She was uncertain of how to describe her current emotional state. In her heart, Joshua had always been a figure of honesty. Even with his diminished mental capacity and loss of memory, she believed in his sincerity. However, now he was lying This was something she found intolerable.

Besides this incident, was he keeping other things from me as well?” Cynthia probed further.

“Ms. Yates, I can tell you everything. However, could you first assist the boss in choosing a security camera?” Yoel began, realizing that she was bound to discover the truth if they continued down this path

Yoel was in a predicament. He could not betray his boss, but he also did not wish to deceive Ms. Yates. Therefore, a compromise seemed to be the only option.

“A security camera?” Cynthia was somewhat perplexed.

“The security camera at the boss‘ house has malfunctioned. We need to replace it.” Yoel explained, abandoning his previous excuses given that only a day had passed.

“Just buy and install the same one you got before.” Cynthia advised without giving it much thought.

Yorl attempted to nudge her in the right direction without being overly explicit. “It would be pointless if I were to take the purchase. Why don’t you choose one?”

Cynthia paused. Suddenly, she was at a loss for words. After just finding out about Joshua’s lies, Yoel was now asking her to select a security camera.

“So, once I’ve made a selection, you’ll tell me everything about Joshua?

“That’s correct.”

“I’ll have Mor choose one and send it to you shortly. Just pretend you don’t know it was Moe who selected it,” Cynthia sald, considering this a rather ordinary task

Yorl was speechless. In this case, their effort would be meaningless.

“Perhaps it would be better if you picked one personally and brought it over,” he persisted.

“I have other things to attend to,” Cynthia replied, with no intention of making the selection. After a brief exchange, she hung up the phone. Her mind was not on the matter of the security camera but completely filled with the deception of Joshua. This was a matter she needed to discuss thoroughly with joshua.

“Captain, did you know all along that Joshua was lying?” Cynthia asked. Captain was the first one who noted. If he had not been suspicious, he would not have asked,

Matthew nodded. “Yes, I had my suspicions when I saw him eating noodles last night. A person who’s been hungry all day wouldn’t eat so slowly. And his reaction wouldn’t match that of a person with a poor appetite.”

Cynthia let out a heavy sigh. Matthew gave her shoulder a comforting pat, indicating she should not worry too much.

“I’ll go and talk to him. I apologize for what happened last night,” Cynthia said, watching the doctor walk out of the room.

The fact that Joshua had lied like this was… The more she thought about it, the more Cynthia’s emotions fluctuate. She walked straight into the roum, her gaze complex as she looked at the person lying on the bed.

“Cynthia. Can I not have this? It’s uncomfortabile,” Joshua called her, then painted at the IV tube, asking in a somewhat pitiful tone.

“If you want to get better, you should listen to the doctor.” Cynthia’s tone was noticeably colder.

Joshua noticed this shift in attitude.
