Chapter 189: Spies?
The youth stood on a massive Chinese serpent dragon descending from the skies, giving him an even more intimidating vibe. His body was filled with various tattoos and even though he didn't wear shiny armor like the others everyone could tell this kid was incredibly strong.
Whoosh!
Lucien jumped of the azure blue dragon and shot towards the white horse left for him. Even though he moved at a terrifying speed, the moment he reached the horse his body stopped abruptly and he began to descend gracefully. His eyes were as bright as two silver stars glowing brightly in the night sky!
"No retreat, no defeat! When we return you will only hear one word from us! Victory!" Lucien roared at the top of his voice before he charged forwards with his horse.
His speech was short but rather effective! The two hundred thousand strong armies roared at the top of their voices and charged forward fearlessly! Even the foot soldiers ran with all their strength as they chased after their imperial knight!
"That kid sure knows how to make an entrance!" Klaus laughed loudly as he chased after Lucien too.
He didn't know why but he could feel his blood boiling and his body itching for battle. He didn't know if Lucien used some sort of skill or mag I since he found it hard to believe that Lucien can bring out so much strength in people with just a short speech. Gazing at Lucien's figure from behind they couldn't help but remember Emperor Fei in his younger days. At this point, even the clan heads who were part of the coup couldn't shake the sense of loss eating them up from within.
As If the mood is contagious the civilians began screaming madly as they watched the army charge forward energetically without stopping! The capital remained noisy and loud until the army left the gates and vanished in the distance! Only then did the chanting stop as well, leaving the capital in total silence as they silently prayed for victory over the enemy forces.

The Libet empire is located just farther north from the Fotia empire, so Lucien led the army north and after marching for half a day, he had the army setup up camps and rest for the night. Since the army was too large he could not possibly take note of what's going on in all the camps so he left that to the generals while he focused on the meeting at hand.
In a well-guarded tent at the center of the camps set up Lucien and the other top-ranking officials sat and pondered on everything going on. They had an army that mostly consisted of warrior realm fighters and mages with a considerable amount of mortal realm experts who are considered the commanders of each thousand man unit and then the generals were at least at the spirit realm with Lucien as the only exception.
He had instructor Han lead one of the units and from what he was told. Instructor Emma works with the Vladimir family right now so she is one of the thousand-man commanders but Lucien couldn't care less. He hasn't met her since the day he was locked up in the dungeon after absorbing the grade two sealed artifact but what was more important is that she never made any attempt to reach out to him so he let their relationship die out. As long as they don't cross paths and she doesn't get in his way, he doesn't have a reason to kill her.
"You can't go in alone!" Klaus said adamantly with his hand wrapped around his chest.
They had already agreed to set up an ambush point when they get to a certain point on their journey but letting Lucien act independently is out of the question. In his opinion, with the emperor gone, the only thing stopping the coup d'etat planners from completely swallowing them up is Lucien. He is the unknown variable and the most likely to become the new emperor! He strongly believed they agreed to let him lead this battle because they hoped he would be killed off in battle. That explains why no one educated him on the dangers of war formations and unison spells. Even the emperor had to fight with an army talk less of a child.
"Don't forget! I am not alone and if this ambush is going to work perfectly well we need a bait which one of us has the most survivability skills Do not forget I have an army of over a thousand demonic beasts in my small army of undying beings. I am the one with the best shot at this And honestly, I am feeling great right now I cannot be killed" Lucien said with a bright smile that irritated Klaus.
He let his cold gaze kill Lucien's mood firsts before he spoke.
"Kid Even the emperor was killed and this is someone who practiced the immortal pathway! No one could kill him in the past and even he could not escape death Don't be stupid, no one is invincible... " Klaus said with a frown on his face.
"I never said I am invincible I only said I am the absolute!" Lucien retorted with a twisted smile on his face.
The confidence he kept exuding was even getting to Klaus and he was less aggressive at this point. Seeing how adamant Lucien was on this issue he could only let the kid go in hopes that the kid has more surprises for them as always.
"Damn my life That was difficult " Lucien said as he walked out of the tent and stretched.
He felt uneasy staying in the same tent with the Vladimir clan head and he knew Klaus felt the same way too. For some reason, he felt like this man was sent by the coup plotters to keep an eye on him rather than fight and Klaus was sent by the Wuxing clan head to make sure Lucien doesn't get set up! He could tell there was still infighting even now they have a powerful foe heading their way and this made Lucien believe he needed to take over the empire as soon as possible.
Under the watchful gaze of many, Lucien retired into his tent guarded by two spirit cultivators but he didn't stay long as he changed into a gray mist and slowly slipped out, darting into the nearest bushes.
With his current level of strength, it was nothing for Lucien to sneak through the guards positioned in the forest but then as he moved he realized someone has walked the same path!
Did someone feel like sneaking out too or is there any other reason behind it?
After experiencing the coup and everything that has happened so far, Lucien wasn't the type to trust easily. The tattoo of the magic beast Argo lit up as Lucien's eyes turned golden and the range of his sight was increased immensely, peering into the distance but even then couldn't see anyone.
'Do I follow?' Lucien thought as he sank back and tried to consider many things.
No matter how much he wanted to play it off in his head he knew there was most likely a spy amongst them and because of this, their ambush may not work out. He could always chase after the target but Lucien didn't know what to expect so he was reluctant to go forward. The unknown is the greatest fear of a master and only a fool will swagger around, thinking there is no one capable of shutting them down. As cocky as Lucien maybe he was no fool. He had no intentions of diving headfirst into a potential battle where the strength and weaknesses of the enemies are unknown.
He could only take in a deep breath and return to his tent. That night Lucien could barely sleep so he dedicated his time to studying. Before he left the Rakuzen clan territory, Lucien was able to take a spirit beast record from the underground vault of the clan, containing Rakuzen's fortune. In this book were pieces of information on all kinds of spirit beasts known to man! Since his faceless can take the form and mimic the ability of almost beast, Lucien decided to broaden his knowledge in the spirit beast world and try to increase his choices.
He noticed recently that he only copied the abilities of the Rakuzen and even though it is the most powerful option in Lucien's arsenal for this war, it is too tasking when it comes to energy and stamina intake. After everything that has happened he realized in a large-scale battle like this, conserving his strength is key so he needed more options.
Lucien spent most of the night reading but then he noticed some strange movement around his tent-making him frown. He wasn't scared of an assassin, he was just annoyed by the fact that these people ignored the upcoming war and tried to kill off their greatest chance of victory.
