Chapter 62

Anika raised her eyes and said calmly, "If you don't want it, there will still be a lot of people who want to take over.”

What she meant was that he didn't have to force her to sell the shares to others.

Looking at her stubborn expression, Kayden remained silent for a while.

His throat moved slightly and he sighed, "Alright, if this will make you feel more comfortable, I will accept it."

She nodded and stood up.

When he saw what she was doing, he narrowed his eyebrows and asked, "Are you leaving now?"

As he saw her return her gaze, he tightened his hands and hopelessly muttered bitterly, "Anika, you promised me that you would give me a chance to try and save it"

‘An opportunity to try and save it?’ She was confused and pondered for a few seconds before remembering that Kayden had approached her during her grandfather's burial to speak with her.

However, she didn't pay attention to what he said because of Zac's warning stare.

"Sorry, I think you misunderstood" Her voice was calm.

"You've helped me in the past, and I've returned the favor. We'll be even"

"It's even?"

Kayden gritted his teeth and looked straight at her, "Anika, am I that unforgivable? Do you need to weigh everything in the past like this?"

She sighed, but she was determined to explain everything to Kayden.

"Kayden, I don't think I have anything to do with you. It's not that you're sorry. If you save it, I have to start over without you.I have my own life.”

‘And you had no right to interfere’ she continued to herself As he watched her create the barrier, he couldn't help but be irritated by what she had just said.

He stood up and walked in front of her.

"Alright, I won't stop you from starting a new life. But even if it's just business, you don't need to avoid me, do you?"

Anika frowned at what he stated and met his gaze.

LH Company, President's Office.

Tony took ten days off, but he was hesitant to use up all of his vacation time.

Therefore, he cancelled his leave and returned to work.

To express his care for his brother and complete the task at hand, he took the elevator to the top level and gave Zac the gifts he had purchased while on vacation.

But what Tony didn't expect was that the man didn't even look at him when he came up to offer him a present.

Instead, he noticed him gently cleaning the wedding ring on his ring finger with a soft cloth.

"Alright, don't wipe it! You're almost wiping the polish off the ring."

In the end, he couldn't bear to see Zac's behavior and spoke sarcastically.

"Which wedding ring do you think needs to be shined?"

Zac glanced at him and said in a dragged tone, "Do you not understand the absolute truth?"

Tony curled his lips and said, "Since you're so precious, why didn't you wear it before?"

After all, if Zac had a wedding ring, he would have worn it to show off and this idea was according to his sneaky attitude.

Zac paused slightly and did not answer.

Instead, he pressed down on the landline on his desk.

Two minutes later, Frederick pushed open the door and walked in.

"Boss, you called me?"

"Take that painting off.

Remember to send it to the auction the next time there's a charity party"

He pointed at the painting behind him which he bought at the auction last year.

He liked it and displayed it proudly in the office.

Tony knew that the painting was very valuable, so he couldn't help but ask, "Why do you want to remove it?"

When Frederick heard this, he smiled as he took out the painting to help him clear up his doubts.

"Mr.Poole, boss and his wife took a wedding photo." He stated.

As a special assistant, he knew his boss' mind pretty well.

Of course, he understood what his boss meant.

With the wedding photos, of course, he wouldn't need this painting anymore

"Do you want to hang up wedding photos in the office?" Tony asked.

Tony glanced at the man in front of him in disgust.

Zac flipped through the documents that Frederick had brought in.He replied indifferently as he glanced through the signature, "No?"

Tony didn't say anything and just thought, ‘Alright! Of course! Who can compete with you?! Luckily, the meeting was downstairs.Apart from him and Frederick, almost no one else would come.

Otherwise, their wedding photographs would have overwhelmed them all.

Perhaps Tony was already used to his behavior, so he changed the topic, "Oh right, everyone said they were going to have dinner this weekend, so I thought it would be better to go to your house?"

"Not suitable"

"What's inappropriate about this? Forget it if you don't bring Anika. You still won't let us go over.Your villa hasn't been occupied for more than a year. It's time for us to warm up your room.Don't worry, the gifts are all ready.’

Zac smirked and responded nonchalantly, "It's not a gift.”

"What's the problem?"

"Why do you care? Do I need to tell you?"

After signing the last document, he closed the folder and gradually stood up.

He grabbed the phone from the side carefully, as if he was going to leave.

"What are you doing!"

He gave Tony a little smile and gently tapped his wristwatch.

He raised his eyebrows and said, "It's time to pick up someone from work.”

After saying that, he walked towards the door.

However, he didn't take a few steps before turning around.

Tony thought that he would change his mind.

So he smiled and asked, "What, did you suddenly agree to go to your house again?"

Zac gave him a gentle glance and patted his shoulder, "Larkin still has a lot of work to do for you at this time.’

"So?" He stated.

He arched his brow and said, "I'm afraid you'll have to repay him for his overtime because the holidays aren't over yet."

What he said made Tony speechless.

After work, Anika did not receive the Viber message that Zac had usually sent her on time.

She was a bit surprised, but she expected him to be here.

She finished her work, shut down her computer, grabbed her paperwork, and took the elevator to the parking lot on the ground floor.

Sure enough, Bentley stopped at a familiar location.

After opening the door, She got into the car and put down her bag.

She then looked at the man beside her and said, "There's still some beef in the fridge.

Do you want to stew tomatoes tonight?"

"Yes."

He only replied calmly.

She tilted her head to look at him and noticed that Zac's mood today was strange.

He didn't message her on Viber when she got off from work but his current expression indicated that he was strangely cold..

"You don't like tomato stew beef belly?"

She asked, puzzled.

Despite his preference for food, he was never picky about his taste, as though he wasn't picky about his dish.

He faintly looked back and said, "No."

Then, without saying anything further, he averted his complex gaze and adjusted his seat.

The driver was still seated in the front seat, but Anika stopped for a while before deciding to continue inquiring when they got home.

The silence lasted for a long time.

When they returned to the villa, Zac silently opened the door and removed his shoes.

Anika followed him into the living room, observing his mood.

Then, she couldn't help but ask, "What happened to you?"

"What do you mean?"

His tie was half-untied, and his shirt was partly open.

He raised his eyebrows and looked at her.

She asked, "Did you encounter something unhappy today?"

He clenched his fists as he remembered what he saw as he passed by the cafe.

Then he walked over to the sofa and sat down.

His face was expressionless and just uttered, "There are two cats next door, you know?"

He was talking about the two pet cats next door.

The two cats would occasionally jump over to the balcony of the gym on the second level to bask in the sun because it was adjacent.

Anika nodded and said, "I know’ "The black cat has been ignoring the white one lately."

He said calmly.

She softly moved the corner of her mouth down and stated, "Zac, they are not called a black cat or a white cat. They're called coffee and milk”

After she finished speaking, she received a man's neither salty nor indifferent gaze.

So she sighed and asked, "What do you want to express?"

"Its owner said that every time it was fed, the white cat ate the food in the bowl and looked at the black cat's bowl."

He chuckled and said with a heavy tone, "This is called …half-heartedness” She curled her eyebrows doubtfully and nodded, "Milk is indeed not a good habit.I didn't expect coffee to be quite miserable"

"But why do you suddenly care about the cat next door?"

"Anika, do you think that if the white cat wants to reconcile with the black cat, it must--"

His tone was shaky, and he was hesitant to continue talking.

Then he looked at her and arched his eyebrows, "Can you persuade him?"

The author has something to say: Zac thought, ‘I'm so angry! She met Kayden! Although I knew that there must be a reason, I'm still jealous!’’
