Chapter 105: Misunderstanding Settled
After a while, Bai Ran finally brought out a plate of snowflakes that had not been cut.
“You need to wait a little longer. When it gets cold, you can cut it up and eat it.” Bai Ran looked at Chen Chen apologetically.
“It’s fine. I just don’t understand why you have to do this.” Chen Chen frowned.
“Do you really not remember anything?” Bai Ran placed the snowflake nougats on the dining table and asked casually, but in reality, she was waiting for Chen Chen’s answer.
“I don’t remember. What’s so special about it?” Chen Chen was confused.
“Think about it again.” Bai Ran was a little disappointed and reminded him. “Didn’t you receive snowflake nougats when you were a student?”
“Huh?” Chen Chen did not understand. He searched hard in his mind as if there were some fragments slowly piecing together in his mind…
“You mean you gave me a box in the past?” Chen Chen touched his head and came to a realization.
“You finally remember?” Bai Ran was a little surprised.
“I also remember that you even took out a box at home when you were catching rats last time. It seems to be the same?” Chen Chen frowned.
“Yes, yes, yes!” Bai Ran was suddenly a little excited, having the feeling that they had finally reconnected after so many years. “It’s the same box!”
“Then why didn’t you eat it yourself? You even left it at home for so long and ended up attracting rats!” Chen Chen could not help but laugh. “You don’t have to waste food even if you fail in confessing to others.”
“I didn’t confess to you… I just wanted to give it to you.” Bai Ran lowered her head in embarrassment. Her two fingers circled around each other awkwardly.
“You didn’t confess to me. Didn’t you give it to me because you failed in confessing to someone?” Chen Chen said as he followed the memory, but he suddenly reacted the next second and shouted, “Wait, I remember now. I think you’ve always liked me! I’ve already seen your box!”
At the mention of the box, Bai Ran became even shyer and retorted habitually, “Who said I always liked you?!”
“Hey, wait. Who said I gave it to you because I failed to confess to someone?” Bai Ran reacted and exclaimed. “How could I confess to someone else? How could I give you what I gave someone else?”
“Hu Wan said so. At that time, you ran over with this box of snowflake nougats in your hand. She said that she saw you not far away and told me that you held that box of snowflake nougats to confess to a man. You didn’t give it away, so it seemed like you didn’t succeed. Then, you ran to me and stuffed it into my hands,” Chen Chen explained.
“No wonder you rejected me back then. You had no expression and didn’t say anything!” Bai Ran shouted. Her eyes were wide open, and she no longer knew how to describe her current feelings!
“I’m a gentleman, okay?! You gave me something no one else wanted. What do you mean? I just rejected it!” Chen Chen pursed his lips. When he thought of his feelings back then, he felt a little unhappy. Regardless of whether he had any feelings for Bai Ran back then, they had grown up together. How could she have done this?
“But I really didn’t! That was specially made for you!” Bai Ran said loudly, her voice aggrieved and beginning to choke.
“Then it’s obvious. Hu Wan did it on purpose.” When Chen Chen mentioned Hu Wan, his face became an iceberg again. “That’s true. With her way of doing things, she can do it.”
“What do you mean? Besides, you’re even calling her by her name now. Are you that distant from her?” Bai Ran looked at Chen Chen curiously. “Do you know something?”
Bai Ran wondered if he had confirmed that she was the one who had done those two things?
“You don’t have to worry about it. Don’t think about things you shouldn’t,” Chen Chen said perfunctorily, not wanting to answer.
“These things are related to me. It even concerns my life! Why can’t I think about it?” Bai Ran’s eyes drooped. She was very speechless, especially when she had just confirmed that Hu Wan had caused her to be misunderstood for so long, even if Chen Chen had forgotten about it long ago.
