Chapter 402: Ch.401 Blackstone Castle
Arabella looked to the left, then to the right, at the angel that had been evenly split into two halves before her.
She believed that if she got a scale and weighed them, the two halves would be almost identical in weight.
"Alright, after that sword strike, I just thought of a new joke about angels." She lit a cigarette, looking proud as if confident that her joke was good.
Bobo rolled his eyes in annoyance. "You should look up, though. Now that you've killed one angel, we've got this swarm of bees all over us."
"Ugh, how did you know my joke was related to the word 'swarm'?" Arabella dramatically gasped, picking up the gorilla and hugging him tightly. "Could it be that great minds think alike?"
Bobo sighed. "Have you been studying Chinese lately? And I shouldn't need to remind you—we are not heroes."
"True enough. Su Ming, what's the plan now? If you and the supermodel can buy me a few minutes, I can blow these angels—and Hell's main street—sky high."
Arabella took a drag of her cigarette, looking at Su Ming with an amused expression.
"When we were in the Amazon Rainforest, Batman knew Diana had escaped, but clearly he couldn't find her. So we're here to look for any trace of Diana." Su Ming watched as more angels gathered around, their voices buzzing incessantly like flies. "I don't think blowing up Hell's main street is going to help us communicate with Mazikeen."
"Heh, trust me—Mazikeen couldn't care less about whether these guys live or die. In fact, if you tell her how much pain they were in before they died, she'd probably be even happier."
Arabella raised a finger and waggled it, knowing what kind of people Lucifer and Maze were.
The demons in Hell weren't the undead; they were more like creations made of chaos and human souls. Even if a bunch of them died today, as long as there were souls, new ones would pop up tomorrow like mushrooms.
"She's probably having her own troubles now." Su Ming pointed to the distant castle, where some angels with golden wings and flaming weapons were flying towards.
And those angels were clothed—sure, they were just wearing sheets, but it was still clothing.
Su Ming noticed that the hierarchy of angels could not only be determined by their number of wings or weapon enchantments; you could also tell by their attire.
Well-known archangels like Raphael were always well-dressed, almost immaculate—not only was their hair perfectly styled, but they even wore cologne.
In contrast, lower-ranking angels had no interest in such things. They were simply tools of Heaven, the shepherd's staff and the clay.
The sorceress squinted and spat on the black and red ground beside her. "This won't do—we have to save her."
"She's our only lead, so let's go."
Su Ming took Bobo from Arabella, letting the gorilla hold onto him, while also drawing Stranglehold, turning it into a large sword.
Donna wrapped her arms around the sorceress from behind, but she quickly realized the sorceress was being less than decent.
While maintaining the protection spell, Arabella kept trying to turn her head, attempting to kiss Donna's neck or ear.
Donna elbowed the sorceress in the head. "Stop it. I don't like women."
The sorceress, thick-skinned as a castle wall, still tried to smell Donna's scent even with her head being held in place. "Doesn't matter. Most people think they're straight until they've tried something else."
"I'm not as tolerant as Diana. One more word, and I'll throw you to the angels."
"Okay, okay. I thought you Amazons had activities to pass the time, living on that island for thousands of years."
"Some people do fall in love with their sisters, even forming families, but not me. And certainly not Diana." Donna tightened her hold around the sorceress, making her stick out her tongue. The cigarette fell from her mouth. "I used to spend my time hunting monsters or training in strength and skills, but nowadays I just use the internet."
"Can you introduce me to an Amazon then? I want a sincere relationship." Arabella patted her chest, feeling like her ribs were about to break.
"Depends on your performance. By the way, are you T or P?" Donna found the sorceress's honesty refreshing. "Wow, what kind of stuff are you learning online?"
Arabella took the opportunity to tease her. She was just talking; in truth, she liked men, but since there weren't any, having some fun with women was okay too.
Hell's chaotic nature manifested perfectly in her—craving sincere love but unable to resist carnal desire. That was part of her price to pay.
Signing a contract with demons meant being followed by corruption.
"That's enough of your girl talk." Su Ming said as they neared the castle. He then noticed that the castle didn't even have windows, almost as if it had been carved out of a giant black stone mountain.
There was a gate and drawbridge below, with boiling magma flowing beneath it.
But that area was a battlefield now. Demons and angels clashed there, locked in close combat, blocking the gate so thoroughly that even a fly couldn't get in.
Su Ming decided he would just make a window for himself.
"Stay close to me. Once we're inside, Wonder Woman and Bobo cover the rear while the sorceress and I go see Mazikeen."
Donna immediately obeyed, worried she'd be replaced if she didn't follow orders—if they replaced her with Cassie, that would be terrible. So she had been on her best behavior lately.
They swapped passengers mid-air, with Su Ming taking the sorceress and Donna carrying Bobo.
"Stranglehold, drill form."
He drilled into the black stone wall, making a downward-sloping tunnel that was just wide enough for one person, which would make Donna's defense easier later.
All she had to do was turn around and face outward, holding her shield at the entrance, and these ordinary angels wouldn't be able to break through her line.
The key was those glowing-winged, clothed guys—by now, they should've already entered the castle through the main gate, so Su Ming had to move quickly.
If they could help the queen of Hell defeat the angels, they could forge a better relationship with Hell.
With Mazikeen's support, perhaps he could ease some of the tension with Satan.
The mountain was thick, and the rock was exceptionally sturdy. Even with Stranglehold's sharpness, digging this "thief's tunnel" was not easy.
Everything was pitch black, with only Stranglehold's glow faintly illuminating the area, dimmed by all the rubble and dust, making it flicker on and off.
The sorceress, surprisingly, was behaving for once. She hung onto his neck, lying quietly against his chest, though she would cough now and then because of the dust.
"You really should smoke less." Su Ming said, half-joking as he continued drilling.
"I know what you men think—you act like you care about my health, then slowly try to control my life, and eventually, you want me to suck on your 'big cigar,' right?"
Arabella might as well not have spoken at all—when she did, all semblance of femininity disappeared, replaced by the attitude of a madam from a Gotham brothel.
The things coming out of her mouth sounded no different from those of a demon, which is why Bobo always called her a succubus.
"I was asking for trouble, wasn't I? Hold on tight—we're going in."
Su Ming felt Stranglehold's vibrations—the rock was getting thin, and they were almost through the mountain. He reminded the sorceress to be ready for battle.
But Arabella's eyes widened—what did he mean by "hold on tight" and "going in"?
Given the time and place, it was quite the thrill—Deathstroke knew how to have fun.
