Chapter 260: Clash Of Ice And Fire

Clashing attributes like ice and fire was a dangerous game. No matter the situation, ice and fire could never exist in harmony. Having a little distance in between was still acceptable but to coexist in one host was practically impossible.

Each person present was a villainous expert and quite well-informed. They had never seen someone force two clashing attributes onto the same pet beast.

In fact, beasts of clashing attributes did exist.

However, those were born with it, an innate gift. Hence, the polarity was acceptable. But such pet beasts were usually worthless. No one would form blood pacts with them nor waste effort on trying to nurture them.

Furthermore, no matter human or beast, those with clashing attributes usually attracted disasters and had short life spans.

Prior to this, if someone told them a human could forcibly add a clashing attribute onto a pet beast, all four of them wouldn’t believe it. Even if such rumors existed, they would assume it was a pie in the sky.

But now, they were witnessing it.

“If this process succeeds, wouldn’t that make Curator as capable as nature?” Black Crow suddenly mumbled. While it was an exaggerated assumption, it revealed his thoughts.

Back to Lin Jin. He already knew about the old dragon’s attribute. He had learned this during their last battle as well as every other detail about the creature from the Museum of Deadly Beasts.

Lin Jin obviously knew that the old dragon’s attribute wasn’t compatible with Xiao Huo’s. They were practically polar opposites, so for the blood renewal and bone marrow cleansing procedure, he had to pick one of suitable compatibility, not a clashing one.

Still, Lin Jin chose to do it.

Because the museum had given him a solution to this problem.

In other words, he had an instruction manual. He just had to follow it blindly and refrain from thinking too much because up until now, the museum had never been wrong.

Moreover, Lin Jin’s own capabilities were relevantly high now. Instead of being fully reliant on the museum, he continued to hone his skills and knowledge.

He found the solution to be reasonable and so he didn’t hesitate.

On the specifics of how to combine ice with fire, this was impossible in terms of one’s natural constitution. But everything in this world was one half of a whole, where yin and yang combined.

The museum’s instruction was to use the coiled wire needle to cultivate Xiao Huo’s internal organs with the dragon blood. By dividing the yin from yang and then blending them based on the Yin Yang Taichi image, the combination would succeed.

While this sounded simple, those who didn’t understand or knew how to do it would assume it was a farfetched dream.

To achieve this, the pulse-seeking technique was compulsory as well as a fire dragon blood pill.

And coincidentally, Lin Jin possessed both. That lesser dragon blood pill he won from the disciple tournament just happened to be a fire attribute. With this, helping Xiao Huo combine yin and yang would be possible.

“Xiao Huo, this will be a great transformation for you. When the ice and fire blends in the form of the Yin Yang Taichi image, it’ll be painful so endure it for a bit,” Lin Jin said as he went over and caressed Xiao Huo’s head.

Xiao Huo let out a tiny howl.

“Alright!” Readying his needles, Lin Jin pierce all hundred of them simultaneously into Xiao Huo’s body. Through the acupoints and into his spirit stream, Lin Jin began separating yin from yang. This process took less than thirty minutes but Xiao Huo suffered excruciating pains.

Yet, he gritted his teeth and made no sound, forcible overcoming it.

“Yin and yang combine!” Lin Jin uttered and he lifted a finger to point ahead. The next instant, Xiao Huo’s body exploded into bits. Startled, Black Crow and the others instinctively took a step back, visibly shocked.

‘It failed?’

‘Oh no, it’s over. It’s hard to combine clashing attributes after all.’

‘To think even Curator would fail at times.’

Each of them harbored different thoughts and looked worried. But soon, they were alarmed to see how the exploded bits of the fire wolf was divided into two piles. One was burning with bright flames while the other was emitting frosty chills.

Then, as if recalling something, Coffin Man began shivering.

“Ghost Child, this is Dharma body!”

Coffin Man’s voice was trembling, evidently excited. It was difficult to imagine how a person like Coffin Man with his personality could speak this way. This was obviously a shocking revelation.

When Ghost Child heard the words ‘Dharma body’, she shuddered as well. Steadying herself to take a better look, she nodded. “Spirit into the flesh, mana into the blood, and soul into the unmanifested. This is the Dharma body. Who knew that we’d be able to witness the great Dharma body we Lingnan Deities have been searching tirelessly for back in the day?”

Now, besides Ghost Child and Coffin Man, both their pet beasts got excited as well.

Madam Ghost Child’s swaddle immediately let out a strange but excited cry. The zombie cthulhu in Coffin Man’s coffin was also thrashing about, knocking on the coffin walls.

Black Crow and Evil Scholar on the other hand didn’t know about the wonders of this Dharma body so they were confused. However, they were standing close enough to Ghost Child and Coffin Man to hear their conversation so they knew it must be something incredible.

Curious, the duo asked quietly. And so, Ghost Child and Coffin Man explained it to them.

After learning the wonders of the Dharma body, both Black Crow and Evil Scholar bore yearning gazes.

“In ancient times, Dharma body was a compulsory stage on the path to immortality. Spells could be commanded by speech and one could manipulate the five elements at will. Wouldn’t that make them an immortal already?” Evil Scholar mumbled.

Coffin Man rarely spoke, but when it came to topics of his interest, he could ramble on and one. Without waiting for Ghost Child to speak, he elaborated, “First, the Dharma body isn’t immortality, but all immortals have Dharma bodies. Also, now that the path to immortality is destroyed, there are probably no immortals left in this world. The path of cultivating pet beasts blossomed in its place. According to ancient records, cultivating pet beasts were insignificant back in the day but it has now become mainstream. Beasts can cultivate Dharma bodies too but the difficulty level is obviously much higher. Us Lingnan Deities have been searching everywhere back in the day for an opportunity to obtain Dharma bodies for our pet beasts. Yet, our search has been futile. This is why we got excited now that we’re witnessing Curator cultivate Dharma body for that fire wolf. Curator might actually be a genuine immortal.”

Coffin Man’s admiration for Curator couldn’t be any more obvious.

Besides him, everyone else here felt the same. Even their pet beasts were staring enviously at the fire wolf.

How wondrous and lucky was he to have a genuine immortal cultivate Dharma body for him? Why didn’t this great opportunity happen to them instead?

However, while it wasn’t happening to them now, that didn’t mean it wouldn’t happen in the future. If they were lucky enough, perhaps Curator would someday cultivate Dharma bodies for them too. Just the thought of this possibility thrilled them all.

At that instant, Lin Jin retracted all his needles and put them away in his sleeve. This current situation no longer required the pulse-seeking technique.
