Chapter 296: Ch.295 Rampage
Apocalypse leaned back on his stone throne, savoring the feeling he had missed for so long. He couldn't wait to stir things up again.
"Speak, my children, tell me what you seek. I am your god, capable of fulfilling all your desires!"
While Apocalypse's expression remained stoic, there was a hint in his tone that revealed he was in a good mood.
Cable rolled his eyes, keeping his head low, annoyed by how Apocalypse always saw himself as a deity. The X-Men felt a similar disdain toward him.
Su Ming, however, had no such qualms; he was ready to accept whatever benefits were on offer. But he knew that if Apocalypse upgraded the powers of all the mutants who had traveled from the future, it would create too much disruption in the timeline—something he needed to avoid.
He didn't have the X-gene, nor did he want to end up like Mister Sinister with a pale, ghostly complexion, looking like he emerged from a bag of flour. That was definitely not the look he was going for.
So power wasn't what he sought.
What about asking Apocalypse for money? Apocalypse could easily use his powers to extract gold from the ocean floor.
But that seemed too vulgar and out of character for the devout role he was playing. It wouldn't align with his persona as a devoted follower.
Ultimately, it was best to send Apocalypse to deal with Conqueror Kang directly.
A flurry of thoughts passed through Su Ming's mind, and he decided to push Apocalypse toward confronting Kang.
"Yes, our god, your followers are in dire need of your aid. A cruel overlord has risen, and he is persecuting us mutants."
"Oh? How bold." Apocalypse closed his eyes, speaking coldly as he clenched his fists.
The ground began to shake.
Everything around them trembled as if the world was ending.
In the city, Allied soldiers and civilians started fleeing into the streets, hoping to avoid being buried beneath collapsing buildings.
"Please calm your wrath, great god. This enemy of mutants is very powerful. He calls himself the greatest conqueror and once claimed to be Egypt's first pharaoh..." Su Ming quickly offered up his prepared story.
"The first...pharaoh..." A sharp look flashed in Apocalypse's eyes as if he had realized something.
"Yes, the brothers we sent to spy on him were instantly defeated. We barely escaped with our lives," Su Ming lowered his head, covering his face to appear deeply pained. "We lost thousands fighting against him, but still, he was beyond our strength. In the end, we sacrificed even more to break the seal on your tomb and awaken you. We once numbered in the tens of thousands, but now, only a dozen of us remain."
Su Ming gave a signal, and Domino quickly placed the limp Wade at Apocalypse's feet.
The small white eyes on Deadpool's black-and-red mask seemed filled with sorrow as he locked eyes with Apocalypse's murky gaze.
Apocalypse felt slightly moved—such loyalty, sacrificing so many mutants to break the Phoenix Force's bindings.
He looked more kindly at Wade, reaching out to touch his head. As his healing ability activated, Wade swiftly returned to his normal form.
Bones and muscles healed completely, and Wade could once again leap and bound.
"So tragic, that he could do this to a self-healing mutant. This child, with his ruined skin and body riddled with cancer—even I couldn't cure that. Could it really be the one I suspect?"
Apocalypse had known about abnormal cellular growth, like cancer, as early as 3000 BCE. He had even coined the term. He had just used his powers to scan Deadpool's body and realized that this man was practically a conglomerate of cancer cells.
Even for Apocalypse, it was a rare sight. If not for his healing ability, Wade would have died long ago. As it stood, he merely maintained a delicate balance.
Apocalypse grew more serious, gripping the armrests of his throne while pondering the situation. At the same time, he softened his expression and began questioning Wade.
"Speak, my child. Tell me what you have learned."
"Uh, you're not my dad?"
Deadpool scratched his head, testing the waters. Then, he noticed Su Ming glaring at him with a murderous look.
Damn it, is this what I told you to say? Focus on the mission, you idiot!
The atmosphere inside the palace grew awkward, with the only sounds being the breathing of those present and the distant cries from the streets.
"Haha, I may not be your father, but I am the father of all mutants." Apocalypse was not angered; instead, he kindly patted Deadpool's head. But upon realizing how foul Wade smelled, he quickly withdrew his hand. "Now, tell me, what has this person done? What did he say?"
"Uh, he said... Oh, woe is me!"
Under Su Ming's intense glare, Wade finally remembered his tactics. He threw himself at the throne's foot, letting out a piercing wail that sounded like the death throes of a crow.
The sudden, agonized screech even startled Apocalypse.
Had he not been mindful of his dignity, he might have kicked this strange red-and-black figure away.
"Speak slowly, don't be so agitated."
He assumed that the follower was overwhelmed by the joy of seeing a true god. It wasn't the first time something like this had happened. Back in ancient Egypt, when he rode his chariot through the streets, some citizens had fainted from excitement.
In reality, this was just Wade's overly dramatic acting.
Wade then followed Su Ming's earlier instructions, pinning all of the atrocities committed against mutants on "the little mustache."
The Weapon X program's experiments on mutants? That was now "Little Mustache's" doing. Sentinel robots hunting mutants? That was the German military. Public discrimination against mutants? Blame it on the little mustache.
In Deadpool's ramblings, this self-proclaimed former Rama-Tut, the little mustache, became the ultimate supervillain responsible for the attempted genocide of mutants.
"He even said he'd capture you and... um... defile your flower, and then your whole family's flowers. A flower is the part of your body between your legs that you use for... you know. If you don't understand what 'defile' means, I can explain—"
Ten minutes later, Deadpool was still ranting with gusto. Apocalypse had finally had enough. He was now certain that this little mustache was indeed the former Rama-Tut, the true Conqueror Kang.
That wretched scoundrel dared to return. Did he think Apocalypse was gone?
Today is your last day. I'll not only avenge my foster parents but also... yes, just like this child said—I'll defile your flower!
Apocalypse's power flared, and in a flash, he rocketed out of the palace. He used telekinesis to carry everyone with him, flying directly toward the Mediterranean Sea, leaving only his voice echoing in the palace.
"Follow me and see how your true god disciplines this blasphemer."
Desert, sea, mountains, forests, cities.
All these scenes flashed beneath them as Apocalypse flew at incredible speeds, bringing the group to hover above Berlin in no time.
Looking down, they saw red-and-black banners waving everywhere. Strange, new mechanical soldiers patrolled the city, factory chimneys billowed black smoke, and the air was thick with soot—a picture of industry and war.
"A filthy city. I will destroy it."
Apocalypse raised his hands in front of him, rolling his eyes back as he began to gather his power.
