthia had reached the airport. During her wait to board, she received a call from Sean, whom she had given her number to facilitate communication. “Has the consent form been signed by a family member?” he asked.

“It’s been signed. I’m waiting for my flight now,” she replied.

“Alright.”

“Is Joshua awake?” Cynthia asked, her palm slightly tightening.

Sean replied calmly, “He’s awake. However, his condition is not very stable. He lost consciousness again after being awake for

a short while.”

“How is he now?

“We are still unsure about that. We’ll have to wait until his external injuries heal before we can conduct a thorough examination,” Sean stated matter–of–factly.

After assuring Sean that she would return as soon as possible, Cynthia ended the call. By the time she got off the plane, it was already past nine in the evening. She hurried to the hospital where Joshua was being treated, hoping that Sean could take Joshua to his place for further treatment as soon as possible. However, when she reached the room where Joshua was supposed to be, it was empty. She frantically checked all the nearby rooms but found no one.

She promptly dialed Sean’s number. The ringtone echoed from the hallway not far from her. As she walked toward the sound, Sean appeared wearing casual clothes. He greeted her with a smile. “Ms. Yates, over here.”

“Where’s Joshua?” Cynthia asked anxiously.

“He’s been transferred. He should he nearly at my medical base by now,” Sean explained nonchalantly.

Cynthia’s brows furrowed slightly, suspecting the veracity of his words. “Then why are you still here?”

“Isn’t it obvious? I’m waiting to collect the family consent form and.” Sean trailed off, his gaze filled with an unspoken.

implication.

“And what?” Cynthia pressed.

“To pass on a message from Jushua,” Sean drawled.

Cynthia did not respond, waiting for him to continue. Her intuition told her that Joshua’s message would not be pleasant, or rather, it would not be something she wanted to hear.

“He wanted me to tell you that everything between the two of you is settled. All past misunderstandings, mistrust, and debts. he owed you have been repaid when he saved your life,” Sean

said, one hand casually tucked into his pocket.

“That can’t be his words,” Cynthia responded instantly, without even considering i

Despite the fact that Joshua had wronged her, she knew his pride and dignity would not allow him to say such things. If he truly had, he would no longer be the joshua she lanew.

“He said it himself. Why couldn’t it be passible?” Sean’s voice rose questioningly toward the end of his statement.

“I want to see him and hear it from him,” Cynthia stated calmly.

She had reason to suspect that Sean, eager to bruker a deal with joshna, was deliberately trying to sideline her. Given the current circumstances, she could not afford to stand idly by as Joshua recovered, only to fall victim to his schemes again.

Sean continued to act as the messenger. “He doesn’t even want to see you. How can you hear it from him?”

“And how would you prove that?” Cynthia retorted.
