Chapter 415: Fraudulent Donations
It didn’t matter how famous Lu Beixiao’s reputation was as a war God. News about him being punished by his wife spread much faster like a wildfire.
...
The helicopter was in the air for a whole night. Looking down from the sky, the streets and villages were all submerged in the flood.
The disaster was far more serious than what was reported on the news.
“Once we arrive at the base, the nine of you will form teams of three. Split up and start the rescue operation! Your mission is to rescue and evacuate anyone who is in danger! Including our comrades and civilians!” Lao Cai ordered.
“Leng Yao, Lu Beixiao and Chen Erdan! The three of you will form a team! Shi Yu, Yecheng and He Feng! The three of you will form a team! Feng Zheng, Fang Zhuo and Jiang Hai, the three of you will form another team! I will be in charge on this mission,” Lao Cai said again.
Each team was deliberately assigned a female member as they were all doctors. With their experties, they would be able to provide immediate emergency medical treatments if necessary.
“Ah Xiao, you and Leng Yao are really in the same team. She was originally an intern doctor but somehow she participated in a special selection for Blood Wolf. She really does have many capabilities,” Ye Cheng nudged Lu Beixiao with his elbow and said in a low voice.
“Take it easy, alright. My big sister is a very, very jealous person. If she finds out, you would end up going down on both knees again...” before ye Cheng could finish his sentence, Lu Beixiao’s elbow hit his chest hard.
“Stop bullshitting!” Lu Beixiao said as he just thought that Leng Yao was more than what meets the eye but Ye Cheng was thinking wildly about something else.
After arriving at the base, they boarded three separate helicopters and went to their designated areas.
...
The flood was like a ferocious beast constantly rushing downstream. There was a little girl who escaped to higher ground but she wasn’t able to get high enough and the flood was dangerously closing in. She held on to a tree but the tree began to break from the gush of the flood.
People on other parts of the high grounds shouted anxiously. They wanted to help the girl but they couldn’t as they did not have proper equipment.
They could only watch helplessly as the tree stump gradually start to crack.
“Someone save my daughter! I beg you!” the little girl’s mother begged and knelt on the ground. The mother tried to rush towards the daughter but she was stopped by other villagers. Everyone knew if she went down, it was equivalent to a suicide.
The soldiers who were there tried to devise a plan to get to the little girl but their plans all failed.
Suddenly, the sound of a helicopter hovered in the sky above the little girl. The people saw someone jumped down from the helicopter to rescure the girl.
“The child is saved! She’s saved!” they cried out.
Geared with a helmet on his head, Da Sha descended from the helicopter to save the girl.
As soon as he managed to get his arms around the little girl, the tree gave way and was washed away in the flood currents. It was such a close call!
The other victims on the other side of the high grounds applauded and cheered. When the little girl’s mother saw that her child had been saved, she began to cry uncontrollably in relief.
Da Sha used to be afraid of heights. Back when he was in tryouts to join the group, he almost got rejected as he failed the rope descent multiple times due to his fear. He couldn’t bring himself to get on the rope. However, he eventually managed to pass the course when Lu Beixiao got tired of waiting on him and pushed him down. Since then, Da Sha had overcome his fear of heights.
The little girl and Da Sha safely arrived at the cabin. The well-trained Leng Yao immediately examined and gave first aid to the little girl who had fainted from exhaustion.
It was a really tough time on then as well. They frequently had to be on standby to perform high risk rope descents to reach victims that no one else can. They did not even have time to eat or sleep.
...
Ye Qiao hasn’t been idle these days either. She frequently handled and arranged emergency aid materials to be sent to the relief centres.
“President Ye, you’re finally back!” Xiao Mei said.
Ye Qiao was exhausted and was very thirsty as she too was not able to have proper meals due to how busy she worked.
“Even if it’s a big matter, please get me a glass of water first. Thank you,” she said calmly.
Xiao Mei immediately went to get some water and then she showed Ye Qiao the newspaper. “President Ye, your good friend, Su Mu, is deeply involved in fraudulent donations!”
