Chapter 254: Begging For Forgiveness

Everyone else behaved in the same way as White Ape.

Inside the Nebula Barrier, it was possible to borrow the curator’s aura from the museum’s Visitation Hall. Though the amount wasn’t much, it was enough to give Lin Jin incredible powers.

And so, with him in a demon mask, everyone ceased their hostile intentions.

“Curator? I’ve heard of this name before.” Python Monk was ghastly pale, not daring to move an inch. Blood Bat was the same.

“I remember seeing this name on the villain’s newspaper a little while back. This person ordered Black Crow and Madam Ghost Child to carry out a mission back then. I’d thought it was a hoax but it seems like such an expert does exist after all,” Python Monk’s voice was shivering as he spoke.

As villainous experts who managed to survive this long, they were quite an intelligent bunch.

Who was Black Crow?

And who was Madam Ghost Child?

Both of them were notorious in the villainous community. No one had ever heard of them bowing or surrendering to anyone.

Yet, these individuals were unusually respectful to that man in the demon mask. And if that wasn’t enough, a character as formidable as Coffin Man even knelt in greeting.

This dealt them a huge blow. In addition to his harrowing aura, this barrier locking them in immediately frightened Python Monk and Blood Bat. Not only them, but their pet beasts also felt the same. A natural deterrence ability was built into the curator’s identity so any pet beasts Rank 4 and below had to submit to him.

At that moment, both the piebald python and blood bat were quivering behind their owners. These were ferocious Rank 4 beasts and yet, being able to intimidate them so proved how terrifying this curator was.

They obviously couldn’t fight him. Anyone with any intelligence intact would know that attacking the man equaled to asking for death.

Both of them felt so much regret. No matter how good the pay was, they would never accept this mission had they known earlier.

Now, even their client wanted to escape.

His Rank 4 jade dragon had been beheaded by the fire wolf. Although he made a vicious declaration earlier, he had calmed down by now.

They were in a terrible position right now. Without his Rank 4 jade dragon, he couldn’t control the other Rank 3 jade dragons. Python Monk and Blood Bat had exhausted all their strength so they weren’t reliable either. If he stayed, doom would surely befall him.

And so, this man simply turned to flee.

He had only run a short distance only to be stopped by Evil Scholar.

Evil Scholar had been badly injured from the battle earlier, making him look like a tragic mess with his body covered in wounds and his robes ruined.

Evil Scholar cared about personal appearances the most so one could imagine how furious he was.

Seeing the culprit escape made his eyes bloodshot and his expression twist into a savage look. He quickly commanded his white cat to pounce at the man.

“You b*stard! Don’t even think about running away. I’ll kill you!” Evil Scholar launched into an attack with his hook while his white cat pounced forward with sharp claws and teeth.

No matter how skilled that person was, he lost all ability to fight back with his pet beast dead. It only took a brief moment for Evil Scholar to kill him.

Seeing this, Black Crow said, “Scholar, we mustn’t kill in front of Curator.”

This was a warning.

Evil Scholar was shocked, but the man had already died. He quickly hurried over to bow at Lin Jin.

“Curator, I’ve long heard of your good name. I was too rash earlier and I hope you will forgive my actions,” Evil Scholar said politely.

Lin Jin naturally wouldn’t blame him.

Lin Jin already knew about Evil Scholar from Black Crow. This man had helped out in his last request. Although Lin Jin wrote an evaluation report for his white cat after that, nullifying the favor, this man had come all this way to help out still. Moreover, Lin Jin knew this man must be an enemy and one of the old dragon’s people.

So, let it be.

“It’s alright. Take a look at who he is,” Lin Jin said. Evil Scholar immediately went over to the corpse and pull his mask and hat away.

Lin Jin’s heart jolted at the revelation.

‘It’s him?’

Jade Dragon Kingdom’s Minister Yu.

On second thought, this should be normal. After all, probably only two or three people were worthy of owning a Rank 4 jade dragon in this Jade Dragon Kingdom.

Minister Yu was a man of notable status, someone who held a respectable post in Jade Dragon Kingdom so it wasn’t weird for him to own a jade dragon pet beast.

Moreover, his surname was Yu, the same as that old dragon. Both of them might even be related somehow.

Still, the fact didn’t change that Minister Yu had died. Lin Jin knew that things would be harder to take care of now. Minister Yu definitely didn’t hold enough authority to seal off the palace so the emperor of Jade Dragon Kingdom might be involved. Lin Jin hadn’t expected things to become so serious, but no matter what, he still had to kill the old dragon. For himself, and for rescuing He Yu.

Only with the old dragon dead could He Yu’s curse be broken.

Lin Jin was currently deep in thought. However, due to his mask, no one knew what he was doing so they waited quietly.

Meanwhile, at the sight of their client getting killed, both Python Monk and Blood Bat were on edge.

“Python Monk, what do we do?” Blood Bat was panicking. About one hundred feet away, the three jade dragons were still trying to escape. Yet, as if they were being blocked, they couldn’t leave.

“Don’t panic. Don’t panic. Stay calm!” Python Monk’s forehead was covered in sweat. He stole a glance at the curator only to see the man look back at him out of pure coincidence.

Lin Jin wondered, ‘Who are these guys?’

They must be Minister Yu’s hired help.

If they were hired guns, why hadn’t they made a move ever since Lin Jin got here? They didn’t run, nor attack. Also, when Evil Scholar killed Minister Yu earlier, these two seemed to show no signs of caring.

This was truly odd.

Hence, Lin Jin looked at them. But as he did it through the mask, Python Monk immediately misunderstood.

It was true that Python Monk was a villainous expert who killed and did every evil deed imaginable. Someone like him should be a bold outlaw but the man was shockingly afraid of death.

At first, he genuinely was a desperate criminal. But as age caught on, his mentality changed.

Now, he valued life more than anything.

This here was a life and death moment. This curator was probably thinking about how he should kill them off.

And so, Python Monk made a swift decision to kneel and prostrate, begging for mercy.

Blood Bat gritted her teeth at the sight of this. She still had dignity. Thinking if she was the curator, she would never forgive the enemy even if they grovel and pleaded.

Since that was the case, why not take a gamble?

Moreover, Blood Bat had confidence in her pet beast’s unique skills. They might just be able to break through and escape this place.

Blood Bat immediately cast a spell and her pet beast grabbed onto her, flying in a certain direction.

As they neared the border, the blood bat sprayed out a jet of inky blood.

As it came in contact with the barrier’s wall, white smoke began to emerge. This blood clearly contained corroding abilities. There was also a sizzling sound as if a piece of meat was being deep-fried.

Crack!

Lin Jin frowned. He could feel the Nebula Barrier giving away. He had to admit, this woman with the blood bat was quite skilled.

But it was a pity that Lin Jin’s Nebula Barrier was a direct skill and it was connected to the Museum of Deadly Beasts. Hence, the corroding blood couldn’t break the barrier. The next instant, Blood Bat could be seen colliding headfirst onto the invisible wall with her pet beast.
