My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 143 Officially A Footy Wears Athlete

Chapter 143 Officially A Footy Wears Athlete

The way the two had entered the building was very embarrassing as they had all the eyes in the room on them now.

Dave didn't know what to do and just stood there scratching the back of his head with a nervous look on his face but Clark knew exactly what to do as he grabbed the goalkeeper by his arm and pulled him along with him as he made his way to the receptionist's desk.

No one was standing in their way so they didn't have to wait.

"Hello, my name's Clark Munrow and this is my friend Dave, we have an appointment here today," Clark said.

"Yeah, I'm aware of that." She said before bringing up the tablet lying in front of her.

It didn't take long before a bald man putting on a black suit popped up behind.

"Gentlemen, would you please follow me?" The man said as the two quickly turned their gaze to him.

They did as they were told and followed him to the elevator and once the three of them were inside, the man pushed the number sixteen floor which was the highest floor.

"So where are we going?" Dave asked a few seconds after the elevator door closed up.

"To see the manager, he already has everything set up, he seems very happy to have you here today." The man said.

"I see," Dave said before turning his gaze away from him.

"My name is Lennon Chavez by the way, no need to introduce yourselves, I already know your names," Lennon said.

"Okay." Clark and Dave said in unison.

[ Quest completed ]

[ You successfully made it to the company by foot and covered twelve kilometers ]

[ Quest rewards ]

[ +70 exp received ]

[ +2 skill upgrade points received ]

[ +1 skill points received ]

'Let's test these skill upgrade points and see how they work, how do you even use them?'

<Go to your skill bar, you will see a small upgrade tab below your skills, then click the one below the skill you wish to upgrade>

'Okay.' Dave replied before quickly doing as he was told.

Currently, he had three unlocked skills, Double jump, Ball magnet, and Double stamina and all of them had the small upgrade tab below them.

<Choose wisely>

'Let's see, I don't usually use Double jump because people may see it and get suspicious, Double stamina has annoying side effects unless I'm doing something and need a stamina refill to keep pushing slowly so I'm going ball magnet here.'

[ Ball magnet ]

[ Upgrade points required for level up 8/10 ]

'Just two upgrade points remaining.'

<Add the only upgrade points you have and the skill will level up>

'Okay.'

[ Upgrade points required for level up 10/10 ]

[ Level up ]

As soon as that message popped up on his screen, the goalkeeper felt a tingling sensation in his palms which was followed by a piercing pain.

He didn't want to startle the two who were in the elevator so he folded his hands into fists and gritted his teeth to endure the pain until it was gone.

[ Ball magnet has successfully leveled up ]

'What was that all about?'

<What?>

'That strange feeling I felt in my hands which was quickly followed by that pain? I felt like someone was cutting my palms with pocket knives.'

<That's just the little price you have to pay every time you upgrade a skill relating to a certain part of your body, it's break down and rebuild>

'Huh?'

<Figure it out yourself>

[ Ball magnet is now level 2 ]

[ Number of tries before cooldown has been extended by two ]

[ One minute has been subtracted from the cooldown time ]

'That's nice.' Dave said subconsciously. 'I'm just wondering what would have happened if I had decided to upgrade Double jump or Double stamina instead of ball magnet.'

<Firstly, I don't think you want to find out, especially in the situation you are in now and secondly, I don't think just two upgrade points would have been enough to upgrade any of them to level two>

'Huh?'

[ Double jump ]

[ Upgrade points required for level up 5/10 ]

[ Double stamina ]

[ Upgrade points required for level up 1/10 ]

<Upgrade points are automatically added to your skills the more you use them, that's why ball magnet had the most ball magnet because it's the skill mostly used by you> Catherine explained.

'Yeah, I've already figured that out.'

The conversation between Dave and Catherine had been cut short as the elevator had finally gotten them to their destination and opened up for them to come out.

The walls by the side were covered with large wallpapers of footy Wears logo embedded in gold with a black background.

Looking ahead toward the far end of the room, they could see someone sitting behind a desk.

"This way," Lennon said, leading them toward the area.

As soon as the two got closer to the desk, the man slowly got up from his desk with a bright smile on his face.

"Welcome, Clark and Dave." He said.

When Dave looked toward the area from that far, he couldn't clearly see the man because he was too far away but he expected him to be a middle-aged man or someone close to that age but the person he was looking at now looked very young, he looked to be around the same age bracket as him and Clark.

Mr. Johnson Malkovich was the manager of Footy wears, a young-looking man with blonde hair which seemed to be bleached a little, he wasn't that much of a good-looking person but you could call him handsome.

He had bags under his eyes probably because of lack of sleep.

"Please, seats." The man said pointing at the seats in front of his desk.

"Okay," Dave said before he sat down on the seat on the right and Clark sat down on the other one.

________ ________

Everything that was done there took a very long time, it took three hours which meant that by the time the two got out of the building, the time was 5:05 PM and the sun had begun to set.

Dave was holding a back which seemed to be filled with some light materials judging by the way he was holding the bag but he had to stuff it for the materials to fit.

"You are officially a footy Wears athlete," Clark said with a bright smile on his face.

"Yeah, my first endorsement deal," Dave said.

"I guess it's time to start heading back."

"Let's do it by foot just like the way we came," Dave said.

Just as those words left his mouth, Clark shot him a cold stare that would have given him a heart attack if he didn't know him.

"Hey, calm down, I was just joking," Dave said with a little chuckle.

"You better be because if you're not, then you're going to walk to the airport alone," Clark said.

"Yeah, I don't think I can do that." The goalkeeper said, scratching the back of his head.

"Let's walk ahead and see if we can find a cab."

"Okay."

Just as the goalkeeper took one step forward, his phone began to vibrate in his pocket.

He quickly took out the phone from his pocket to see Emma's name displayed on the screen as the caller.

'Um.... Catherine.' He called.

<Yeah>

'Do you have any memory of me calling Emma to tell her I arrived here safely as soon as I got here?'

<You did no such thing>

'Yeah, I thought so too.' He replied before swallowing hard.
