Chapter 49 Surprise Place

Chapter 49 Surprise Place

Dave made his way into the house after completing his two hours at his personal gym only to discover that the living room was empty.

The television was still on but Emma was nowhere to be found.

'Did she go to get ready?' He thought as his gaze slowly went up the stairs.

Suddenly he started to hear footsteps coming toward the area and it didn't take long before he saw her step onto the staircase.

She was putting on a short pink gown with little flower-shaped designs at the bottom of it and a black jacket which Dave guessed was for covering her wounded shoulder.

She didn't really do anything special with her hair but still, her hair always looked good with the curls.

"Wow," Dave said, taking his gaze on her from top to bottom.

"You like it?" She asked, smiling like an excited high school girl.

"Of course I like it," Dave said, moving closer to her.

"You should go get ready." She said.

"I know but where are we going?" He asked.

"I said you should choose remember."

"Oh, yeah you did," Dave said, scratching the back of his head.

"Now, go get ready and while you're doing so, you can think of a nice place that you want to go to get your mind off anything concerning the match for now." She said before leaning closer for a kiss.

"Okay." Dave smiled at her before quickly making his way upstairs.

It took him about ten minutes to get done and quickly make his way down the stairs putting on a pair of simple-looking Jean trousers, an orange coloured short-sleeved shirt and a pair of white sneakers.

"That was fast," Emma said with a surprised expression on her face.

"Well, since you spend almost an hour in there I wouldn't argue with you." He said moving closer to her.

"Hey, that's how long a bath time should be," Emma said, getting up from the couch.

"Because you want to wash yourself till you get bleached."

"Let's just get going," Emma said quickly making her way toward the door.

"Yeah," Dave said before picking up his car keys from the table and heading toward the door.

"Hey, do you mind driving?" He asked as soon as they had gotten closer to the car.

"Why would I?" Emma replied with a shrug.

"Okay." He said before throwing the keys for her to catch.

The two entered the car together and Dave waited until she had entered the road before he brought his phone, dialed a number, and placed it against his ear.

"So where are we going?" Emma asked as she drove the car down the road.

"Just keep going," Dave replied.

"Okay." She said with a nod. "Who are you calling?"

"Hey, Clark," Dave said after Clark had picked up his call.

"Oh," Emma said, turning her gaze back to the road.

"Hi, Dave, how are you doing?" Clark's voice resounded from the speaker.

"I'm okay, you?" He asked.

"Same bro," Clark said. "So what do you want me to help you with or you're just calling to check up on me?"

"I just want to ask you some questions," Dave replied.

"About what?"

"Transfers," Dave said.

"Okay, what do you want to know?"

"Has any club ever shown interest in me, for a possible transfer?" He asked.

"Well, there has been one club," Clark said.

"Which club?"

"Frono FC, but I told them you were happy at Unique FC and didn't want to move to a new club for now," Clark revealed.

"You told them that without asking me first?" Dave said with a baffled look on his face.

"If I had told you, would you have agreed to join them?" Clark asked.

"No," Dave replied after a few seconds.

"My thoughts exactly," Clark said. "So why are you asking about transfer offers? Are you planning to exit Unique FC?"

"Not exactly but if any club at all from any of Europe's top five leagues contacts you because of me please let me know before telling them that I'm not interested." Dave pleaded.

"Why would I tell a club from one of the top five that you're not interested? Who wouldn't want to move to a better league?"

"Okay," Dave said. "I'm glad you don't plan on doing that."

"Why would I?"

"Okay, thanks for your time."

"No problem," Clark said before Dave ended the call and brought his phone down from his ear.

"So, you want to join a club in any of the top five leagues," Emma said.

"Yeah, especially anyone from Spain or England," Dave said.

"So if Eibar comes for you now, you'll gladly join them?" She asked.

"Why wouldn't I? Eibar is a better club than Unique FC and besides they just got promoted to la liga," Dave said.

"Yeah, but there's a chance that they'll get relegated again." She alleged.

"They are in seventeenth place right now, that's not a relegation spot," Dave said.

"Yeah, but how many points are they clear of the relegation spot with?"

"One," Dave said with an awkward expression on his face. "What's the point? They are never going to come for me."

"Dave," Emma muttered with her eyes fixed on the road as she had completely lost interest in what they were saying.

"Yeah," Dave replied.

"Where exactly are we going?" She asked.

"Just keep driving, we're not there yet," Dave said.

"Okay."

She continued driving for an additional ten minutes as Dave went through his phone and left her to concentrate on the road.

The car was approaching a large red building now and just as she was about to drive past it, he told her to stop.

"Where?" She asked, turning her gaze to him.

"The shopping mall, looking for a parking space there," Dave said.

"Okay." She said, before slowly driving into the area.

It didn't take her long to find a parking space in between two cars and she slowly fitted the car there.

Dave was the first to step down from the car with his eyes still on his phone's screen.

The first place her eyes had gone after stepping out of the car was way up the building which had something written on it.

It had Unique city's shopping mall, written there with a stylish design, and a shopping cart used to replace the h in the shopping.

"Isn't this...."

"Unique city's largest shopping mall," Dave answered the question before she could ask it.

"I thought you said we were going somewhere that would help you get the match off your mind for the day." She said with a stunned look on her face.

"You are the reason why I haven't given much thought to being unjustly left out of the squad since today, no place will stop me from thinking about it but you can," Dave said, smiling at her.

Emma didn't say anything as she returned her gaze up there with that surprised expression still on her face.

"I heard you talking to Karen about wanting to come here, so here we are and since it's a shopping mall, you can pick a few things you like," Dave said.

"I don't even know what to say." She said before slowly turning her gaze to him.

"You don't have to say anything." He said with a smile before grabbing her by her arm. "Now let's go inside and see how big this place really is."
