Chapter 1300 Plastic Surgery

The man slowly sat up and took the mirror the doctor handed to him, examining his handsome face in the mirror.

Although his face looked somewhat fake, his original appearance was no longer discernible.

His eyes were narrow, his nose was high and straight, and his lips were thin.

His face was slender, and his chin was pointed.

It was clear that he had undergone plastic surgery on his face.

However, he didn't mind.

He nodded. “Very good.”

“I'm glad you're satisfied, sir.” The doctor nodded. “If you need anything in the future, feel free to come to me.”

“Sorry, but you might not be around when I need you,” the man said, exuding a chilling aura.

Before the doctor could react, a dagger had already pierced through his throat!

His eyes widened in shock as blood gushed continuously from his neck. In disbelief, he clutched at his wound, attempting to escape.

However, the man stretched out his long leg, knocking him to the ground.

“Do you think I'll let you leave?” he asked, like a demon, radiating a strong sense of malice. “Anyone who knows my secrets must die!”

When night fell, the car slowly returned to Section Six Headquarters in Jadeborough.

Ashlyn had dozed off on the way, leaning against Lucas.

His embrace was warm and comforting.

When the car stopped, she blinked her eyes and heard Lucas saying, “Let's grab a bite. We can visit Mr. Field at the hospital tomorrow.”

Ashlyn nodded. “That works.”

They got out of the car together, and Silas was already waiting. “Ms. Berry, Mr. Nolan, dinner is ready in the dining room.”

Right then, Sabrina came over to them. Upon seeing Ashlyn, she immediately put on a charming smile. “Ms. Berry, you must be starving after a long journey.”

She approached but refrained from touching Ashlyn's arm due to Lucas's imposing presence. Instead, she held back.

“The security in Jadeborough has become quite frightening. I suspect someone is deliberately causing trouble for Mr. Field,” Sabrina whispered to Ashlyn.

Ashlyn halted in her tracks. “What happened?”

As Ashlyn's attention was on her, Sabrina endured the intimidating look directed at her and reported, “Earlier today, there was a murder at a remote plastic surgery clinic. The plastic surgeon was killed, his throat slashed. The police were on the scene, but there was no evidence or clue left by the suspect. They suspect it might be some form of societal revenge. These recent events have been quite strange. The doctor's colleagues have mentioned to the police that he was friendly and had no known enemies.

It's hard to imagine why someone would want to kill a plastic surgeon. This case might go unsolved for a while.”

Ashlyn listened silently to Sabrina's report, feeling that something was not quite right.

“Plastic surgeon...”

“Secretary Field is still in the hospital. It seems the police will have to handle this case on their own,” Lucas said in his deep, low voice. “Let's eat.”

By this time, they had reached the dining room.

Upon entering the room, Ashlyn was surprised to see everyone gathered there.

Section Six was like a big family, and there were quite a few people.

Usually, they ate separately, but today everyone was assembled and rose as soon as they returned.

They stood in a neat formation, clearly waiting for their return to have dinner together.

“Hello, Mr. Nolan!”

“Hello, Ms. Berry!”

Lucas showed no surprise and gestured for everyone to sit down.

“Section Six has been quite busy lately, so thank you for your hard work,” he said in his magnetic voice. “The New Year is approaching, and I assure you all, I will not let you down.”

After he said a few more words, everyone began to eat.

The next morning, Ashlyn woke up slowly.

When she did, she furrowed her brows. Perhaps it was because of the heavy humidity in that village, but she sniffled and realized that she had caught a cold despite being usually healthy.
