Chapter 118: In the Palace
Mike and Lilian nodded and followed Dali on the road to the main hall of the Palace of Xinluo City.
The three of them left the garden and came to an empty space.
The space here was very large and looked like a future city fortress.
However, it was still smaller than the actual city fortress.
It was then that Mike saw a building with a more exaggerated design.
The appearance of the building was even better than the city fortress that would be in existence 3,000 years later.
That building was the main hall of Xinluo City.
Although the main hall was not really tall or big, and it did not have any unique modern craftsmanship, but from the shape, it looked like an upgraded version of the Heavenly Palace.
The carvings of the flying luan and dragon on the eaves looked very domineering. Pieces of bricks and tiles had been pieced together to form the roof of the building.
It was also very sturdy and looked like it would remain standing even after thousands of years.
Following Dali’s lead, Mike and Lilian arrived outside the main hall’s main entrance.
“Commander.”
The two guards standing at the main hall’s entrance greeted Dali respectfully when they saw him.
“Greetings, Second Regiment Commander!”
Dali waved his hand, gesturing for the two of them to be at ease.
Then, Dali led Mike and Lilian into the hall.
Suddenly, a voice sounded out.
“Dali! Finally, you’re here!”
Mike and Lilian looked in the direction of the voice.
It turned out that the speaker was a leader who looked very much like a teenager.
Beside him stood another teenager who looked very similar to him.
They both appeared to be brothers.
“These two are the leaders of our Lieluo Army, Lord Rowe and Lord Romon!”
Hearing Dali’s introduction, Mike smiled and nodded to the two people in front of him.
“Hello! My name is Mike and this is Lilian!”
Rowe looked at Mike and said, “Hello, I’ve heard about you from Dali! You’ve really helped the Lieluo Army a lot! I don’t even know how to thank you!”
Hearing Rowe’s polite words, Mike smiled confidently.
“There’s no need! It’s nothing!”
Rowe very much admired how modest Mike seemed to be.
After some time, Rowe seemed to remember something and pulled the young boy beside him.
He then said to Mike and Lilian, “Oh right, I forgot to introduce him. This is Master Stark. He helped us rebuild Xinluo City, and he made a series of political plans as well. He’s the core figure of our Lieluo Army!
Mike and Lilian looked at Master Stark.
Then, Mike took the initiative to extend his hand and said, “Hello! I’m Mike and this is Lilian. It’s nice to meet you!”
Stark replied in a serious tone, “Hello, I’m Stark. I’m the Chief Political Commander of the Leno Army!
Then, Stark smiled and said, “Don’t look at me like I’m young. I’m actually 30 years old!”
“30 years old?”
Mike was surprised.
Lillian, who was beside him, looked at Stark in disbelief.
Stark smiled before he spoke.
“I’m originally from the southern part of the Empire. However, the leaders of the southern part of the empire are used to oppressing the people. The people here were not even able to eat, so they all looked like they were stunted. Furthermore, they didn’t care to utilize a short man like me.”
“It wasn’t until after the Lieluo Army captured this place that the two leaders discovered my talent and utilized my talents! It’s only because of them that you can see the city of Xinluo of today!”
After hearing that, Mike said with a smile, “Master Stark, we could see your talent from the first day that we set foot in Xinluo City. The buildings here are all different from the other regions. It’s obvious that it’s the work of a genius!”
After hearing Mike’s compliment, Stark laughed and said, “Hahahaha, I didn’t expect you to understand architecture. It looks like we’ll have a lot to talk about in the future!”
After Mike and Stark had a simple discussion, their conversation finally began to cut to the main topic.
“Rowe, Romon, what’s with the battle line that the Empire’s people are building in the north?”
Lilian asked.
Romon replied after hearing her question.
“In the past few months, we have been stepping up our attacks against the Empire. Everyone in the Lieluo Army hopes to take down this tough bone as soon as possible.”
Romon indicated to Rowe who was beside him. Upon receiving Romon’s order, Rowe spoke.
“When Sano from the Empire saw that our Lieluo Army had taken down the south and west, he sensed the seriousness of the situation. He immediately sent a large number of his men to build the northern battle lines.
“Originally, these people had their own ulterior motives. However, Sano switched their troops, which caused the soldiers under them to not be their own, and they didn’t dare to rebel.”
“Moreover, the families of these people were still at the center of the Empire. If any of them were to make a move, the consequences would be very serious!”
When Mike heard this, he couldn’t help but say, “I didn’t expect Sano to still be so smart!”
After that, Rowe continued.
“Now, the Empire has also sent out a magic army. According to what we know now, the number of this magic army has already reached a terrifying 30,000 people.”
“A magic army?” Lilian said in puzzlement.
“That’s right! I don’t know where Sano found a master who claimed to be able to strengthen the skills of the soldiers. This magic army was formed by the soldiers who were strengthened under the influence of that master.
“The speed and strength of these soldiers are far faster than ordinary people. Our soldiers at the front line were simply unable to resist them.
“Therefore, the current war situation is also in a state of equilibrium. We can only infiltrate our own people into the Empire’s forces to slowly disintegrate a portion of their strength!”
When Mike heard this, he understood the profound meaning behind it.
Ordinary people, even if they had a strong body, would find it difficult to fight against those who had awakened their magic power.
With this magic power in their bodies, they would have a steady flow of speed and strength.
As they consumed it, they also replenished it.
Moreover, after a long period of accumulation, their various indicators would surpass the average of ordinary people by a large margin.
Moreover, if they did not use magic skills, then the magic power in their bodies would not be greatly consumed.
If all they did was move and kill, these people would become the most terrifying monsters on the battlefield.
Just as Mike was still worrying about the dilemma that the Lieluo Army was facing, Romon smiled lightly.
He opened his mouth and said, “However, although the soldiers of these magic troops are powerful, we have already found a way to fight them!”
Looking at the determined eyes of Romon and Rove, the doubt in Mike’s heart grew.
