Chapter 28 Battle In The Night

Chapter 28 Battle In The Night

Hearing his words, Cang Xue's face darkened and her heart pained in agony.

The leader moved his eyes at the brave man who was carrying the young girl.

"Hand over the Princess and we will let you live." The black-robed man said, his voice stiff and emotionless.

Yue Hao's face had a cold smile and spoke, "I will never give her up to the likes of you. You can take me down with that number of yours but I swear on Heaven's name I'll slaughter every single one of you before I die. The princess will never be yours."

His majestic voice rumbled like the crackling thunder in the sky and caused many black-robed men to take a step back as his chilly voice instill fear in them.

The black-robed men exchanged a look with one another, and their eyes flickered with hesitation and terror.

They were weighing their choices, trying to decide if it was worth it to take on the renowned talented genius of content and fight him.

"What are you thinking, idiots? If we don't finish this mission we will still die and our family will be killed as well. It's better if we die while finishing our mission." The leader said, waking them up from their frightened state and reminding them of their desperate fate.

Seeing their reawakened spirit, he commanded, "Everyone attack..."

All the black-robed men took out their sword's from scabbards one after another and prepared to dive in on their target.

They didn't summon the spirit as it could alert the royal guards even though they were a little far away from the castle.

Yue Hao didn't flinch, his eyes scanning the group that was marching toward him. He knew he was outnumbered, but he was also aware that he wouldn't let Cang Xue die.

'They didn't summon their spirit. It's probably because they don't want to alert the royal guards. If I summon mine they wouldn't care about royal guards anymore and may come at us with all force.

It's better I don't summon my spirit as well so that Xue'er doesn't get harmed in the free fire of spirit skills.'

The man didn't move, waiting for the right moment to strike.

Suddenly, one of the men lunged forward, his sword aimed at Yue Hao's heart.

He quickly sidestepped, grabbing the man's arm and using his momentum to throw him away.

The other men attacked all at once, their swords slashing through the air.

Little Xue's Master spun and darted, his movements fluid and precise as he fought to defend his innocent disciple.

Despite being so careful, Yue Hai was having a hard time-saving Cang Xue from the enemies' attacks.

One of the strikes had stabbed Cang Xue's shoulder which was bleeding.

'If this continues they may hurt Xue'er. I can not let that happen. Ahh... Son, Please forgive me.'

A silver light enveloped his body as Yue Hao burned his life energy to get an instant boost for a short period of time to keep Cang Xue safe through the battle and finish it faster.

Yue Hao had received an incredible enhancement in strength that increased his speed and power level.

One by one, he took down his opponents, his mighty fists and feet flying as he battled for his disciple's life.

Finally, the leader fell to the ground, defeated. Yue Hao stood tall, panting and covered in blood, but didn't let anyone harm little Cang Xue.

He had faced twenty rankers in the Monarch realm and emerged victorious, but at the cost of his own life.

Yue Hao sent a spirit skill nearby and exploded the building to alert the royal guards.

He kneeled on the ground, supporting himself using a sword, and let Cang Xue climb down from his back.

The brave man looked into her eyes and said with a bittersweet smile, "It seems I don't have much time left."

"What do you mean, Master?" The little princess's face darkened hearing these words but she asked again as she didn't want to believe it.

"You were a good child, Xue'er. Master surely cherishes Yue Yan most but he also loves you." Yue Hao said in a laggard voice, his face losing the bright light due to the reduced amount of life energy.

"Noo....master... you can't leave me." The little girl realized what he meant and cried like a child.

Her scarlet eyes flowed uncontrollably with streaks of tears, drowning her face with them.

"Don't cry, Xue'er. I didn't teach you to be weak. After today, I won't be here to look after you." He said in an exhausted voice.

The young princess's eyes continued to flow with tears as she said in a sorrowful voice, "Master, I'm sorry for blaming you that day. You're not like the others."

"Who said I'm not like others? I also have done some mistakes in my life like not being able to become a good father. Although I don't fear dying my only regret is that my child would grow up without his parents." Yue Hao said in a leaden tone.

"What about your wife? Won't she take care of him?" Cang Xue's heart skipped a beat.

She felt upset that day that her master doesn't adore her more than Yue Yan, thinking he had the love of both parents.
