Museum of Deadly Beasts

Chapter 99: Overpower

Chapter 99: Overpower

Chapter 99: Overpower

With three against one, anyone with eyes could tell the former had the upper hand.

But of course, the outcome wasn’t determined by quantity but by the quality of the beasts.

After the third round ended, Zu Tianli hurried over impatiently with his three pet beasts to compete with Lin Jin’s team.

“Brother, I don’t think there’s any need for idle chatter. Master Liao has evaluated these three beasts in detail. Here are the evaluation reports. Take a look at them.”

Zu Tianli was pleased with himself, thinking that victory was surely within his grasp.

Suddenly, Lin Jin stepped forward and said, “Lord Zu, there’s no need to read them.”

Zu Tianhong was stunned, rather confused.

Master Liao scoffed and said, “If you don’t read the evaluation report, how can you tell if the creature is good or bad? Young man, you can’t still be thinking that the pet beast you chose can win now, can you?”

Lin Jin nodded with a smile, admitting to it. “That’s right!”

“What a joke!”

“This is outrageous!”

Master Liao and Zu Tianli exclaimed in unison.

Master Liao in particular was enraged. He lashed out viciously, “You ignorant brat, I’ve tolerated you long enough. You don’t even know what the three pet beasts I’ve chosen are like so how dare you spout nonsense and declare yourself a winner so shamelessly. Do you take everyone here for a fool?”

Right now, even if Zu Tianhong and Zu Can had faith in Lin Jin, if they didn’t have an objective comparison, how should they know which team picked the better pet beast?

Hence, both of them looked at Lin Jin with muddled expressions.

Lin Jin started saying, “Rank 1 horned lion, a rare beast. Fire attribute...”

The crowd was stunned.

What was going on?

After listening carefully, they realized that Lin Jin was talking about the horned lion Zu Tianli and Master Liao purchased earlier with five thousand low-grade spirit stones.

Moreover, Lin Jin elaborated with great detail. The venue had many experts in the field, and upon hearing Lin Jin’s evaluation, they nodded in approval with widened eyes.

Especially Master Liao. At first, he looked contemptuous, but as he listened, his expression gradually stiffened until finally turning a shade of white. His state of mind was now a complete mess.

Because Lin Jin’s elaborated results were far more detailed than his own.

He subconsciously retracted his hands holding the evaluation reports. He knew why Lin Jin stopped Zu Tianhong from reading his results. Truthfully speaking, the young man was saving him from public humiliation. If Zu Tianhong had first read his report then listened to Lin Jin’s evaluation, even an idiot could tell how his results paled in comparison to Lin Jin’s.

Right now, he didn’t even dare to take his report out.

And Lin Jin kept blabbering on.

It was like he had completely dissected the creature, laying out details like its flaws and its merits. The assessment was so fair and objective that even Master Liao couldn’t find any faults in them, as much as he wanted to.

The other man’s level was too high so it was better for him to stay quiet. If he spoke up, before he could even pick out the faults, there was a risk that he might expose himself instead.

Hence, Master Liao could only gape without being able to retort at all.

He didn’t have the courage to.

It was like a student in class trying to find faults in a teacher’s lecture.

After elaborating on the first pet beast, Lin Jin didn’t stop there but continued to shame him by elaborating on the second one.

“The other pet beast, the bloodthirsty wolf, is slightly inferior to the horned lion. Speaking of which, although the lion is rather impressive, five thousand low-grade spirit stones is a little expensive...”

Then, Lin Jin began elaborating the second pet beast’s qualities thoroughly. By now, Master Liao had hidden his evaluation reports behind his back.

Upon closer observation, one could see how much Master Liao’s fingers were trembling.

After wrapping up his explanation of the second pet beast, Lin Jin spoke about the third without taking a breather.

It was Zu Tianli’s turn to sense dread.

Why did it feel like Lin Jin knew all three of his purchased beasts like the back of his hand?

In his flustered state, Zu Tianli interrupted Lin Jin, saying, “Lin brat, what are you saying all these for? We’re here to compete whose purchased beasts are of higher quality, not for you to give mere lip service.”

It was evident how Zu Tianli was an outsider especially when it came to beast appraisals. His ignorance was even somewhat adorable.

Lin Jin stared at him before chuckling. “While my competition with Mr. Liao hinges upon whose pet beast is better, it’s essentially a competition of our insights and beast evaluation skills, is it not?”

Zu Tianli still didn’t understand what Lin Jin meant so he waved impatiently. “I don’t understand all this gibberish you’re talking about. I only know that the snake you chose has a massive tumor so no matter what Master Liao chose, it will never stand up against us.”

Lin Jin shook his head. “Who said it was a tumor?”

Zu Tianli was stunned. “Isn’t it written on the evaluation report provided by the Friar Association?”

Lin Jin didn’t speak this time around. Instead, a buyer who couldn’t bear to watch the scene stepped in and explained, “Mr. Zu, those evaluation reports were only references. The person who evaluated them might not even know how to appraise beasts at all. Otherwise, why would most buyers even bother to bring their own beast appraisers here? If it’s as you said, we just have to base our purchases solely on these reports.”

The crowd burst into laughter.

Zu Tianli was angered. Anyone would be equally irritated from being laughed at in public.

Indeed he had no knowledge of beast appraising and he had acted too rash earlier. After taking a deep breath, Zu Tianli calmed down and focused on the main issue.

“Then pray tell what is it if not a tumor?”

Lin Jin stopped teasing him but went over to the snake’s cage and reached out to open the cage.

“That’s dangerous!”

Upon seeing this, the Friar Association’s members were shocked and hurried forward. But it was obviously too late.

Once the cage was opened, the boa constrictor’s eyes shot open and it began to move.

The Friar Association members looked like they were facing a formidable enemy. Despite having a tumor, the boa was ferocious. It took immense effort for them to capture this creature and they had to rely on traps and drugs to successfully bring it under control.

However, despite capturing it, the constrictor was almost impossible to wrangle. It even managed to take a bite out of someone in the process.

When Lin Jin opened the cage, some people shut their eyes tight, assuming that Lin Jin would be swallowed by this constrictor. After all, considering the creature’s size, it wasn’t hard for it to swallow a human whole.

Yet, this gory scene didn’t play out. Sure enough, the constrictor moved, but it came over and nudged its large snake head against Lin Jin’s palm.

This violent beast was displaying astonishing levels of obedience.

Everyone present was shocked. The Friar Association members were even gaping, obviously at a loss for words.

They must be seeing ghosts.

Lin Jin was staring at the snake with admiration like he was watching an exquisite masterpiece or a priceless treasure.

“It’s a pity that I’m here to choose a pet beast for the Zu family. Otherwise, I’d definitely buy you for myself,” Lin Jin whispered.

However, he immediately realized how much of a joke it was because he couldn’t pay up three thousand low-grade spirit stones right now.

Flicking out the needle in his hand, the coiled wire needle swiftly pierced into several acupoints of the boa. Then, Lin Jin conjured spirit energy in his finger, and with an abrupt slash, he cut open the boa’s tumor.

Foul-smelling liquid oozed out from the wound immediately and then the upcoming scene made everyone gasp in horror.

From the freshly-sliced tumor, another snake head appeared.
