Chapter 252 It's About To Go Down
Chapter 252 It's About To Go Down
"Are you ready, Dave?!" Mateo asked from where he was standing about thirty yards away from the goalpost with the ball trapped under his foot.
He wasn't the only one there as they were also Minino, Merino, Roland, and Ferran stretched across the area with balls trapped under their feet and what they were about to do now was something that Dave asked them to do, it was similar to the current training he was doing in his dream world but this one was going to be from far range.
"Yeah!" The goalkeeper replied before raising both of his hands as he jumped up and down on his goal line.
Mateo quickly rolled the ball forward a little before he quickly raced toward it and sent it flying toward the goalpost.
The ball was sent flying toward the top right-hand corner of the goalpost but Dave was able to react and move right on time.
He got the tip of his left glove on the ball and that was all he needed to stop the ball, he pushed the ball with the tip of his glove and it ended up hitting the crossbar and the post before flying off for a goal kick.
"That's three seconds, go Merino!" Mateo yelled to his teammate as Dave was still getting up from the floor.
The winger quickly pushed the ball forward before he quickly sent it flying toward the right side which was Dave was still returning to the middle from with a little elevation.
All the goalkeeper needed to do was quickly pause and while he was still off balance, he stretched his left arm and used it to block the ball.
"Go Minino!" Mateo yelled.
The midfielder used Dave being on the floor to his greatest advantage and sent the ball flying to the top left-hand side.
Dave wasn't able to get up from the floor on time and the ball ended up falling into the back of the net.
"Yes," Minino said before raising his hands like he had just scored a match-winning banger.
"Roland."
Dave was already back on his feet during Roland's turn but the young left-back had something up his sleeves.
He quickly pushed the ball forward and closed up on it before he sent the ball flying toward the right side of the goalpost but the elevation wasn't that high.
The ball looked like it was going out but just as it got closer to the goalpost, it quickly curved.
"I was expecting that." The goalkeeper muttered before punching the ball out with both of his hands.
'His swerve is crazy.'
<You got that right>
Ferran didn't even need Mateo to give him the signal before he quickly pushed the ball forward and while Dave was still returning from the right side, he sent the ball flying toward the bottom left side of the goalpost with only a tiny bit of elevation.
Dave quickly rushed toward the ball and dived, but he wasn't able to get to it on time but he got really close and ended up watching the ball fly into the goalpost.
"That's how you do it." The blonde midfielder said before doing a little spin.
"We have two forwards here and only the midfielders ended up scoring even the left-back was close to scoring," Minino said with his gaze on Mateo and Merino.
"You know I was the one that took the first shot, so he was fully prepared for it, you guys just took the opportunities created by the previous person." Mateo expressed.
"Isn't that the point of this?" Minino asked.
"Merino and Roland didn't make good use of their opportunities though," Dave said after getting closer to his teammates. "Roland tried but you Merino...."
"I know, that was a careless shot." The winger said.
It didn't take long before the players were all asked to head down the tunnel which was going to kick off by 3:00 PM.
In the locker room, Unique FC players were putting on their second away jersey, the green one with a design of orange and black stripes but the short was just plain green, Dave's goalkeeping kit was just black but it seemed to have been improved by the designer as the jersey now looked like it was a mix of a lighter black and a darker black.
Dave had not used the new boots, gloves, and shin guards given to him by footy wears and today, he was going to test them out.
The reaction from his teammates as he pulled out the golden boot with little white designs was wow.
"I didn't know you got new boots, a nice pair of new boots," Mateo said with his gaze fixed on the boots.
"Well, I didn't exactly buy them, they were given to me by Footy Wears." The goalkeeper said before bringing out the purple gloves and shin guards.
"Oh, yeah, I forgot you signed a deal with them recently." The winger said.
"Footy Wears aren't as popular as Adidas, Puma, and Nike but they're good," Ferran said.
"Yeah," Merino said with a nod. "They were the first company I signed a sponsorship deal with.
"I see," Dave said before he began to put on his new boots.
Frono FC were putting on their home jersey which was diagonally divided by red and black but they had decided to change up the shorts a bit and add only a little detail of red.
The players met up in the hallway where they had to wait before they would be given the signal to start making their way to the pitch.
They waited there for about seven minutes before they were given the signal to start coming onto the pitch.
Jim and Steve said their opening words and welcomed all the people viewing the match from all around the world as the players made their way to the pitch.
There were a lot of fans from both teams in the stands and they were all cheering for the players.
"Matchday two of the Bilbeth Premier League, Frono FC, and Unique FC will be facing each other in their first match of the season," Jim said. "Matchday one was only able to produce four winners and losers the rest of the matches came was concluded on equal grounds, let's see how match day two will turn out."
After going through all the necessary procedures, the captains made their way to the referee for the coin toss which Frono FC ended up winning, so they chose the goalpost on the left side and were going to be the ones to start the match from the kick-off spot.
"The last time Unique FC met Frono FC right here in this stadium, Unique FC beat them convincingly four goals to one with Mateo getting a hat trick and now they have a better team than that one, anything can happen but I think Unique FC will win this one or it may end in a draw possibly." Steve expressed.
"It's about to go down," Dave muttered from his goalpost.
'Stop Darwin from scoring, make five crucial saves, and keep a clean sheet, if one fails, the others are down.'
<Yeah>
'This is going to be tough.'
