She even made a special delivery of breakfast that morning.

That made him involuntarily feel a bit surprised, with an added touch of caution and doubt in his heart.

He had heard a bit about Sabrina, a proud and pampered woman at Section Six.

Jacob was a very gentle person. He treated his assistants well in his daily interactions without displaying the eccentric temperament often found in higher-ups.

So, he didn't particularly resist the sudden goodwill from Sabrina and just became a bit more cautious.

“Ms. Gray, thank you for your concern and the breakfast. We have a caregiver here, so if you have other matters to attend to, feel free to go ahead.”

He didn't want to be in anyone's debt, especially to a proud woman like Sabrina.

“Mr. Lester, please, there's no need for such formality. We're all colleagues here, and everyone can see how much you care for us all.”

Sabrina spoke as she poured another glass of water for Jacob.

Jacob smiled subtly. “Thank you.”

As the two were in conversation, Lucas walked in with Ashlyn.

“Mr. Lester, how are you feeling today? Is your head still hurting?”

Upon seeing Jacob trying to get up from the bed, Lucas immediately stopped him. “Don't move around. Your health is important.”

“Mr. Nolan, I just bought breakfast for Mr. Lester. Have you eaten yet? There's an extra portion here.” Sabrina quickly made her presence known to Lucas, cheerfully holding the lunch box up to him. “Would you like to try some?”

A peculiar glint flashed in Jacob's eyes. It turns out that Sabrina's real intention isn't visiting me. She's trying to use me to climb up the ranks!

Lucas rejected Sabrina coldly, “No thanks. I've already eaten with my wife.”

Only after he finished his sentence did Shiela act as if she had just noticed Ashlyn's presence. “Ah, I'm sorry. Ms. Berry, you're here too?”

Ashlyn glanced at her lightly. “Ms. Gray, you're early.”

Upon hearing that cool, detached voice, Jacob couldn't help but glance at the woman standing behind Lucas.

The woman's skin was extremely fair, so white that it seemed to glow. Her features were delicate. Her eyes were clear and pitch-black. Her face, untouched by makeup, was flawlessly beautiful.

Her raven-black hair was pulled up into a high ponytail, and she exuded an aura that clearly warned others to keep their distance.

“Who is this?” Jacob couldn't help but ask.

“Mr. Lester, this is Ashlyn Berry. She's quite skilled in medicine, so I invited her to come and check on you,” Lucas said with great respect to Jacob. “If you feel any discomfort, feel free to tell her directly.”

A woman as young as her is here to treat my illness? A flicker of surprise flashed in Jacob's eyes.

Seeing how much Lucas valued Ashlyn, especially the indulgent look in his eyes whenever he looked at her, made Sabrina feel both jealous and bitter.

She clearly remembered that the information on Lucas's file in Section Six indicated he was divorced.

Everyone's personal information in Section Six was stored in the computer files of Section Six. Therefore, she specifically looked at Lucas' at that time. This implies that he and Ashlyn have been divorced for a while now. Ashlyn is his ex-wife. She must have been constantly clinging to Lucas, relentlessly pursuing him in every possible way after the divorce.

Sabrina looked at Ashlyn with a hint of disdain and contempt in her eyes. Mr. Nolan has already divorced you. What are you still hoping for? You even followed him all the way to Jadeborough. This must be the case.

The more she thought about it, the more she felt that Ashlyn really had no shame and was such a thick-skinned person.

Sabrina let her imagination run wild, imagining the scenes of Ashlyn's relentless pursuit of Lucas.

She now wished nothing more than to rescue Lucas from his dire straits immediately.

Then, she saw Ashlyn begin to flip through Jacob's medical records.

Ashlyn read at an extremely fast pace.

A few minutes later, she closed the medical record and spoke in her usual emotionless voice. “This is a chronic disease you have. It's not something that can be cured with a few doses of medicine, nor can it be resolved with a ten or eight-day hospital stay. It requires gradual treatment. You should also slow down your experiments. At the very least, your protective gear and safety measures must be upgraded.”
