Chapter 28 Post Match Rewards
Chapter 28 Post Match Rewards
"That was a neat pass, Dave," Clark said.
The three men were all grouped up in front of Emma's bed as they watched the highlights from the match on Mateo's tablet, they also made sure to create enough space for Emma to see what was going on without having to stress herself.
"Yeah, but it wouldn't have mattered if Mateo hadn't done so well to put it away neatly," Dave said.
"Yeah, that was some neat finishing," Clark said. "But I'm still going to say it."
"Say what?" Dave asked.
"You would have gotten your first clean sheet for the season and Mateo would have gotten his first career hat trick if you had kept your focus on the match for the full ninety minutes," Clark said.
"Then you should blame the robbers because when someone you care about, getting worried is a given even though some people overdo it," Mateo said, turning his gaze to Dave.
"Can you guys stop talking about who got worried and who overdid it, please?" Emma requested.
"Those stupid robbers," Dave grumbled.
"Kelvin getting away from Jonas with a little touch of speed and strength." Jim's voice came from the tablet as they quickly turned their attention to it.
"He just bodied him out of the way," Clark said.
"Yeah, I blame him for that Goal, there was nothing Dave or Adolf could do to stop that goal, he should have done his job well," Mateo said with a hint of annoyance in his voice.
"Do you have a problem with him, Mateo?" Emma asked.
"Not exactly but he's always criticizing Dave for not doing his job and then he comes in during the second half and forgets how to do his job," Mateo said.
"That freekick was clean," Clark said with amazement in his voice as that was the main part that he wanted to see in the highlights.
"So you guys are now tenth place on the table," Emma said.
"Yeah, just two points behind Troham United," Mateo said.
"Yeah, but we'll have to wait and see if they are going to move clear ahead of us or if they remain where they are," Dave said.
"There's no way they are going to move clear ahead of us," Mateo said. "Dynamo FC are currently in wonderful form, I don't think Troham United will stand a chance against them."
"Well, we'll have to wait and see what's going to happen in the match," Clark said. "Congrats to you two, by the way, that was a wonderful match and a wonderful performance by the both of you."
After a few more minutes of talking with each other, Mateo and Clark had left, leaving Dave alone with Emma.
The couple talked for quite a while before Emma had finally fallen asleep.
Dave kissed her on her forehead before going to sit down on the seat by the side.
<Well you are certainly not going to have a comfortable sleep tonight>
'Are you suggesting that I leave, Catherine?'
<No, no, not at all, I'm just saying that after a match like that, you should get some good rest>
'I know but in this current situation, this will have to do.' Dave replied.
<Okay, since you're free now, I think you should see this>
'See what?'

<Yeah, you will get a message like this after every match>
'I'm just shocked by how accurate that rating is."
<The system rates you according to how well you did and is more accurate than the rating system used in your matches>
'Huh?'
<What I'm saying is that sometimes the rating the system gives you will not correspond to the one you were given after the match but you should know that the system's rating is more accurate>
"Okay," Dave muttered.

Emma had gotten discharged by eleven pm the next day after Dave had made sure that she had a nice breakfast and the doctor had done a few more checks on her.
The goalkeeper parked his car in his normal parking spot and quickly went around to open the door for Emma.
"You know you don't have to do that, my right hand still works fine." She said, raising her right hand.
"No, using that hand may affect your left hand," Dave said slowly, bringing down her hand.
"The doctor didn't say anything like that," Emma said with a little chuckle.
"Yeah but in situations like this, I know better than the doctor," Dave said.
"You really think you do."
The couple had entered the house which looked quite intact for a house that was robbed last night.
Dave had taken a few steps toward the living before looking at the floor to see the faint trails of Emma's blood which ran from there all the way to the kitchen.
"I was in the kitchen when they knocked the door open," Emma said. "I had to crawl to the couch to get my phone."
Dave didn't say anything as he followed the trail all the way to the kitchen where he could see the larger portion of the blood spill.
He didn't know that she had to struggle like this before she could get help and thinking about what would have happened if she had not called Clark on time was causing something to boil inside him as he clenched both of his fists.
"Dave," Emma called as she had followed him to the kitchen.
"Dave." She called again after there was no response from him.
There was still no response from him as she moved closer to him and placed her hands on her shoulder.
"Hey, you don't have to get angry over nothing, I'm okay as you can see." She said to him with a low voice.
"Yes you are okay but something could have happened if you had not called Clark on time and what if he was already out of town?"
"Yeah, but none of those things happened," Emma said.
Suddenly knocking was heard coming from the door. Emma wanted to go get it but Dave had stopped her.
"Don't worry, I'll get it." He said heading toward the door.
He walked to the door and opened it to see a man standing there.
The man was about two centimetres shorter than him, he had a slightly huge body, had moon-shaped lips just like Dave's, black medium hair and brown eyes.
Looking at Dave's face you could tell he was very surprised to see this man who was standing at his doorstep now.
"Hello, Dave." The man said, smiling at him.
"Dad?"
