Chapter 534 - Really Hid Nothing

Chapter 534: Really Hid Nothing

The calmest person present was Shu Xiaolou. She already knew the information Lin Jin was sharing and she had her perspective on the topic. Thus, the lecture bored her.

Shu Xiaolou even tried practicing the pulse-seeking technique before, so other than a few parts that required more practice, she more or less understood the entire technique. What she wanted was to hear what Lin Jin had pondered about yesterday. Her instincts told her that Lin Jin’s sudden enlightenment must have been something huge.

Among the audience, there were two more people hidden in the corner.

Both of them wore hats that hid their faces. However, upon closer observation, one would realize that these two were old men.

They were none other than the Emperor of Heavenly Spiral Kingdom, Feng Junwu, and his trusted confidante, the old officer.

“This is Lin Jin? He’s quite a fine-looking young man with an outstanding air to him. Though, isn’t he a little too young?” Feng Junwu whispered so softly that only his companion, the old officer, could hear his voice.

The latter responded just as quietly, “He may be young, but look at the crowd, Your Majesty. These are all elites of the academy. Him being able to draw this much attention makes him extraordinary.”

And that was a fact.

Feng Junwu nodded. He had been curious so he decided to come and have a look. Truth be told, after learning that his invitation had been shot down twice by Lin Jin, Feng Junwu felt displeased, even if Lin Jin had valid reasons for doing so. His visit today was to see how special Lin Jin was.

Suddenly, Feng Junwu stood up and left. The old officer quickly followed after him.

Both of them leaving so abruptly naturally caught the attention of others, especially Lin Jin. Since he stood at the podium, he had the best view of the attendees.

But Lin Jin only swept them a glance without minding it.

Once outside, Feng Junwu instructed the old officer, “Find Ziqian and have him invite Lin Jin over again today. If he still can’t come, we’ll forget about this in the future.”

Having said that, he left.

Immense pressure fell onto the officer’s shoulders.

His Majesty was irked but had no outlet to vent his frustrations. Even if Appraiser Lin had valid reasons to be away, he had rejected the emperor’s invitation two times now. Other people may be able to laugh it off, but this was the emperor they were talking about. Such humiliation must never be tolerated.

Hence, no matter what, he had to complete the mission this time.

The old officer figured he shouldn’t place all hopes onto the third prince. Instead, he would handle it personally. He had to send Lin Jin to the palace, even if it involves kidnapping the man.

Inside the lecture hall, Lin Jin continued his talk.

After finishing the internal needle chapter, he started on one part of the pulse-seeking technique. By now, most of the students felt light-headed, unable to understand anything. They couldn’t even transcribe his words.

Not many could continue taking notes and among the students, only a handful of them managed to understand parts of his lesson.

Speaking of which, wanting to achieve comprehension at the first exposure to the pulse-seeking technique was a challenging feat. Moreover, Lin Jin’s sharing of this information was meant for the assistant lecturers and people above that level.

Only Rank 3 beast appraisers and above had the relevant knowledge and experience to comprehend what he was saying.

Rank 4 beast appraisers were the only ones who could truly assimilate the knowledge immediately. The pulse-seeking technique originated from the Museum of Deadly Beasts. While this world may have tons of acupuncture techniques, the pulse-seeking technique was undoubtedly one of the best.

Even Zhong Zifeng was listening intently, nodding his head from time to time.

“Wonderful. How amazing. That internal needle chapter earlier must have been only a part of this acupuncture technique. ‘Tis indeed a fascinating technique and the needle manipulation is just as unique. The way I see it, this technique probably isn’t for treatment only but can also be used as a discreet and lethal weapon.” As expected of Zhong Zifeng who possessed the capabilities of a Rank 5 appraiser. After just hearing one part of the pulse-seeking technique, he could already grasp its essence and deduce the existence of the ‘coiled-wire needle’.

Out of all the people present, only Zhong Zifeng and Shu Xiaolou were capable of doing that.

Time gradually trickled away.

Lin Jin finished elaborating one part of the pulse-seeking technique and that should be enough for today. What he managed to share in this session was a third of the pulse-seeking technique that could be practiced as is. Even if the students could only comprehend a little, it should be enough to help them improve greatly.

As for the lecturers, although it wasn’t enough for them to achieve the level of metamorphosis, the merits were still significant enough.

Once Lin Jin was done, everyone, including Zhong Zifeng, stood up to salute him.

This was respect presented to teachers.

To teach by words and example, educating others based on one’s own experiences made one an educator. Regardless of age and background, so long as the educator was accomplished and well-informed, he deserved the respect.

Lin Jin returned the salute before he hurried away without another word.

He shouldn’t stay any longer. Lin Jin’s decision was smart because aside from the students, many lecturers had planned to speak to him about the lesson. He could handle one or two questions, but any more than that would wear him out. Hence, Lin Jin left without even looking back.

Upon returning to Peach Blossom House, he found that Shu Xiaolou was already inside, drinking tea peacefully. As a painting spirit who created the Cosmic Ink, no one could compare to her in terms of speed.

“That was a boring lecture!” complained Shu Xiaolou before Lin Jin could even speak.

“Your understanding of the pulse-seeking technique is already flawless and your mastery of it is complete. I can even say that you’ve reached the pinnacle of what it can offer. Since you were contemplating without sleep for an entire night, you must have gained insights on something else instead. Come, tell me about it. Don’t hide anything!”

Lin Jin flashed a bitter smile.

Shu Xiaolou was a bundle of curiosity. Whatever she didn’t know, she would try to learn and her intuition would always be deadly accurate. Lin Jin had indeed gained much from the museum last night.

However, Lin Jin felt he had to conceal the Body Recast, Psyche Refining Technique for a little longer. If he couldn’t even withstand this tiny hurdle, Shu Xiaolou might eventually squeeze him dry.

Lin Jin waved his hand at once.

“I’m really not hiding anything.”

Just then, someone knocked on the door. Lin Jin hurried to answer it only to see an old man dressed in normal clothing standing at the gates. Despite this, he carried a somewhat unusual aura.

Accompanying him was Appraiser Ouyang.

“Appraiser Lin, this is Officer Yan, internal high steward of the palace.” This simple introduction clarified the man’s identity. Lin Jin knew he must be the emperor’s direct subordinate.

No wonder he had such an unusual air to him.

“Greetings, Officer Yan!” Lin Jin saluted.

He wondered why Heavenly Spiral Kingdom’s closest confidant was here at his quarters.

Lin Jin had no idea that His Majesty had tried to summon him twice now, only to be rejected because he was engaged in something else. Both Shang’er and Shu Xiaolou couldn’t care enough to remember it, so Lin Jin was kept in the dark about this matter.
