Chapter 324: Ch.323 Gigantified Croc
Su Ming pushed his abilities to the limit, using immense power and sharp weapons to move quickly through the barrier. Behind him, Killer Croc had gained tremendous size, and with it, an increase in strength. He was also continuing to grow stronger, keeping close behind.
He had to lead Croc out of the barrier to isolate him from those mutagenic factors inside before figuring out how to deal with him.
The mutation process was reversible—Su Ming had already tested it on himself.
As long as the mutated cells inside Croc were eliminated, he could return to his original state. Thanks to his healing factor, even losing half of his cells wouldn't be an issue—it would just mean he'd need some recovery time.
That was Su Ming's plan now. Judging by the way Killer Croc was acting, reasoning wasn't going to work.
While considering his options, Su Ming broke out of the barrier first.
The desert at night looked the same as before—apart from the wind lifting some sand off the dunes, causing visibility in the distance to blur, everything was clear.
Katana was talking to Deadshot, Captain Boomerang had pulled out some hidden beer from somewhere, and Harley was building a castle in the sand—not far from where she'd convinced Killer Frost to create some ice for her.
"Suicide Squad! Prepare for battle!" Su Ming shouted as he rolled across the sand, quickly turning to face the barrier, grains of sand falling off his armor.
Deadshot reacted immediately, raising his automatic rifle. Before he could ask where the enemy was, a massive black shadow burst out of the barrier.
A crocodile, towering roughly 30 meters high.
It had four arms and walked on two legs, its massive jaws looking like they could snap a ship in half. And among the crocodiles Deadshot knew, only Killer Croc stood upright.
"What the hell?!"
Realizing it was his teammate, Deadshot found himself unable to attack. He turned immediately to Su Ming for an explanation.
Su Ming knew that if they didn't want to end up as Croc's chew toys, now wasn't the time for explanations.
"Follow orders! Aim for his legs!"
Deadshot looked at the gigantified Killer Croc but still opened fire. He doubted his ability to hurt Croc.
Croc's leg scales were now larger than a riot shield. Since Deadshot had started working for A.R.G.U.S., he hadn't had access to special ammo for quite some time.
If it were before, he could have used Nth metal or promethium bullets to pierce such thick defenses. But now, with standard military firearms...
"Rat-a-tat-tat!"
He pulled the trigger, emptying the magazine in full-auto mode. With his precision, all 31 rounds landed on the same spot, directly hitting Croc's raised knee.
But besides creating sparks, the attack was useless, and Croc's massive foot was about to stomp them into the ground.
"Scatter!"
Everyone dove in different directions. As the massive foot came down, the desert seemed to erupt in a storm, yellow sand swirling everywhere, obscuring their vision.
The last time Su Ming saw a creature grow to this size was Dark Hawkman. Could there be some connection between the two? Dark energy, maybe?
But there was no time to think. Once he confirmed Deadshot's attacks were ineffective, Su Ming decided to go with his more "brutal" plan.
"Ah! My castle, you green-skinned freak!"
As Su Ming charged Croc, he noticed Harley and Katana rushing at him from another direction, one wielding a katana and the other holding a giant hammer. Both were surprisingly fast.
Harley was avenging her sandcastle, while Katana's motives were harder to gauge.
Since Killer Croc also had a healing factor, the nanobomb at the back of his neck wasn't much of a deterrent. Bringing in a Japanese warrior to "finish the job" was Amanda Waller's backup plan.
Not that Su Ming doubted Katana's skills, but the harsh reality was that she was no match for Killer Croc. If Croc got serious, he was one of the few who could face off against Batman and leave relatively unscathed.
Even if the bomb seriously injured him, an injured Croc would only be more dangerous. With his strength, one hit from Croc could leave Katana struggling to get back up.
Katana was also part of the Birds of Prey, and apart from Black Canary, the others were mostly just regular people, at most skilled martial artists.
As for Harley, she was even less equipped to fight. Her combat skills were almost non-existent, relying instead on her body's flexibility and mad, unpredictable tactics.
Given her behavior, Su Ming suspected she might have some residual Dionysian factor in her. It would explain her manic tendencies.
Su Ming didn't have time for arguments—he only needed a few steps to deal with Killer Croc.
"Cape, take me up."
The Cloak of Levitation instantly lifted him into the air, shooting him out of the sandstorm.
Killer Croc was still hunched over, searching for them, drooling profusely like a waterfall. His tongue, for some reason, had turned snake-like, constantly flickering.
With the Godkiller and Midnight Blades in each hand, Su Ming broke through the scales on Croc's leg like a bullet piercing his knee.
As Croc toppled, everyone had to dodge again. With his enormous size, his fall was like the collapse of a building.
"Cough, cough..."
Harley coughed repeatedly, her pale face now yellowed with sand.
Then she saw Su Ming soaring above Croc, the massive black sword in his hands coming down in one swift strike.
He opened a large wound on Croc's head.
Well, large for a normal person, but on Croc's gigantic frame, it was a relatively small injury.
Su Ming continued to swing his sword to maintain the opening's size, while the cloak swooped to pick up Killer Frost.
Harley watched as the cloak carried Killer Frost into the wound.
"Gross."
Harley grimaced, knowing Croc's brain probably didn't smell great.
Su Ming held onto the edges of Croc's wound to avoid being thrown off, yelling down as if he were shouting into a sewer opening.
"Caitlin, use your power!"
As a former scientist from S.T.A.R. Labs, Killer Frost was an exceptionally intelligent woman, instantly grasping Su Ming's plan.
Crocodiles are reptiles—cold-blooded animals that go into hibernation when temperatures drop too low. This trait is particularly evident in alligators from temperate regions.
If Caitlin could use her freezing power inside Croc's skull, his instincts would kick in, putting him into a hibernative, catatonic state.
Though Waylon was a crocodile man, too much of his genetic makeup was crocodilian, making this tactic highly effective against him.
Su Ming was indeed a tactical genius and had the skills to execute his strategies flawlessly. Killer Frost couldn't help but admire him.
