Chapter 152 - 152 The Escape
152 The Escape
Under the cover of gunfire, Qiao Yue quickly took the clothes off one of Trand’s dead men and put them on herself, and then smeared her face with dust.
After disguising herself, Qiao Yue quickly moved toward Trand. During this time, an eagle-eyed police officer saw her and fired two shots at her, which Qiao Yue successfully dodged.
It was nighttime after all and men on both sides had to rely on their clothes to tell each other apart. This allowed the disguised Qiao Yue to close in on Trand’s team very quickly. Qiao Yue searched eagerly for Trand among his men.
When she reached the entrance of the armory, Qiao Yue looked in through the window and saw Trand.
When one of Trand’s men went into the armory to reload, Qiao Yue sneaked in behind him.
!!
As soon as she got close to Trand, Qiao Yue heard one of Trand’s men persuading him to escape.
The subordinate said, “Boss, the most important thing now is to escape. We’ve been surrounded, if we don’t leave now, we will all die! Boss!”
Meanwhile, Trand’s face was full of gloom.
“F*ck! I haven’t even caught the traitor and you want me to run away just like that?”
To be able to say such words, Trand must have let his anger from both assassination attempts go to his head. He was thinking about luring everyone into the armory and then killing everyone.
Based on what Qiao Yue knew about Trand, she knew that he must have thought of a solution to say something like this, but she could not let him execute his plan.
Many things that happened tonight were beyond her expectations. When she first learned that Trand was going to attack Yayi, she was ready to kill him and had asked for reinforcements from the organization.
She didn’t make her move at Yayi because firstly, she didn’t want the police’s attention on Yayi. Secondly, she wanted to minimize damage. The attack midway was to buy more time for Rose and Militant to setup. She also wanted to see what the two of them could do and verify her hypothesis. However, what happened next was completely beyond her expectations.
All her plans were ruined when the armed police of C-Country intervened. The two sides exchanged fire and her people had no choice but to retreat. However, if she missed this opportunity, she might not get another one in future.
Qiao Yue pretended to reload her gun with her back to Trand as she said, “Boss, there’s hope as long as we are alive. We still have power abroad. Once we are out of the country, it’ll be easy for us to plot revenge.”
Whether in or out of C-Country, it wasn’t the first time Qiao Yue encountered Trand. She knew how powerful he was and hence said such words.
Hearing someone else persuade Trand, Trand’s subordinate quickly chimed in, “Yeah, boss! Even if we are surrounded, we still have an escape tunnel. There’s no need to give up because of this failure.”
With continuous persuasion from two of his subordinates, Trand’s frenzied mind calmed down. He took a deep breath and ordered, “Take all the weapons that can be controlled remotely with us, confiscate all communication devices, and tell everyone to retreat.”
Qiao Yue’s heart skipped a beat when she heard this. At first, she was glad that she had followed them here and learned that there’s an escape tunnel. But now, once she lost contact with the outside world, she’d be in danger with no ability to ask for help.
After giving the order, Trand took the lead to walk down the tunnel with his men. Qiao Yue had no choice but to follow.
Before entering the tunnel, Qiao Yue vaguely heard Trand’s men say to the people guarding the tunnel entrance, “After all of our people evacuate, blow up the armory.”
Qiao Yue’s heart skipped a beat, but since things had come to this, Qiao Yue couldn’t really setup any countermeasure.
Although the tunnel was basic, it was very well hidden. Trand, under his men’s protection, walked towards the exit, and Qiao Yue could only follow behind them.
In the pitch-black tunnel, everyone relied on their other senses to move forward. Seconds and minutes passed and only breathing sounds could be heard in the tunnel.
Qiao Yue estimated the time. They had been walking in the dark for about ten minutes.
Suddenly, the voice of Trand’s subordinate rang out.
“Boss, we’re almost there.”
“Let’s ascend.” Qiao Yue heard Trand’s gloomy order.
Trand’s men went up one after another. Qiao Yue was planning in her heart that after she went up, she’d take care of the others and then take Trand away.
A faint light entered Qiao Yue’s line of sight. Just as Qiao Yue bent over to get out, a gun was pressed against her forehead.
“Long time no see, Number 47.”
