Chapter 453 Losing Sanity
Chapter 453 Losing Sanity
?
After that fourth goal from Roland, Black Roz FC knew that it was all over, their eternal losing streak against Unique FC was going to continue and there was nothing they could do about it.
They still tried their best to at least pull one back but it was as if, as soon as Dave was taken off the pitch, they started taking defending super seriously because they knew that the person in between the sticks now was not that reliable.
In the end, they succeeded in seeing the game through with a clean sheet just like they wanted.
Unique FC players were quite happy for another win as it pushed them forward toward their league title goal but Minino wasn't feeling it.
He would always smile brightly after each win but right now, he just had a frown on his face with his arms crossed.
"Dave had to leave the match early because of an unfortunate injury, but they still managed to pull it through with a clean sheet, their eighteenth clean sheet of the season, the best defense in the league so far this season." Jim expressed.
"Also, don't forget, they're on an eighteen-game unbeaten run across all competitions and they're still going," Steve commented.
"Yeah, Norman's boys are really doing wonders this season and I hope they can keep it up."
In their last match against Frono FC, Mateo won the man of the match award with a hat trick and he won it again against Black Roz FC today, but this time, with a goal and a hat trick of assists, it was ten out of ten performance for the winger or at least nine out of ten.
This was in Black Roz so Emma couldn't be in the stadium but she would have been there if it wasn't for her condition and there was also no Amber.
Mateo had to be picked up for the post-match interview, and now he was standing in the area with a microphone placed in front of him by a male reporter.
He asked him a couple of recycled questions which the winger answered in the best ways he could until he got to the important questions.
"Dave had to be taken off the pitch at the seventy-second minute because of a serious injury and may be in doubt of being able to join you guys against Dynamo FC, how do you feel about that?"
"Umm…Firstly, no one said he won't be able to play against Dynamo FC but I can see where you're coming from." The winger replied. "As for how I feel, I think I speak for all my teammates here when I say that winning all these matches with clean sheets has been mostly because of him, he makes tough saves look easy and the only match we've lost so far this season was one that he wasn't part of. "
"That was against Dynamo FC, right?" The reporter asked.
"Yeah." He replied with a nod.
"And that's your next match with the possibility that Dave won't be part of it once again."
"Well, I hope the possibility of that being a possibility is low."
"Alright, what about Aveiro? I spoke to a couple of fans and they thought that him getting his boot on Dave's face like that was intentional, what do you think about that?"
"Hmm….Well, he seemed really apologetic about it and held his teammates back when they tried to make a fuss about it. He also met me after the match and apologized to me personally because he knows Dave is a dear friend of mine." The winger expressed. "I had my reservations about his apology until that moment, it wasn't intentional, he was only trying to get to the ball, and then an accident happened, that's something that happens a lot in this game.
"I am still a bit mad about what happened but it's not like he killed him, this is something that happens in football a lot so let him be."
"Alright then, that will be all from us, thank you for answering our questions."
"My pleasure." The winger said with a smile before he quickly turned and made his way out of the area.
All of his teammates had already gone down so he was heading to the locker room alone now.
He was heading to the area when he spotted Dave walking down the hallway, it looked like the goalkeeper had just come out from the treatment room.
"Hey, Dave, wait up." The winger called before quickly closing up toward him.
When he got close enough to him, he could see that his left eye and nose were covered with bandages now and he didn't have the brightest of expressions on his face.
"Oh, hey, Mateo." He muttered with a frail voice before slowly placing his hand on his forehead.
"I see they patched you up, how are you feeling now?"
"Better than before but my head still hurts like hell." He replied before letting out a sigh. "The doctor gave me the prescription for the drugs that will lessen the paper."
"And did she say anything about your status for the next game?"
"Yeah, she said I shouldn't take part in it no matter how better I feel after today, just for my own good." The goalkeeper replied.
"Oh, I see." The winger said before letting out a sigh. "Anyway, I'm just glad that you're okay, I can't imagine what my sister must be thinking now."
"Don't worry, she's probably slee…."
He wasn't able to finish that statement as he suddenly felt a throbbing pain in his head and quickly leaned against the wall with his hand on his head.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Mateo asked before quickly getting closer to him.
<You shouldn't speak too much in your condition>
"I know." He let out a grunt.
"Huh?"
"It's nothing, I just felt a little rush of pain in my head."
"Maybe you shouldn't talk too much." The winger suggested.
"Yeah, I've got that noted down, I'm not sure if I'll be able to handle Minino's noise in the locker room."
"Don't worry, I don't think he's in the mood for that."
"Huh? Why's that?"
"He hasn't been in a good mood since you left the pitch so I don't think he's doing anything crazy in the locker room," Mateo explained.
"Hmm, I see." The goalkeeper replied with a smile.
"Let's get going then."
"Yeah." He muttered before the both of them began to make their way down the hallway. "You know, Aveiro came to see me, he's a really nice guy."
"Yeah, I know."

The drive back home was like hell for Dave, he kept turning his head every second trying to see if there was any position that would make him feel better but it was to no avail.
The longer the drive the more he wanted to scream and let out that burst of pain in his head, but the little piece of sanity he had left was keeping him from doing that.
He was able to complete the journey without doing anything crazy, however, this was where the real trouble lay, there was no way he would be able to drive himself home in his condition.
