My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 198 Totally Outclassed

Chapter 198 Totally Outclassed

The goalkeeper wasn't that fast enough to react and only to stretch his hands toward it, but that wasn't enough to stop the ball as it ended up bouncing off his arm before falling into the goalpost.

"It's in! What a goal from Carlo!" Jim exclaimed.

"I think this match is too far from Eibar's reach now," Steve said.

Carlos quickly raced to the sidelines and did a sliding celebration before his teammates gathered around him and pulled him down completely.

'I told you we had this one in the bag, Cat.' Dave said subconsciously with a bright smile on his face.

<Yeah, but you should remain focused if you want the match to end with you grabbing a clean sheet>

'Of course, no slacking off.'

<You've scored a goal, your first goal as a goalkeeper, I was never expecting the goal to come this early> Catherine said with a low tone that wasn't exactly clear to Dave.

'Huh?'

<You're going to get a lot of surprising rewards if this match ends without you conceding a goal>

'Really?'

<Yeah>

'Then it has to end with a clean sheet.' He replied before joining both of his gloves together.

"We have sixty-eight minutes on the clock now with Unique FC leading the match three goals to nothing," Jim said. "I believe the Bilbeth Premier League side already has this sealed but will they be able to get the fourth one or will Einar end up pulling one back or two maybe?"

Eibar were still with the ball after the restart and just like it had been since the start of the match, finding the gaps in their opponent's defense was proving to be a difficult task for them.

"Borja," Jim said as the striker received the ball at the center of the pitch from a pass from one of the center-backs.

Martinez was quickly heading toward him at that time and just before the defensive midfielder could get to him, he pushed the ball to the central midfielder who was just beside him.

The defensive midfielder pulled back with the ball pulling Martinez along with him giving Borja enough space to cover down the middle, the idea was to give the ball back to the striker once he had that space, and that was exactly what happened.

The striker had gotten dispossessed by Adolf in the process of receiving the ball but he quickly sent the ball to the right winger but Roland wasn't going to allow the ball to get to him as he quickly closed up on him and sent the ball over the sidelines with a neat tackle.

"That was nice defensive work from Roland," Steve said.

With the ball out of play now, it was time for Norman to make his changes and since this was a friendly match, he had a lot of changes to make as there was no limit to the number of substitutions in friendly matches, the coach could go ahead and change the entire squad if he wanted to.

Frankie was replaced by Merino who had been waiting tirelessly to enter the pitch, Aima had to make way for Pirlo, Fred had to make way for Fredinho, and Martinez was replaced by Ferran which meant that the team was going to be playing with an attacking midfielder instead of a defensive midfielder.

"Norman deciding to bring on the rest of the star players in his team now isn't something good for Eibar," Jim said.

The ball was thrown to the right midfielder who didn't waste time to send it back to the central midfielder who quickly stretched the ball to Borja.

Borja had Pirlo heading toward him but he wasn't startled by the defender and quickly got past him with a backheel nutmeg that stirred up quite a reaction from the fans.

The striker had a clear sight of the goalposts from twenty-five yards out and just before Adolf and Pirlo could close up on him, he sent the ball flying toward the goalpost from the top.

"Borja!"

There was no need for Dave to react as the ball ended up flying over the bar but it got really close to going in.

"Oh, that was so close," Jim commented.

Borja had a frustrated look on his face but the only thing he could do was let out a deep sigh before walking back to his side of the pitch.

Eighty-five minutes was showing on the clock now as Unique FC were leading an attack toward Eibar's goalpost an attack that had broken off after Borja clumsily lost the ball to Adolf right at the edge of the box.

Ferran pushed the ball forward and just before getting to the edge of the box, he sent it to Carlos who was brought down by a push as soon as he got his foot on the ball.

The linesman had his flag raised and the referee had to blow his whistle as that was clearly a foul.

"With just four minutes of regular time left, Unique FC have won a free kick, a chance to get their fourth goal of the match maybe," Jim said.

"Are you going to take it?" Mateo had made his way to Ferran to ask.

"No, take it, I'll take the free kicks in the next match," Ferran replied.

"Okay," Mateo said before he began to slowly make his way toward the ball.

The free-kick spot wasn't as close as the first one, but it was close enough to be taken directly.

"The taker and converter of the first free kick Unique FC won close to the box has stepped up to take another free kick," Jim said. "Will he be able to convert this one?

SD Eibar had set up their wall and this time, they didn't forget to put someone below.

The winger stood over the ball with both of his hands on his waist waiting for the referee's whistle and it didn't take long before the official blew his whistle.

He stared at the ball for a few seconds before he raised his head and slowly took three steps backward.

"He converted the first one. Can he do the same to this one?"

The winger quickly closed up on the ball and quickly sent it flying toward the area but that didn't look like a shot.

The ball was sent flying toward Fredinho at the far left and the striker didn't hesitate to spring up and meet the ball with a header.

There was a defender in that part of the goalpost but the ball ended up zooming past him from the top while the goalkeeper was glued to the middle.

"Fredinho!" Jim exclaimed. "They've done it again! What a cross from Mateo! What a finish from Fredinho, they are on fire!"

Fredinho quickly rushed to the sideline and quickly jumped as high as he could and once his feet touched the ground again, he screamed at the top of his lungs.

"It's over, Unique FC really came prepared today," Steve said. "The defense, the midfield, the attack, everything has been too much for Eibar in this match."

After that goal, Eibar tried everything in their power to get at least one goal forcing out two close saves from Dave in the process but they just couldn't succeed until the whistle was blown thrice to bring the match to an end.

"There you have it, the conclusion of the match, Unique FC played out of their skin today, I've never seen them look so strong before and SD Eibar has suffered another humiliation this time in the hands of a Bilbeth Premier League side." Jim expressed.

"They were totally outclassed," Steve said.

Mateo Smith was announced as the man of the match as expected, the youngster was so exceptional in the match, and no one needed to look twice to see that.

Dave had a bright smile on his face as he quickly made his way down the tunnel, he was the first player to head down the tunnel but before he could go any further, he was stopped by two men who were putting on white coats.

By their appearance, Dave knew they were medical specialists.

"Mr. Dave, please come with us." One of them said.

"Why?" The goalkeeper asked.

"We were asked to conduct a doping test on you as soon as the match is over and that's why we're here." The other one said.

"A doping test?" The goalkeeper said with a confused expression on his face.

<I knew they were going to come soon>
