Chapter 1182 I Cannot Control Her

Even though her voice wasn't harsh, the words she spoke gave them the creeps.

“Our apologies. Zaewora is just a barren small country. How could we possibly compare to Section Six of H Nation?” Herald chuckled softly, “It's all our fault. I assure you, on my honor and my position, we will never make the same mistake again.”

He had always been held in high esteem wherever he went, always the center of attention, surrounded by people who bow and scrape before him, singing his praises.

However, at that very moment, he was ruthlessly slapped in the face by Ashlyn and harshly trampled under her foot.

She was like an elegant and commanding queen. One could only look up to and obey her.

And she indeed had that ability.

Their previous intentions of showing their true colors to Section Six had now completely vanished without a trace.

“You're truly wise, Mr. Cook.” Ashlyn glanced at him. “Since you're so wise, let's get started, then.”

As she spoke, she handed the pistol over to Herald.

Leroy and Sloan, among others, once again looked at her sharply.

Sloan's face was as pale as a sheet. He stared at the pistol as if it were the embodiment of death itself.

After all that had been said, he had thought that Ashlyn would change her mind.

But little did he expect Ashlyn would still insist on pushing Herald to the brink of death.

Sloan couldn't help but gulp. He pleaded to Ashlyn, “Could you please let me take Mr. Cook's place...”

If Herald were to die, he would surely be killed by the President too. Rather than that, he thought he might as well die in place of Herald, for he might even build a good reputation. The President might even remember his sacrifice and treat his family favorably.

The more he thought about it, the sadder he became. He almost couldn't hold back the tears that threatened to spill from his eyes.

I brought this upon myself. I shall bear the consequences.

“What's the big deal? It's just a gun, and besides, it only has one bullet, not six,” Ashlyn said, making it sound as easy and simple as eating and drinking. “Mr. Lacey, I would also like to have you replace Mr. Cook, but no. You're just not up to the task.”

Sloan almost fainted.

This woman is nothing but a devil, a living, breathing demon.

With a thud, he fell to his knees before Lucas, pleading through his tears, “Mr. Nolan, I beg you... Please make the vice president stop... Everything is my fault. Every single mistake is mine.”

“Sorry, I really can't control her.”

Lucas subtly lifted his gaze, his response crisp and straightforward.

Sloan felt as if he had plunged into an abyss.

The meaning of Lucas' words was very clear.

He simply didn't want to interfere. He had no desire to get involved, and he was backing Ashlyn up.

He was giving his silent approval for her to do so, and they had to do whatever she said.

“Mr. Cook, would you look at Mr. Lacey's courage? People who didn't know better might think I was sending him to the guillotine,” Ashlyn said in a leisurely voice.

Herald's eyes met with an extremely beautiful woman who was looking at him with a cool and detached expression. A hint of a cold smile hung on the corner of her lips.

“Stop wasting time. It's just a matter of pulling the trigger, is it not?” Ashlyn tossed the pistol in front of him. “Come on!”

Almost everyone was taken aback by her swift and decisive action of throwing the gun.

Their faces were pale as they stared at the handgun in Herald's hand.

They feared that with a single shot, the bullet would whizz through his head and blow it apart in an instant.

Herald looked at the handgun, his face turning a shade paler.

Who would have the audacity to commit suicide, especially those who have long been in power, holding supreme authority and wealth in their hands?
