There was a thud as Silas fell out of his chair and onto the floor, his mouth agape in shock. It was such a hard fall that his whole body ached, making him grimace in pain.

“Are you possessed?”

“Ms. Gray, what's going on?”

Silas wore a horrified expression, looking as though he had seen a ghost. “Is what you've made edible? Could it be that you've intentionally poisoned it? Is that what awaits Ms. Berry in this dish?”

She shot him an annoyed glance, then glanced at her colleagues from Section Six, who were also staring at her in shock.

Stomping her foot in frustration, she said, “How could I possibly harm Ms. Berry? What are you talking about? I... I can cook. I may not be a master chef, but I certainly wouldn't poison anyone!”

As she spoke, she quickly speared a piece of fried mushroom with her fork and popped it into her mouth.

“If this is poisoned, I'll be the first one to die.”

However, Ashlyn interrupted her indignant outburst and said, “Let me have a taste.”

Her calm voice felt like spring water on a summer's day and was music to Sabrina's ears. The expression on Sabrina's beautiful face showed just how moved she was. “Ms. Berry, why are you so nice to me? You're simply too good to me.”

Moving closer to Ashlyn, she fixed her large, mesmerizing eyes on Ashlyn's fair face. “Is it good?”

Ashlyn nodded. “It's quite tasty.”

“Really?” Sabrina's face lit up with delight.

“Mm-hmm.”

“That's great! How about I cook for you every day from now on? I can learn to make a wide variety of dishes. What cuisine do you prefer? Horken cuisine? Strassonian cuisine? Or Horken cuisine?” Sabrina was practically bouncing off the walls with the zealousness to cook up a storm.

Meanwhile, Lucas remained silent and furrowed his brows, displeased with Sabrina's seemingly love- struck devotion.

His face was stern and cold, and his voice was tinged with an icy chill as he uttered, “Ms. Gray, does the technical department have a lot of free time on its hands?”

Sabrina's expression froze. She sensed a wave of icy aura rushing straight toward her, and she could not help but shiver.

As soon as her gaze met Lucas' cold eyes, she looked away as though trying to escape. Her intense desire to be close to Ashlyn also vanished instantly, shriveling up like a deflated ball.

“M-Ms. Berry...” She turned to Ashlyn with a pitiful look. Her aggrieved expression was just like that of a child who had been deeply hurt.

“I... I think it's better if I keep my distance from you. Otherwise, Mr. Nolan will get angry. I don't want to upset him. It's all my fault,” she continued, just short of bursting into tears.

Lucas' expression instantly hardened. Have I encountered a phony? And she's complaining to my wife, not me? Isn't this situation a bit too bizarre?

Then, he saw his wife confidently pick up a piece of fried mushroom and hold it up to Sabrina's lips. “You've worked hard to cook this meal but haven't tasted it yet, have you?”

Sabrina's eyes sparkled with gratitude. “Thank you...”
