Chapter 293 Shattered

Chapter 293 Shattered

The match continued after that goal by Merino was called off a decision that Dynamo FC players, coach, and fans were happy that the referee made.

The match was entering the eighty-eight minute now and so far, none of the sides had been able to produce anything.

Dynamo FC had lost the ball quickly after taking that free kick and now Unique FC were with the ball looking for a way to tear through their defense and get that winning goal.

Instead of the fast-paced attack like they had been doing mostly throughout this second half, they were slowly building up their play toward Dynamo FC's goalpost.

Ferran received the ball from Roland down the left side of midfield and without hesitation, he sent the ball to Mateo who had to push it back to Martinez before the player quickly heading toward him could get to him.

The ball moved from Martinez to Minino and then back to Martinez again.

The Defensive midfielder had to quickly send the ball back to Roland before Damian could get to him.

After receiving the ball from Martinez, the left back raced a little down the left wing with it before drilling the ball to Mateo who got his foot to it and quickly flicked it to Merino with his backheel to prevent the player who was marking him from getting his foot on it.

"Nice skill from Mateo."

Merino got his foot on the ball and quickly got past the player blocking his path with a nutmeg before he took off down the right wing.

"Nicely done by Merino to create space for himself, their build-up is coming along nicely," Jim said.

The winger could have made a straight run into the box if the defenders weren't there, so he had to run further down the wing before he sent the ball flying into the box.

The ball flew past everybody and was about to leave the box when Roland quickly got to it and fired the volley toward the goalpost with his right foot.

"Roland!"

The ball had just a little elevation to it as it was about to hit the floor when the left back got to it, but there was nothing for Victor to worry about as the ball ended up hitting the post before going out for a goal kick.

"Oh, that could have possibly been the winning goal but he got his aim wrong," Jim said.

"I'm sure Victor could have saved that, but mistakes happen," Steve said.

Victor sent the ball out toward Cornell who contested for it in the air against Mateo and won it before quickly shifting it to the defensive midfielder on the right who had the name Steven written on top of the number nineteen on the back of his sheet.

Steven tried to dribble his way past Ferran but he heard Frank calling for the ball up front and decided to send it to him.

"We've just entered the ninetieth minute now with Dynamo FC starting a build-up toward the host's goalpost, can they get that winning goal?"

Frank received the ball but Martinez was heading toward him so he had to push it back to Cornell who was occupied by Mateo.

Mateo tried to take the ball from him but he didn't succeed as the defensive midfielder was able to quickly push the ball to the defensive midfielder on the left who quickly linked the ball to Frank who had gotten past Martinez.

He feigned shooting toward the goalpost to rattle Aima up before linking Damian up toward the right near the edge of the box.

"This could be the moment."

Roland wasn't able to get to the area fast enough as the striker who had been quiet mostly throughout the game released the shot toward the goalpost.

"Damian!"

The ball was sent rolling toward the right side of the goalpost by the striker who wanted no elevation to his shot but luckily for the hosts, Alexander was able to get to the ball with his left hand which was all he needed to push it out for a corner kick.

"Saves it!"

"Yes, Alexander," Dave muttered under his breath.

"That was a crucial save but now they have a corner kick to deal with," Steve said.

"There's going to be four minutes of added time, will there be a winner?" Jim said with a voice filled with anticipation.

Cornell quickly took the ball to the spot and dropped it there as there was no time to waste.

The referee blew his whistle and without wasting time, the midfielder sent the ball flying into the box.

Adolf got his head on the ball and nodded it up a little outside the box.

"Cleared by Adolf but not completely yet, the danger is still lurking around their goal area." Steve expressed.

The ball fell to Steven who quickly got past Aima with some neat footwork before pushing the ball toward the left side of the goalpost.

It looked like a careless pass toward the goalkeeper who was heading toward the area with a dive until Frank slid toward the ball before Alexander could get to it and pushed it into the goalpost before Alexander could get to it.

"It's in! It's the winning goal! Dynamo FC has done it!" Jim exclaimed.

The referee blew his whistle and pointed to the kick-off spot as Frank took off to the sidelines to do a knee slide with his teammates quickly heading toward him.

"What a player! In the dying minute of the first half, he gets the opener! Mateo equalizes, and in the dying minute of the match, he gets what could possibly be the winning goal!" Jim exclaimed.

The away fans were clapping and chanting the name of their team, they were all overjoyed.

Unique FC fans on the other hand were in shock and the players had devastated looks on their faces.

Mateo of all people was lying on the floor with his right hand covering his face.

"Frank James has shattered the spirits of Unique FC players and fans on their home turf!"

"They weren't getting many chances but they've used the few chances they've gotten so well unlike Unique FC who have wasted a lot of chances," Steve said.

Dave was speechless after that goal, the only thing he could do was let out a deep sigh before putting his head down.

The match continued but there was nothing Unique FC could do, they couldn't even get to Dynamo FC's box before the referee blew his whistle thrice to bring the match to an end.

"There's the whistle and that's the end of this exhilarating match, I wasn't expecting this ending, but it was never out of question." Jim articulated.

"I think this goes to show you that the team with the better gameplay wins all the time," Steve said. "Unique FC was the better team attacking-wise, they had sixty-five ball possession compared to Dynamo FC's thirty-five but they took their chances and got their goals to win the match and that's all that matters, three points in the bag for them."

"Yeah, and now Unique FC has dropped to third place as they rise above them to second place," Jim said. "Unique FC should work on their finishing or it's going to keep costing them in matches like this."
