Chapter 308 First Time In Switzerland
Chapter 308 First Time In Switzerland
The Europa conference League qualifiers match was set to kick off tomorrow and now, the team were getting ready to start their journey to Basel, Switzerland.
They were picked up by the bus and dropped off at the airport where the team's private plane was already waiting for them.
A lot of the players on the team were really excited as this was the first time they were traveling to another country to play a competitive match and that included Dave.
Once all the players were inside along with all the staff, the door was closed and the plane ran the course before zooming off into the sky.
"Switzerland isn't that far from Bilbeth so this should take less than two hours." Dave expressed before turning his gaze to Mateo who was sitting beside him as always.
"Yeah." The winger said with a nod.
The flight was quite a fun one for the team, and just like Dave said, it didn't take up to two hours before they got there.
They were picked up by a bus as soon as they arrived at the Euro airport and the bus took them to where they were going to be staying for the night which was a pretty nice airport.
"It's a bit chilly here, but it's not that bad." The goalkeeper said as he stepped down from the airport along with his teammates.
Seventeen players made this journey along with the coach, assistant coach, and three people from the medical team, so there was supposed to be enough room for everybody if the players shared rooms.
It was going to be two people per room just like during the pre-season tour and as always, Dave ended up with his brother-in-law.
The room looked quite nice with an interior design made to look premium wood-like, there were two beds and the other side was just glass, it was a skyscraper after all.
"I couldn't ask for more," Dave said before crashing down on the bed on the right.
"Yeah, it's pretty decent," Mateo said before dropping his bag on the bed. "This is my first time being in Switzerland, but it's pretty nice here, Bilbeth pales in comparison when it comes to having an active street at night."
"You can say that again," Dave replied.
The goalkeeper slowly sat up on the bed to see Mateo opening the door.
'How did he get there so fast?'
"Where are you going?"
"I'll be back, I think I dropped something." He said before leaving the room.
"Okay," Dave said before crashing down on the bed again.

'Just a couple of exp's now and I'll reach level ten.'
<You would be in level ten by now if you didn't fail that quest against Zilo FC>
'Fail the quest? How was I supposed to make three crucial saves when they couldn't get a shot on target throughout the whole game, I only got ten experience points for that clean sheet, that goes to show how unimportant I was in that match.' He expressed subconsciously.
<Yeah, that wasn't your fault in any way>
There was a little moment of silence between the two before Dave decided to say something.
'You know, I haven't gotten the chance to use my shot-stopping attribute since it leveled up, I wonder if I will be forced to use it tomorrow.'
<You could have used it against Terevile United>
'I wanted to, but I never got the chance, they were quite scary with their attacks but their shots lacked that confusing factor that would have forced me to activate the boost.'
<Spoken like a true hotshot>
'FC Basel are currently sitting in first place in the Swiss Super League, considering where they ended up last season, this is a huge jump for them, I wonder how tough they'll be.'
<You'll find out tomorrow>
"Hey, Dave."
The goalkeeper was quite engrossed in his conversation with Catherine that he didn't notice Mateo open the door and stick his head into the room.
"Oh, hey, you're back." He said after turning his gaze to him.
"Yeah, how do you see going to check out their stadium?"
"You mean now?" Dave asked before sitting up on his bed.
"Yeah," Mateo said with a nod.
"Okay, that would be fun." The goalkeeper said before getting up from his bed.
"Cool, let's go then."
The two made their way to the elevator which they took to get downstairs to find Norman standing at the exit to the hotel.
"Hey, coach, where are you heading to?" Dave asked as soon as they got close to him.
"Where did you two come from?" He was quite surprised to see them down there. "I just want to go check out St. Jakob-Park since it's my first time here."
"That's where we're also heading to," Dave said.
"Let's just get going," Mateo said before opening the door.
The night was dark now as the sun was completely gone but the streets were bright and as lively as ever.
There was music with a lot of people walking around the area buying snacks and just enjoying themselves.
The three ignored them because it had nothing to do with them but not only that, it wasn't good to draw attention to themselves.
It won't be nice to get crowded by a lot of people at a time and place like this.
After walking a few kilometers, Norman along with both of his players got to the stadium.
They were warmly welcomed by the staff and after exchanging a few words with FC Basel's manager who was just heading out at that time, the three made their way straight to the pitch.
The lights were on in the stadium so everywhere was bright enough for them to explore, they weren't alone though as FC Basel's content creation team decided to tag along to take a few photos of them checking out the stadium.
There was nothing really special about the stadium except that it was the largest stadium in Switzerland and one of the most sophisticated stadiums in the country.
"The biggest stadium in Switzerland doesn't hold a candle to Camp Nou," Dave said as he looked around the area.
He could say that because he's played in camp Nou before.
"Yeah, but it's bigger than ours, the difference isn't that much but it's still there," Mateo said.
The St. Jakob-Park had a capacity of 38,512 compared to the Wondanimo stadium's capacity of 37,800.
"Yeah, it's bigger than the Wondanimo," Dave said.
"And not only that, it looks better as a stadium, the Wondanimo needs a renovation," Mateo said.
"You're right, but the club doesn't have the money for a huge project like that at the moment, maybe sometime in the future," Norman said.
"Yeah, I guess." The winger said.
<They have a nice pitch for football here>
'Yeah, and since it's not that large, my long-range shots won't require much power.'
<Yeah>
