My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 243 Sealing The Game

Chapter 243 Sealing The Game

The match had just entered the seventieth minute as Unique FC were still keeping their composure while trying to find a second goal while Supreme United were desperately looking for that equalizer.

The ball possession was getting more and more even as the match got drawn out further but Unique FC were still the more efficient team when it came to attacking although finishing was still a problem for them.

"If only this team can get rid of their finishing problem, they will do lots of things this season and become known as a formidable team," Jim said.

"Yeah, but most of those wasted chances had from Fred, I know he has his moments but I think he is the worst striker Unique FC has in terms of finishing which is a striker's main duty." Steve expressed.

The cross from Carlos was brought down by Fred with his chest and had a really good space to put it away but just like the earlier shots, he ended up sending the ball over the bar.

"Oh, another good chance sent flying over the bar," Jim said.

Now that the ball was out of play, it was time for Norman to make the changes that his team needed.

As expected, the first player to come off was Fred and he was going to be replaced by Fredinho, the next player to come off was Carlos who was replaced by Merino, and the last player to come off was Ferran who was replaced by Henry.

"They have Fredinho on the pitch now, he's not a deadly finisher himself but I think he's a better finisher than Fred.

The game resumed with both teams trying their best to get the job done but right now, both of them were finding it quite difficult to get past each other's defense and make an impact.

So far Dave had only managed to save two shots but the second shot which had come from Melody in this second half didn't really carry that much power to it and was easily saved by him so you could say that he was still having things easy in this match.

The right midfielder moved down the wing with the ball before passing it to the central midfielder who quickly sent it over to Melody.

Melody quickly caught toward the center to avoid Roland who had been a pain in his neck so far and as soon as he was about twenty-five yards away from the goalpost.

The ball was sent flying directly toward Dave from the top but it was a tricky one so the goalkeeper ended up hitting it over the bar.

"One wrong move and that ball could have gone in." The goalkeeper muttered before adjusting his gloves.

"Dave Richards takes care of the third test he's faced tonight and now Supreme United have won their second corner kick of the game," Jim said.

Melody was going to be the one to take the corner kick spot and right now, he was standing over the ball on the spot waiting for the referee's whistle.

After making sure that everything was ready, the referee blew his whistle.

Melody observed the box for a while before he took two steps backward and closed up on the ball to send it flying into the box.

The expectation was to put it right in the middle or close to the goal area where any of his teammates would be able to get to the ball and put it away, but the winger had a different idea.

He sent the ball flying toward the edge of the box where Roland happened to be free surprisingly.

The ball got to the striker who sent it flying toward the goalpost with a volley.

"Roland!"

The ball didn't carry much elevation but Dave was a bit late to react as he dived toward the ball with both of his hands.

[ Ball magnet activated ]

With the help of his ball magnet, the goalkeeper was able to pull the ball a little closer to his hands without anybody noticing but unlike the other times when he would just end up hitting the balls out because of the weak magnetic force, this time was a bit different as the goalkeeper ended up catching the ball with both of his hands.

"Oh, what a save from Dave!" Jim exclaimed."

"That was unbelievable, I thought it was going in," Steve said.

The crowd was going wild now as Dave quickly got up from the floor.

'The force is stronger now.' He said subconsciously before he found Fredinho making a run toward Supreme United's side with his right hand up, he was calling for the ball.

'Perfect space for a counterattack.' The goalkeeper said subconsciously before he threw the ball up and sent it flying toward the striker.

"They're trying to create a counter-attack here," Jim said.

There was only one player in front of him with the others quickly heading toward him from behind but the striker kept his composure.

He used the momentum of the landing ball to get past the player heading toward him with a neat nutmeg and right now he was heading toward the goalkeeper with the other players all racing toward him from behind.

"He's one on one!" Jim exclaimed.

The striker quickly headed toward the goalkeeper with the ball and as soon as the goalkeeper moved out of his goal line to attempt his sweeping, the striker lobbed the ball over him before jumping over him.

He watched carefully as the ball bounced on the goal line before entering the goalpost and at that moment, he quickly took off to the side.

"Goalllllll!!!!!!" Jim exclaimed. "Unbelievable! They have gotten their second, magnificent pass from Dave, a wonderful run from him, and a magnificent finish to wrap it all up!"

Fredinho didn't even get the chance to do anything as his teammates rushed toward him and brought him down on the floor.

"That was beautiful, Dave Richards just can't stop giving assists," Steve said. "We have eighty-two minutes on the clock, I think everything is pretty much sealed now."

"I agree, Supreme United don't look like they're going to come back from this one," Jim said.

The crowd were chanting the name of the club now as Fredinho got up from the floor and raised both of his hands before blowing a kiss to them.

'The fifth assist in my career.'

"Dave Richards now has one goal and five assists to his name, that's very good stats for a goalkeeper if you ask me," Jim said.

"Yeah."

<You haven't really been tested in this match except for the first and last shots you've faced so far but you've been quite crucial to keep the scoreline in your favor>

Fred couldn't celebrate without thanking the person who had given him the ball.

"Hey, buddy, thanks and keep doing what you're doing, you're the best." The striker patted him on the shoulder before quickly running toward the kick-off spot.

'I will.' The goalkeeper responded subconsciously with a smile on his face.
