My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 273 I'll Do It For Him

Chapter 273 I'll Do It For Him

"Twelve kilometers." The goalkeeper muttered with muffled breathing before he continued his run down the road.

The goalkeeper woke up with the goal of completing twenty kilometers; that was what he was trying to do now.

He continued running and once he reached the road, he took a route to enter the woods.

He continued running down the path in the woods and by the time the twenty kilometers were completed, he had gotten to the hill area which he used to get to from the other route to the woods which was closer to his home.

"Twenty kilometers." He muttered with muffled breathing before crashing down to the floor.

'Twenty kilometers with no break or anything, that was tough.'

<Yeah, but it's good for you>

"That's nice."

<You deserve it>

After staying there for a while to catch his breath, the goalkeeper decided to ask Catherine a few questions.

'So, um…Catherine.'

<Yeah, what is it?>

'The person before me, how was he as a person, and was he used to doing all these things that I do for the sake of improving myself?' He asked subconsciously.

<He definitely didn't have a loser mentality like you used to have before you the system, he had talent as a goalkeeper from the onset unlike you and he was quite hard working>

'I see, so he was the opposite of me and the system made him better so that he could help Unique FC lift a few important trophies and even help his nation lift trophies.'

<Yeah, but…>

'But what?' The goalkeeper asked.

<Even though he was more talented and never had a loser mentality, he didn't really have that desire to push himself further and reach the level beyond a football legend>

'Level beyond a football legend?'

<Yeah, a level only a few football players have attained before retiring but I see there are players in this generation who have reached that level surprisingly fast>

'So, he never had the desire to reach that level, going down as a football legend was more than enough for him.'

<Yeah, and guess what?>

'What?'

<You're also the opposite of him in that category, I guess you two are the perfect opposite of each other despite…>

'Despite what?'

<Never mind, what I'm saying is that you have that desire to go down as one of the greats of the game now that you know that you can reach it, that's why you're planning to leave Unique FC and head over to a team in one of Europe's top five, isn't that right?>

'Yeah.'

<And that desire is what will make you a greater goalkeeper than he ever was, you see because of his limited desire of only playing for Unique FC, he wasn't able to maximize the potential of the system and unlock a lot of things but I believe that you have what it takes to do that and become the greatest goalkeeper to ever live>

As she said that, the goalkeeper could sense a bit of enthusiasm from the way she was speaking.

'So, there is still a lot to unlock in the system. '

<Yeah, but don't think unlocking them is going to be easy just because I said you have what it takes to do it>

'Yeah, it takes a little bit of hard work to get everything.'

Although the system was helping him out in a lot of ways, what he just said now was the truth.

Getting anything required a little bit of work if not hard work.

If he had continued slacking off even after getting the system, he wouldn't have been able to get to where he was today, and having the system would have been totally useless to him.

The system pushed him to start doing the things he used to avoid and get rewarded for it with physical attributes he could tell he now possessed by just going through the system and now that work-hard mentality has been inscribed in his brain so that he would never forget it.

'You know, although this guy before me wasn't able to fully maximize the system, I think he did pretty well with it.' The goalkeeper said subconsciously as he got up from the floor.

<Yeah, but I wish he had done more>

'Don't worry, Catherine, I'll do that for him, and you, just keep watching and guiding me.'

<Of course>

After having that chat with Catherine during his resting period, the goalkeeper returned home to discover that Emma had already left for work and she left a note for him on the dining table.

'Hey, babe, I didn't expect you to take this long, so I'm leaving for work, there's something in the fridge if you get hungry. Bye, love you.' He read subconsciously.

After reading the note, he dropped it back on the table before he made his way to the living room where he found his phone lying on the couch.

"Guess she must have brought it downstairs." He said before picking the phone up.

After picking up the phone, he checked to see if there were any calls or messages that he missed and that was when he saw that he got a call from Clark but it looked like Emma picked up the call and they spoke for about five minutes.

"I wonder why he called, maybe another stuff regarding transfers." He mumbled before slipping his phone into his pocket.

<Or maybe he just wants to talk>

'Yeah, maybe.'

He looked around the area for a while to see that everywhere was clean and everything was perfectly arranged.

"Even in her condition she still manages to do quite a lot." He muttered before he slowly began to make his way upstairs.

After getting upstairs, he made his way to his room where he changed out of his sweaty clothes and into something warm and cozy.

He wasn't exactly hungry so he laid down on the bed and went through his phone.

It only took ten minutes before his stomach began to rumble and that was when he decided to go downstairs.

He made his way downstairs and straight to the kitchen, after getting to the kitchen, He made his way to the freezer and opened it to see that she left something quite interesting for him in there, but he needed to add something to it.

He picked out two eggs from there and quickly made his way to the gas cooker to boil the eggs in a small pot.

He waited patiently for the eggs to boil and once they were done, he turned off the gas cooker and poured the water into the sink before picking up his egg.

He carefully removed the eggshells and put both of them on a plate before making his way back to the freezer.

'She shouldn't have put this in the freezer.' He said before opening the freezer and just as he did that, something happened.
