Chapter 160 160. Burying Max's Corpse.
The football field was a mess. There were huge craters scattered around the field and at the center of the destroyed field was Kevin, who was glaring at the impostor.
Before him was a huge tree and the impostor had vines wrapped around his body, binding him to the tree. The vines had thorns which continuously pierced his skin as the vines tightened their hold.
There were barely any signs of life in his eyes, Kevin also noticed that he was more of a chameleon than a lizard, hence the reason why the impostor could blend in with his surroundings.
This was also why Kevin tied him to the tree with the vines, he might be able to camouflage himself with his surroundings but as long as he couldn't teleport from the tree, he would remain tied up in the exact same position.
Kevin released the vines and the impostor fell straight to the ground.
His entire body felt numb after what Kevin had done to him; he had repeatedly crushed his limbs and bones, making it difficult for the impostor to continuously heal himself.
Then, he finally caved in and told Kevin that he was ready to tell him everything he needed to know.
Kevin grabbed the impostor by his hair and lifted him to take a look at his face.
His face was swollen and he didn't want to heal himself anymore because Kevin would only crush his face once again if he ended up healing himself.
He couldn't even fight back to free himself from Kevin's grip.
His body was too weak to fight back, and he knew that Kevin would only hurt him more if he did.
"Speak," Kevin ordered while maintaining a serious expression.
The impostor slowly opened his eyes a bit before parting his mouth to speak. "Right after your father was killed, he was dumped at the bottom of the ocean."
"Why did Christopher Mormon and Ned Baratheon want him dead?"
"I honestly do not know. All I know is that they've wanted his company for years but they knew your dad wouldn't willingly sell his company, so they needed an Awakened who possessed the ability to manipulate minds or shapeshift."
"And that was why they used you? Because you could do the latter?"
"Yes. But I don't remember how I got to the hospital in the first place. The last thing I remember was that I was in a lab where some drugs were being tested on me and some other people.
So many of us died from the experiment, I was one of the few who survived and was ordered to live as your father until his company is completely sold to Mr Ned."
"Since you can't recall how you got to the hospital, do you think Christopher Mormon or Ned Baratheon could also be an Awakened?"
"I don't know. I haven't seen either of them doing something that would make me think they are."
"What is your name?"
"Axel."
"At least you remember your name."
After saying that, Kevin grabbed Axel's head tighter and raised it higher.
Although Axel screamed in agony due to the way Kevin was holding his head, Kevin didn't care about this. Instead, he suddenly deactivated his Cubic Fabricated Reality skill. Then he flung Axel to the ground and summoned Cerberus to keep an eye on him before flying straight to where Max's corpse was dumped.
"If he tries to run away, tear him to shreds," Kevin ordered and Cerberus growled in acknowledgement while facing Axel. He would gladly tear Axel to shreds if he tried to escape.
Axel was now at a greater disadvantage. He knew that his camouflage ability wouldn't work against a huge demonic dog like Cerberus because Cerberus would still detect him even if he blended in with his surroundings.
After flying for some time, Kevin then dived into the ocean where Max's body was dumped.
He swam to the bottom because Max's body was tied to an anchor, making it difficult for anyone to spot his corpse.
A few minutes later, Kevin flew out of the sea with a corpse in his hand. He landed in front of Cerberus and Axel. Cerberus then grabbed Axel by the collar of his shirt and leaped into Kevin's shadow.
Now, both of them were hidden in his shadow. Kevin leaped into the sky before flying far away to give Max a proper burial.
Right after Kevin buried Max, he sat on a huge boulder, thinking about his next course of action.
Aside from Axel not recalling how he got to the hospital, he also didn't recall the location of the place he had been experimented on.
'But, no matter how I look at it, it seems that a bit of his memory was wiped away.' Kevin thought to himself.
'Then, I guess it is safe to say that either Ned Baratheon or Christopher Mormon possesses the ability to wipe memories or maybe someone else entirely possesses this ability,' Kevin rubbed his forehead in frustration as he tried to figure out what to do next.
"Cerberus," Kevin called out and Cerberus leaped out of his shadow before tossing Axel to the ground.
The demon dog lowered its head, awaiting Kevin's orders.
'Send one of your clones into his shadow.' Kevin pointed at Axel who was confused by what Kevin was doing.
'Yes master,' Cerberus nodded before splitting into two. Its clone turned to face Axel before running towards him and leaping into his shadow.
"No, wait. Please, don't kill me. I swear I already told you everything I know. I was just following orders. Please don't kill me!!"
Seeing the dog advance towards him, Axel immediately assumed that Cerberus' clone wanted to eat him, so he desperately pleaded for his life, but to his surprise, Cerberus' clone simply leaped into his shadow.
Axel didn't know that Kevin spoke to Cerberus in his mind because he only saw Kevin pointing towards him while looking at Cerberus and this made him think that Kevin wanted him dead.
But it wasn't time for that, yet.
Kevin still needed him for his future plans.
Besides, if he killed Axel right now, it would only make Christopher and Ned Baratheon suspicious of the fact that someone knew their secret.
Kevin turned his gaze towards Axel before saying.
"I have a task for you."
