Chapter 442: Interrogation
Although the lie detector’s accuracy was only 80% , it was very obvious from all parameters that Qin Lan was definitely lying.
However, no matter how much Ye Cheng tried to scare her, she insisted that the Ye family knew about her being in contact with Scorpion long ago.
“The Ye family was afraid of being implicated so they kept it a secret. They knew that Ye Zhenzhen knew who her biological father was but they still let her go abroad to find her father,” Qin Lan continued to lie.
Then, Lu Beixiao picked up the microphone and asked, “Qin Lan, are you sure that Ye Zhenzhen went abroad to find her father?”
“Of course I’m sure!” Qin Lan said resolutely.
No one had ever been able to withstand the tough conditions of interrogations there. Not even Qin Lan could.
The corners of Lu Beixiao’s mouth rose and he ordered the officer in plain clothes to turn on the television in the interrogation room.
“Before I went abroad, I didn’t know who my father was. Qin Lan didn’t tell me. I met my father in the casino. Scorpion. He accidentally found out that my mother’s name was Qin Lan. It was my vanity that first suspected that he was my father. Then, he took me to do a paternity test...”
Ye Zhenzhen’s words really slapped Qin Lan’s face.
“Qin Lan, do you still want to continue lying? Your daughter has explained everything clearly,” Ye Cheng raised his voice.
Qin Lan sat back down, sweating profusely.
“Ye Cheng... Lu... Lu Beixiao! I haven’t had any contact with him in all these years. I’m just a corrupt criminal. I can get out after spending more than ten years in prison but I haven’t been able to dodge the Scorpion all these years,” she paused for a moment before continuing, “Ye Shengxun didn’t know either. How could I dare let him know that I’ve been hiding Ye Zhenzhen’s past for seventeen years? How could I dare to tell him all this?! I was lying before. I want to drag the Ye family down with me. Ye Cheng! We were once aunts and nephew, please help your aunt. As long as I don’t die, I’ll do anything,” Qin Lan begged. Qin Lan didn’t know what else Ye Zhenzhen had said. She only knew that if she continued to lie, the consequences would be even more severe for the both of them.
She was no longer like the stubborn duckling from before. She cried and begged Ye Cheng, even kneeling down before him.
“Qin Lan, if you didn’t think about escaping this time, you might have been able to sit safely until you got out of prison but it’s too late. A person like you can only truly admit your mistakes if you die,” Ye Cheng slammed his fist on the table and shouted at her.
“You are now the mistress of Scorpion and only death awaits you,” Ye Cheng shrugged.
He and Lu Beixiao turned away and Qin Lan’s regretful wail came from the interrogation room.
“I should never have given birth to that bastard Ye Zhenzhen! I should never have let Ye Shengxun take over! I should never have provoked Ye Qiao!” Qin Lan sat on the ground, pounding her head with both hands and shouting loudly.
However, it was all too late.
Lu Beixiao and Ye Cheng had just arrived at the lobby when they saw Lao Cai came out of a SUV.
“According to the testimony of Scorpion’s daughter, Ye Zhenzhen, Scorpion’s current base is in the southern part of Country M. Ye Zhenzhen gave the detailed address and contact information. However, I suspect that Scorpion also has a base in the country. Those two gunmen who were killed were international mercenaries and there has been no record of them entering or leaving the country,” Lu Beixiao reported in a deep voice.
“What about that Ah Wei?” Lao Cai asked coldly.
Ye Cheng shook his head.
“Lu Beixiao, you interrogate him,” Lao Cai ordered him.
“Lao Cai, I’m sorry. I have to go home to take care of my wife,” Lu Beixiao shrugged. After saying this, he left towards his vehicle.
Lao Cai wanted to chase him and beat him up but he knew he was no match for him.
After all, the bastard was going to be an instructor soon as well.
When Lu Beixiao returned home, Ye Qiao was barefooted and eating a cold steamed bun in the kitchen like a refugee.
